Any theory why he wasn't signed to Vet minimum contract for the remainder of season?

Why should he? He’s making millions.

There is a story about 10 top catches in Bradley's career as analyzed by JBJR...jesus h. jiminy, he is the guru of teaching outfielders. He totally has inate ability to describe every part of his catches. It's sick outstanding, and like JD analyzing hitting. Love JBJR. And I wanted him waived way back...I'm an idiot.

Bradley could hit 200 the rest of his life, and I still would put him out there 162 games a year.

You and me both brother.

I really don't think it was a lack of fire and desire as much as it was the guys just weren't having fun like they are this year.

I don't think they ever lacked the desire.

Either way, those of you who were saying that there were problems with Farrell appear to be right.

I know we differed on the "desire" thing last year, but I still feel like we didn't have enough of it.

Sure, having fun and winning more is part of it, but we had some nice stretches last year, and I just didn't see all that much.

There are no stats to back it up, but it's what my gut was telling me last year. Yes, I blamed JF for much of it.

I haven’t been able to change this one in awhile. She has been on an EPIC run.....

Make that one guy that thinks all you people are nutz and that the guy better be able to hit his way out of a paper bag and that building a roster isn't a popularity contest. But also that one guy loves JBJ and thinks that watching JBJ on D may be the most fun part of the season.

Me three. Slash & I have been lobbying for JBJ even if he hits .200 every since JBJ's first year.

And it looks like we now have a convert! Welcome, Danny!

Let's finish these guys off with a sweep. (I'm not saying a sweep clinches the division, but it would put the Yanks on their heels.)

We have some days off this month, so keeping our starters fresh should be easy.

Here's how the month might look....

8/8 @ TOR Johnson (+1)

8/9 @ TOR Porcello (+1)

8/10 @BAL Eovaldi (+1)

8/20 CLE Pom (+3) or Johnson (+1)

8/21 CLE Porcello (+1)

8/22 CLE Eovaldi

8/23 CLE Price

8/24 @ TBR Sale

8/25 @ TBR Pom/Johnson

8/26 @ TBR Porcello

8/29 MIA Price (+1)

One plus about the end of our season schedule is that we have a day of rest before each of our two 3 games series with the Yanks (9/17 & 9/27).

The Yanks have the 17th off but not the 27th.

The Yanks play everyday this month, except 8/20 and 8/23, but they have a double header on the 25th.

Their first day off in September is the 6th. They then have the 13th and 17th off before ending the season with 13 games in 13 days- the last 7 on the road.

29-15 with Hanley, 49-19 without him. 14 games over .500 we wouldn't be in 1st place now. Best year of his contract this year. He's not here.

That's not how the math there works. Not really sure why you think the Sox would play .500 baseball over the past 68 games if Hanley was here (which is what it would take to still be 14 games over .500).

The Sox had a .653 winning percentage with Hanley, which would translate to 73-39 record today if that pace held. Smaller lead, but still in first place...

The Yankees look like they will continue to lose a significant amount of games during August. If the Sox continue to win series against weaker teams and at least split with the stronger teams, I don't see the Yankees gaining on us in the standings. Id E-Rod gets back and pitches well, the our starters will be rock solid. I am assuming Eovaldi keeps his momentum going forward.

Great article last night, in Boston Sports Journal by Sean McAdam, how Eovaldi loves Pitching to Leon. Headline says "It's like he's inside my Head at Times".

So happy we have this guy, he's a great catcher. Can't believe we got him for cash considerations

No need to convert over here.

Oakland, Seattle breathing down Yankees necks.

Seattle hitting a losing streak at the wrong time.

If we beat the Yanks today they are done. Pennant is ours. They look a broken team at the moment. I think they will pick it back up and secure the play off berth though.

Yes, thanks to Ben for that move.

Exactly. The Yankees are closer to missing out on the WC entirely than they are to winning the division, especially if we can complete the sweep. They still have a tough west coast trip as well. Not counting them out of the ALE just yet, but if I were a Yankee fan I would be more worried about making the playoffs than winning the division now.

Yanks have 15 more straight games to play (including tonight), without a day off. Lot of work for those Pitchers. A couple of blowouts, and really works a BP. Probably why they put Gray in the BP. Might need innings from some guy.

Rain will do these guys in.
