Boras has always been a convenient target . However , he is doing very well , his clients seem to be satisfied and the owners pretty much have to deal with him. So , I don't think the fans displeasure bothers him at all.

I'm sure what the fans think doesn't bother him. I do think he makes a public fool of himself at times, most recently with his outlandish projections of how much J D Martinez would be getting.

Colome is off the market.

The Mariners announced Friday that they’ve traded reliever Alex Colome to the White Sox in exchange for catcher Omar Narvaez.

I guess they liked him more than Swihart (assuming we offered him). I wonder if they'd have taken Swihart plus Johnson or Hembree (or maybe Chavis).

Craig Kimbrel Reportedly Seeking Six-Year Contract

By Steve Adams | November 30, 2018 at 11:51am CDT

Teams that have spoken to Craig Kimbrel’s camp early in the offseason have been told that the right-hander “is looking for a six-year deal,” tweets ESPN’s Buster Olney. It’s likely that there’s some degree of tactical negotiating at play here; free agents will always set out seeking a sum larger than the one they perhaps hope to find, and a six-year pact for Kimbrel would be precedent-setting.

Entirely possible Dombrowski never liked Colome much. This is the second time in 7 months he’s been traded for beatable offers with no action or mention from DD...

Could be. We may never know if or if he didn't ever make a call.

Most likely scenario is he called and asked and decided the price, whatever it was, wasn’t worth it for Colome...

Which might mean we didn't have what it took to get him, or we felt like he wasn't as good as the return might have been.

I heard an interesting MET-SOX possibility today. After this Cano and Diaz deal goes through, the Mets will be looking to re-up their prospects. Since their GM and Scouting chief worked for the Sox, there could be some deal brewing to send Syndergaard to the Sox for prospects etc that they are very familiar with--and at the same time undercut the Yanks front page dominance in the NY media (the Sox would be dominant over the Yanks) This is a bit conspiratorial and concocted by a Yankee reporter, but it does make some sense.

Despite their similar flaws, Steamer projects 2019 WAR of 0.1 in 31 games for Blake Swihart and 1.1 in 75 games for Omar Narvaez.

Swihart and Narvaez, who were born less than two months apart, each come with four years of team control although Swihart is projected with a 2019 salary of $1.1 million as a Super Two while Narvaez should again earn near the league minimum salary.

I'd have added Johnson and/or Chavis with Swihart, though.

It makes sense until Syndergaard gets dealt for our prospects for a team trying to rebuild its farm.

The Sox aren’t getting Syndergaard.

Oh yeah, and the other part that doesn’t make sense is the Mets trying to dominate the New York media from the Yankees. Not only are all those pages printed on pinstriped paper, but exactly how newsworthy are the Mets going to be without Thor?

Unless the Red Sox are trading guys currently in the MLB (Devers, E-Rod, etc) there is no way they can acquire him. They have an incredibly weak farms system, especially compared to say the Yankees.

Looks like the eovaldi sweepstakes is down to us and Houston!

Time for John Henry to open the wallet and dig a little deeper!

I'm confused about the Mets. Are they trying to win this year or are they trying to rebuild?

They just traded prospects to get Diaz and Cano, which sounds like a move for the present. If that's the case, then trading Syndegaard would not make much sense.

I'm hoping Eovaldi really wants to return to Boston after the way the fans and especially the players treated him like a hero last year. Maybe he'll take a bit of a discount to return. I'm hopeful that if the offers are close, he'll choose Boston.

That said, my preference for signing him would be no more than 3 years.

the MLB rumors site has been saying this now for a few days. One of the things that I like about DD is that we don't really know what he is up to. I doubt that he is relaxing and doing nothing though.

Eovaldi is from the Houston area, but I'm hoping the love he felt from his teammates and the joy he felt from winning a ring with and for us will tilt the balance to Boston.

I'm hoping it's not a 4 year deal, but I know that is likely what is needed to get him to choose the Sox.

I think the Yankee reporter was looking at (worried about) a worse possible scenario for the Yankees. He knew that the ex-Sox guys were running the Mets show, that the new scout guy didn't like many of the Mets top prospects, that he seemed to be talking up the Sox ones, who he was familiar with...

And if the Redsox are dominating the East with the addition of Syndegaard, then this makes the Yankees less of a story in the NY press and gives the Mets a chance at more coverage, esp with Cano and Diaz aboard.

And yes, the price would be more than prospects. Mostly just interesting paranoia.

I'm still on board with the idea of signing Eovaldi and making him our closer. With his stuff he'd be lethal, and if you look at the guy's track record as a starter... well... he's more of a candidate to move to the pen than his short tenure with us would lead one to believe.

He'd probably be less likely to get hurt by just pitching 65-70 innings a year vs 150-200, but $15M a year is a lot for a closer.

I'm not sure he wants to close.

The Mets have always been very interesting, and with there new GM/agent I don’t think it will change.

Might have another Arizona situation with Dave Stewart and Tony Larussa.

The Mets -M's deal is done.

The M's send just $20M and save $64M.

Cano, Diaz & $20M

for

Bruce, Swarzak, Kelenic, Dunn and Bautista

Now, word is out the Mets are looking at Kluber.

I think the Mets made a nice deal with this trade.

If cano is healthy, I see him having more success in New York than Seattle. Plus they add the best reliever in the game!

Plus the Mets unload Bruce without sacrificing their best two prospects!

The guy the Mets really need to put them over the top is mookie. Unfortunately I do not see desperate Dave moving mookie this offseason!

Or they could have just spent the money on a very good free agent closer and second base market and saved there prospects. Horrible trade for them.

This was an okay post until the wacko last line.
