JBJ is struggling with an OPS of 679, but his BABIP is only 250. He'll come around.

Even last night - he singled, and he smoked one to left-centre that Pillar ran down - would have been a wall double in Fenway.

Just a little bit of bad luck for the Sockers. They'll be fine.

FTR....whatever isn't quantifiable for the "stat heads" is known as "randomness of baseball".

I thought randomness of baseball had to do with Angel Hernandez's strikezone?

Sorry but you don't know me. My eyes are actually not biased at all. We have had this discussion before. We have two different opinions for sure. You are convinced that you are right and I am happy for you.

Sorry - this was meant for Kimmi in reference to me seeing things in a biased way.

It is human nature to be biased. That is not an insult, it just is. It is impossible for a human being to be completely unbiased.

That is not saying that you don't know your baseball. It's just saying that bias will factor into your assessments of players whether you are aware of it or not. That goes for everyone.

Then it logically follows that your bias toward statistics and data factor into your assessment of players - whether you're aware of it or not. After all, it's human nature.

When both parties can agree with that we can respect one another and have meaningful and respectful conversations about the value of statistics vs. baseball experience.

Regression is to be expected. Why worry, It's not like he has ever gone an entire year without breaking out of his slump

JBJ ranks 30th in Sox everday player WAR since 1970- about the time I began being a Sox fan. He's right behind Marty Barrett, Tim Naehring, JD Drew and Jody Reed. He's just ahead of Bill Mueller, Rick Miller and Mike Lowell.

Nobody has less PAs and a higher WAR than JBJ on this list....Naehring is close.

(118 players with 650+ PAs)

JBJ is a late game defensive replacement. He's unclutch and he's got sh.itty character. I don't like him.

He's my favorite current Sox player.

Tough night.

Seriously. This site is going to s***. I admire he put his head down and came back from a bad season to make it. I'm not sure he can hit well, but I admire him in his struggles...

That whole ******** with Dennis Eckersley. JBJ is a f'king weasel.

******** with Eck? You mean the "********" where Eck called out JBJ for struggling, JBJ turned his career around and showed up Eck, because he shut him up? YEAH WHAT A WEASEL! Horrible character!

If you want to complain about his offensive struggles, sure, whatever, but his character? That is absolutely uncalled for. JBJ has been nothing but a great professional since being called up. Plays the game the right way, hustles and is good teammate. He's one of the more likeable guys on the team IMO.

And what did Eck do that was wrong? He was just doing his job, I mean he's a broadcast analyst right? Yes? no?

And JBJ is an awful character guy because he said Eck's comments about him struggling motivated him? Okay, yeah.

It's not the actual comment, it's the whole ruse to get a picture with Eck and make it seem like a friendly photo op and then post it onto social media with a snide comment about eck. Just a weasel move. I guess you'd be ok with somebody doing that to you.

It was three years ago and Eck didn't even have an issue with it, get over yourself.

Daaaaaaang lol ok I have to say I like you already but have to ask ???? Why character issues ?

Tough night.

A tough night at the plate, but don't lose sight of the fact that he made two outstanding catches in CF that kept the game as close as it was.

And you know this how? It's a deceptive weasel move from a guy who couldn't accept the fact that somebody was truthfully calling his hitting into question. Nothing's changed since 3 years ago. Guy still can't hit.

Posted
I don't know JBJ personally so I can't attest to his character, but I see calling someone out on a message board over his character when they don't know that person is pretty weasely too.

Like I said that whole set up with Eck culminating with an online verbal dry gulch because the guy criticized him as a hitter (rightfully so) and was just doing his job. The guy is a great defender but a black hole in the lineup especially in clutch situations. I don't like him. We can agree to disagree. It happens.
