What if both Johnson & Pom pitch great next start?

I'd go with a rotation of ...

Sale

Price

Porcello

Johnson

Pomeranz

When ERod returns, I'd send Pom to the pen as of now.

Theeeee Yankees lose! Theeee Yankees lose! This time to a depleted Baltimore.

Yeah...the Yankees have a problem on their hands, and his name is Sonny Gray. Didn't make it to three innings and surrendered five runs. German is no better. Guess they are putting their bets on Happ and Lynn....along with Severino. Sabathia is unreliable, and Tanaka has been underwhelming as well. Great bullpen...but their SP is a problem.

Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts are both in 4-for-25 slumps and Mitch Moreland has become a rally-killer at 5-for-38 in his last 11 games. Sandy Leon is in a 1-for-16 skid, but Blake Swihart has an 11-game hitting streak at 13-for-32.

If Bogaerts can't play, they may have to put him on the DL and promote Lin. Alternatively, maybe they will send down Velazquez for Lin.

Moreland doesn't look healthy to me, but maybe he is just slumping. I was surprised A.Lind opted out with Moreland hitting so poorly. But maybe it is just a slump and has nothing to do with his health.

My lineup for game 1 against Sabathia:

Betts RF

Benintendi LF

Martinez DH

Pearce 1b

Swihart C

Kinsler 2b

Bradley CF

Nunez 3b

Lin SS

Is this the same Sonny Gray that some of us were lusting after earlier in the season? Just asking. :D

Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.

Where's Eovaldi?

Those rain-outs are going to be the death march for the Yanks. They had to Trade for starters and BP. They are going to need, rested arms. Tons of games without Off days. Even after the 2 Off days in the middle of Month. Only 5 Off days till end of season. 56 games with 5 Off days, average 11 days to 1 day off. Lot of games, need a lot of arms. Edited by OH FOY!

Say what you will about Price, but at least he is facing his demons on Sunday night.

He's still got time to chicken out. ;)

.500 against the Yanks the rest of way all you need. Anything better after that is gravy. Tough West Coast trip coming in beginning of Sept. too for them. Edited by OH FOY!

Bogaerts will not play today due to wrist 'soreness'. The injury does not appear to be serious. He is considered day to day with the possibility of playing in this series.

Was it already announce Xander isn't playing?

Not definitely, but likely. Here's the report I read:

Xander Bogaerts is likely to miss Thursday's game against the Yankees with soreness in his right wrist.

Bogaerts was diagnosed with a right hand contusion on Tuesday after he was plunked by a pitch in the ninth inning of Tuesday's loss to the Phillies. The good news is that it's not deemed to be a serious injury, and Boston just wants the soreness to subside before they put Bogaerts back in the lineup. Consider the shortstop day-to-day, with a chance to play before the end of the series against the Yankees concludes on Sunday.

Wrist injuries always scare me with good hitters.

The potential is there for Gray to regain his Oakland form and really take off in this rotation as the #3.

Good one with this. I wouldn't have expected him to get his 2016 A's form, but he did.

Maybe the old racist tweets he had out there were really weighing on him.

it hasnt been a "rivalry" since the Sox became the hammer and the yankees the nail.

also, you actually need fans to show up to baseball games to want to "rival up". nothing but a sea of blue seats at the stadium.

also, the yankees arent even the most recent team from their own city to play in the world series.

also, cc sabathia.

also, over/under on yankees fans saying "wait until next year!" is august 5th.

also, tanaka is one pitch away from elbow blowout.

also, sophomore jinx x 2

hahahaha. pretty much "nailed" it on post #85....

love the august 5th proclamation.

So the Yankees win the first of the 4 game differential, 7-0, over the happ-less White Sox . Now they are only 9 games out. Must make them feel a lot better. Lance Lynn earned his keep. Time for Sox to wallop Toronto.

Even the worst teams tend to win a game after losing 5 in a row. ;)

The Yanks remaining schedule has only three winning teams on it.. 3 vs Oakland, 3 vs Seattle and 6 with us. I think that at least should win them the Play-in game. But I wouldn't go totally to sleep on them just yet. I still predict they will win a minimum of 100 games (unless at some point wins become meaningless in mid or late Sept)

Per Fangraphs, the Yankees' chance of winning the division is down to 8.8%, despite having the 2nd easiest remaining schedule.

The scary news for them is that they still have to play Baltimore 7 more times.

So, we can go 92% to sleep on them. Still says they win 100 though. (the Orioles this year only-yes)
