I think I'm now deleting my own posts. Every time I edit, they disappear..

:'(

get it. I don't like it, and it is most definitely disconcerting to have to mount the "but I never beat my wife in the first place" defense. As I tried to explain, I have driven real racists off of boards, so I take no second place to anyone on HATING real racism.

As I also said, my favorite in law is a very dark Puerto Rican. I've heavily donated to the Puerto Rican relief efforts, not to mention Haiti. I have a half African American cousin. There I go, feeling the need to bolster my non-racist pedigree....

Anyway, I honestly don't get that me thinking Hanley was chronically baked at the end of 2015, along with fat Pablo, is such a huge deal? My God, what about the insensitivity to me calling Pablo fat? Now that really is offensive. I have countless family and friends that are fat. I like them.... a lot! I hardly ever tell fat jokes, and only to them.

Anyway... no, I don't like it. It's exceptionally unfair, especially since I've done a pretty fair job of explaining my thinking, as well as defending my racial cred.

Furthermore, none of my deleted posts were inflammatory in the least. I just don't understand how censoring my explanation, which was intended to build understanding, helps anything?

Somebody throws a bomb. You try to defuse it..... but you become the bomber.... does that make sense?

What is it that they say... that no good deed goes unpunished?

Sorry, man.

If you'd asked for my input - which you didn't - I'd be saying to let this sleeping dog lie. You've done a good job of explaining yourself. Now let it go and post no more on it.

But you didn't ask. :-)

Your best f***in* friend could be cooking meth in his basement and you wouldn’t even know it. How about we wait and hear the facts before we determine he is a (in your mind) typical dark skinned person with dreads. Some of my best friends over the years have worn dreads and have never touched a drug or alcohol.....

I read your post before it disappeared.

This is just the latest in a line of this BS from Slasher. It is disgusting that he condemns people like he does without knowing them based on his warped interpretation of what he thinks someone is saying.

LOL :0 I've heard that advice somewhere before?

Sage advice. It seemed the appropriate time to revisit, but not so much.

I do agree that Hanley is INNOCENT until proven guilty on this recent story. I hope to God he didn't bumble his way into something serious! I don't think he's a bad guy! Just relatively young & immature.

Ya. I think we all know people who've made mistakes in their young lives. At one point I played on a softball team where the running joke was that we led the league in "Time Served". :-) None of it mine, BTW! Most of it was DWI time and it was back before there was as much emphasis on DWI as there is now, but still.....

Ugh! Just started up with my new tablet from Father's Day. It reformatted everything.... it also seems to like attaching everything....

More irritating, it reverted back to the old format when I first started posting here? Is there a way to change how "my view" of this forum is displayed?

Ask your kids... or your grandchildren. They'll know. :D

Best mistake my ex ever made. A woman's softball team.

She met the "love of her life," well... for 8 years anyway, and this old Catholic boy was given a new lease on life. I would have stayed miserable for the rest of my life.....

God I LOVE woman's softball!

I also had my run ins with the law. Had to get out of Dodge... All stupid stuff, but it added up. A field trip to a Mass State Prison, what I now get was a scared straight routine, helped me see the light. It worked. I moved west & got my sh!+ straight real quick. A couple years of hard work, back to business school, & I figured out that MODERATION was the order of the day for me. Getting away from GREAT friends for a while was also a must. I could not hang with the big boys & stay focused like they could.

You live & learn!

As Jimmy Buffett says, "It's just a livin' example of love in decline." :D

We always seem to forget the " presumed innocent until proven guilty " reminder. Let's not jump to conclusions just yet. That said , I found it interesting that when Hanley was released , his teammates were not exactly overcome with sadness. Even though he seemed to be well liked , there were no tears shed over his departure.

While we're on the topic of suspected drug users, if someone asked me to nominate the present or former Red Sox player that I most strongly suspected of smoking a lot of weed, it would be Buchholz.

I am 100 percent sure Beni does ecstasy before games. Kimbrel is tripping his balls off on acid. Devers is doing bath salts obviously. And the rest of the team is most likely on synthenic pot. It's a total s*** show........ I have no idea how they've held it together so long. DD is obviously just holding it together when the camera is on him as he is coked out Tony Montana style.

John Henry is totally addicted to erotic asphyxiation during the seventh inning stretch, I can tell.

Kind of makes you pine for simpler times when they all settled for being chain-smoking alcoholics.

I can understand how you got this impression.

I have always just assumed that Clay was just a big dope.

i think you were more perceptive than most about Hanley and you were unjustly abused for it. I think we have a pretty good idea why other teams have not been sniffing around Hanley for the minimum.

This is a very curious turn of events, for sure.

If the implications against Hanley are true, then that could certainly explain why Hanley has not been signed, in which case I was most definitly wrong about that.

According to the timeline, Hanley was DFA'd before the guy in the car was arrested, which means Hanley's alleged involvement in drug trafficking had nothing to do with him being DFA'd.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, there is an option to 'View the entire forum" or something along those lines. Click on that and see if that does the trick for you.

That's the ticket! I was ready to start describing what it looks like.... Maybe they were right? I can't drive 55. It's been a tough year.

But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, & redid my landscape by hand. ;)

Well, that's just silly! And medically impossible. ;)

NOBODY can make their eyes pop out of their head like that while smoking dope. It's medically impossible to pop your eyes that wide open, and actually have your eyeball protrude so while imbibing.

FUNNY! I was going to mention Buck earlier, but I didn't want to press my luck & have all my posts disappear.

See you live on FoxSports!

That is, if the bastards don't give me a West Coast game instead....

Oh wait! My neighboring Mariners. ;)

This is a post that I think is very sensible and has feeling behind it. I respect that. I truly hope that they find that Hanley is innocent of anything except stupidity. All that being said, I really am happy that he is gone.

I don't know about drug use, but I would search him first if my laptop went missing.

You've "known me?"

Which of course means what exactly?

I've read some pretty enflamatory stuff from you. We've clashed a few times, but I would not presume to "know you," nor would I read into anything you've ever said in the heat of argument back in the day in the Wild Wild West, that you are a bad person.

No. You don't know me, and I don't know you. I assume you are a decent person, albeit with some different views on life, religion, politics, etc. Also your penchant for the ad hominem.

Ironically, you are pissed at me for making assumptions about what I witnessed with Hanley & Pablo, while you continue to make repeated assumptions & pretty much the worst of accusations about me.

I'm not going to impugn your reputation by slinging mud, or implying that you are a bad person.

It seems that no matter what I say, you want to impute bad motives?

So be it. For the record, I'm sorry if my strong opinion on this issue set you off. That was not my intention. Sure, I've been periodically irritated with Hanley's act with the Sox. I know I WENT OFF back in the day when Pablo came back as fat Pablo again, and Hanley didn't seem ready to play 1st. I made some accusations and assumptions. By the end of that blowout year, I had had it with both Pablo and Hanley. I really went off. I definitely made accusations similar to my recent speculation about Hanley.

I know I came on strong, and I understand that that pissed you off.

Anyway, other than that, you don't know me. You don't have the first clue about the work that I do with these kids, and you most certainly don't know any of the immigrant families that I have as friends. You don't know that I haven't a racist bone in my body, but you presume to impute racist motives in me, and you keep implicitly doing It?

It would be great if you'd stop, but I get that you are connected here, and are comfortable doing so.

It's pretty sad.

Anyway, I'm happy to bury the hatchet any time.

Take your nonsense to a political board. Maybe it is okay to attack the character on political boards. It is unwanted here. This is a sports board where we can debate sports and call each other out for our opinions and we can even occasionally attack the intelligence or knowledge of others, but attacking the character of people here with reprehensible unfounded accusations is over the line. I don't care if Sox75 is your neighbor, you don't know Spud, and you have hurled your poison at him too. Knock off that s*** or you should go somewhere else.

I will retire from this thread. Thank you for the defense, but I don't want to cause anyone else needless heat from admin.

I hope this ******** will stop.

Thanks! 75 out.

C U on the gameboard.

Peace out. & PEACE :) I'm getting too old for the needless hate & arguments.

Unless of course it's about something really important..... like Red Sox BASEBALL. :)

& For the record, I assume Hanley is INNOCENT of the latest charges. I honestly wish him well!

The news I have seen indicates more information will become available on Monday as reports get filed. Better to wait until something more definitive comes out before giving credence to these rumors. The Sox are claiming they had no knowlege of any drug involvement, but they also don't want to throw anyone under the bus here.

It is a very strange situation indeed. I have said all along that I thought that there was more to the story about Hanley being released then the option regardless of its value. I would never have guessed that a story like this would surface though. True or not, rumors or not, it is a strange one for sure.
