Well whether a no-trade means "I am not going there" or "pay me" - that is the question.

Or it means, I'm only going to a team I want to play for because I'm fine hanging out in nice sunny South Beach for the remainder of my contract if I have to.

What if he just wants to opt out in a couple of years? What about the rumors that he's not interested in playing in Boston?

regarding Opt-out - if he doesnt waive that prior to the trade then we better not give up anyone on the 40 or any of our top 5 kids left on the farm.

if he doesnt want to play in Boston than it wont happen. he holds all the power with his no trade clause. hopefully David Ortiz is calling him up and preaching the benefits of playing in Boston for The Nation.

I know some people want Papi to be a coach, I think "ambassador for new free agents to come to Boston" would be Papi's best role in this org.

A baseball source said yesterday that he’s been told Stanton will not accept a trade to either the Red Sox or the Cardinals, another team linked early and often in trade rumors.

That's the first I heard of this, but if it is true, then we move on JD, Santana or Moose.

Here's an interesting quote from the article:

“We have to be careful at some point,” president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said. “We’ve traded a lot of young guys. We’re trying to rebuild our system a little bit at the same time the last couple of years with our draft picks. I think we’ve started that process pretty well. We do have some guys that are close. … But you have to be careful in that regard, and I do think that we have a lot of good players already, that are really good, that you’re trying to supplement or complement and find the right guys. I’m not really looking to trade a bunch of young guys. Now, could we? Perhaps. Again, I can’t tell you that we won’t.”

The situation continues to evolve. I thought Stanton was a reach and one that we wouldn't succeed, so now we move on anyway.

"I don't want to trade all our young players away, but if the trade makes sense, we'll do it." That sounds like a guy seething with desperation!

I think I'd contemplate suicide if I had to spend more than a week in South Beach, never mind the length of his career.

President of Baseball Operations ... i'm kidding - although there is a way that would actually make sense

Love the sun. Allergic to fakeness, gaudyness and people spending all day trying to get the perfect Instagram photo.

While new reports have surfaced that Stanton is being open-minded to any new location, the Marlins are reportedly asking for the moon plus for him....

..then on to plan B- presumably, JD Martinez.

This is the direction I see desperate Dave going. He is going to back up the Brinks truck and throw in a sixth year.

I say stay away from Martinez if he goes for 5/150m -7/210.

He is just not worth that much and it will be more of the same time of wasted deal that has hurt this team recently.

Martinez is gonna get paid, but I think his lack of defense and injury history will limit his market. Boras always throws cash figures out there that make you scratch your head. JD will get 5 years max IMO. I think he’ll see an inflation adjusted Hamilton contract. Like 5 yrs $135 mil

The Hamilton contract - another big ouch.

I think so too. The numbers Boras throws out there are just starting points. He doesn't think that is what his client will eventually get paid.

Changed my mind.

My first option is to get a free agent with no loss of draft pick. Otherwise, just sit tight and move on.

Chris Freakin Sale repeats.

Price gives us entire season.

Porcello can't be any worse, can he?

Pomeranz continues to improve.

Finally healthy, E Rod gives us quality starts beginning in June.

Wright returns to his pre base stealing days.

Carson Smith continues to get stronger.

Tyler Thornburg returns to his Milwaukee days.

Kimbrel repeats.

Johnson makes smooth transition to pen.

Hanley gives us 130 games at 1B.

Betts back to his MVP runner up year.

JBJ goes on a two month hot streak.

Beni improves on his rookie year.

Xander gets physical at the plate.

Devers gives us 30 homers.

Vazquez takes over behind the plate.

Japanese kid becomes two way player.

Kimmi is estatic. Not one single player is lost.

Do you enjoy bridges? Would you like to buy one?
