Feeling tge love, or should I say anti hate.

The record, and place in the standings speaks for itself. Call it what you want. I expect nothing else from a Bloom guy.

I do think his complaining about the clause was part of the reason we traded him.

We were so lucky to get Craig and Kelly for him!

Seriously though, the other trades worked out better:

Lester for Cespedes (flipped for Porcello)

Peavy for Escobar and Hembree (who was part of the Pivetta deal)

AMiller for ERod

Did he ever actually complain about it?

The story started off with a Ken Rosenthal article in The Sporting News that said Lackey was due to finish up his last year at minimum wage and if he didn’t like it, his only leverage would be to simply retire. He then went on to say ultimately the two sides will probably agree on a two year extension instead.

Massarotti yhen write an article that started off but saying “Per Ken Risenthal, Lackey has threatened to retire rather than play his final year at minimum wage.” Of course, that’s not what Rosenthal said - not at all. And neither party spoke to Lackey about it.

But from the Massarotti article sprung up this whole story about how Lackey refused to pitch for minimum wage.

Lackey was then dealt to St. Louis, where he quietly pitched for minimum wage for the entirety of the 2015 season with no complaints…

The Red Sox are 4-14 in their last 18 games when at the start of the stretch the Red Sox were still in the postseason hunt. Bloom got the boot, and Cora needs to go too. If a new Person in charge comes in from the outside they deserve to pick their own manager unlike I believe Bloom was allowed to do. Cora is still living off the coattails of 2018 to some, and 2018 is long gone. Let’s make a clean sweep of baseball ops, or as much as possible.

Henry loves Cora. I don't think he's going anywhere. If anything, he's getting a promotion.

If he sticks around and pitches well through 2015, good chance that the Sox don't get the #12 pick in the 2016 draft and miss out on Jay Groome.

Some reporters are prone to try to beat others to scoops, though Rosenthal seems to be more right than wrong, with more league-wide sources (the guy gets around)... as opposed to, maybe others in the media who may start rumors hoping they come true (I'm not naming names).

Lackey wasn't too happy about fans in 2013 cheering him, after they booed the two previous seasons he actually pitched in Boston (he missed all of '12 w TJS?). Imagine front-runners cheering someone who wins the World Series, after booing him when he had an ERA over-5.00 and led the AL in runs allowed and hit-by-pitches while getting paid $34 million dollars.

I can't imagine why. Sox stunk this year and last year--also in 2019 and 2020.

I can't believe Cora didn't get more out of the Sox in 2020!

You can't imagine that they might be mostly blaming Bloom, the guy they fired, for this year and last year?

I was in my ironic mode. I think Cora has had 2 terrific seasons--2018 when the Sox were loaded and 2021 when they weren't--and two subpar seasons, 2021 and 2022, mostly because of JH's change in direction as administered by Chaim Bloom.

I'm curious if the posters who projected 72 wins, this year (and maybe last year, too) are the same posters who want Cora fired.

I projected 78 to 80 wins and want Cora fired. He is a cheater. I do not wish such an individual managing the team I support.

I can not trust anything he says or does

Without your trust, there is no use going on.

Cora can only manage the players he’s got.

He’s proved when he has talent to work with he’s a very very good manager.

That’s all there really is to it.

Right He did such a great job in 2019. He is a cheater and should not be managing any team.

We get it, you don’t like him. Some of us do. End story.

But, JH took his confession, and he served his penance.

Oh goody. Original sin, confession and penance in one post.

Whats next? Do we crucify Cora and see if he can rise in 3 days?

I suggest you start an eschatology thread. We can continue the discussion there.
