MR. Bellhorn and Mr. Fisk has it right, just as long as your in the Wildcard race with this Pitching, don't panic. Take flyers on Players, that maybe they go to different team might wake them up. Go cheap, not expensive. I like the Peralta idea. He also can play multiple positions, which helps the Manager.

I think we're going to have to live with Pablo and Rutledge until Devers is ready. Can't be making panic trades.

I'm with you on that one. Rutledge is going well enough now but Pablo hasn't shown me much. Marrero is a decent fielder but can't be expected to hit much. Devers is our future guy and to trade him would be foolish.

If Rutledge keeps hitting, I'd cut Pablo loose. You just can't put that beach ball in the field. He's terrible.

I agree.

You can not keep Pablo on the bench for next three years. He must be traded even if we have to eat his contract. There's really no end game for him with the Sox. His presence can only create negative clubhouse, and AT THE POINT, it doesn't have to be his creation. It just becomes uncomfortable for everyone else.

I don't think you can actually trade him, even if you eat all his salary, imagine he has no value. I'm guessing they eventually designate him for assignment.

No way would I give that up for Moustakas, he has never been consistent in his career. DD should be run out of town if he makes that trade.

I wouldn't either, but that's what it might take.

Look what some teams got last year- like for C. Beltran: RHP Nick Green, RHP Erik Swanson, RHP Dillon Tate.

I agree, but if the 3B situation still looks like a total mess by the deadline, and Sox management does not want to promote Devers this yeaar, I could see us doing a lesser flashy deal for someone like Frazier or Plouffe that won't cost us top prospects.

Keeps hitting?

You mean like his one game sample size last night?

He was 3 for 14 (.214) and 4 for 20 (.200) before getting on base 5 times last night.

Nice to see him bring his OBP up from .316 to .357 in one game, but I'm not sure we can even count on his current .681 OPS to hold up playing close to FT until the deadline.

He has a .690 OPS in his 3 years with the Sox.

I may be the last one on this board who still views Pablo as our besst chance at nearing mediocrity at 3B this year, unless Devers joins the mix.

Bad trades, we need to stay away from them.

I could see a team trading an equal salary dump for him in hopes that a change of scenery might jump start his career.

How about we eat the salary difference and trade Pablo, Owens and TBall for Matt Cain?

That could happen but do we want Cain?

More than Pablo, in my opinion, and he may agree to try his luck in the pen.

I think we should just cut ties with Pablo and pretend these three years never happened.

I'm getting closer to that opinion, but until I see Devers on the 25 man roster, I don't see Rutledge or Marrero as having a better chance at decency than Pablo. I'd keep all 3 options alive, until we have to choose.

It's just so painful to watch him right now.

Marrero and Rutledge have looked better, but better than horrible is not good either.

Pablo has to start looking better on defense real soon, or I'm joining the DFA crowd.

He is returning from injuries, so I'm cutting him a little bit more slack...for now.

i didn't say dump Pablo tomorrow. I would just keep playing Rutledge until he loses the job. If he can hold down the job until the ASB, I would dump Pablo. Is a month long enough to satisfy you or is it still too SSS. In either case, the answer is not Pablo. He simply cannot field the position adequately.

I could see myself giving up on Pablo in less than a month, but if Rutledge keeps playing, Pablo will never get a chance to show any sample size.

I'm not for benching Rutledge after getting on bade 5 times, especially with a lefty going tonight, but I'd like to see Pablo get one more real shot before pissing away all that money.

I need to see if Rutledge can hold down the position defensively and offensively. I don't need to get a sample size on Pablo. He just can't field the position anymore. He is not learning the position. He just can't field it adequately anymore.

I agree I just don't think he is capable of playing third base anymore.

Gary Sanchez clubs his 10th homer, in 130 at-bats, and the Yankees have six players with 10 or more HRs. Boston has none, so far.

I don't disagree, but sometimes there is an adjustment period for players coming back from a long time out for injury.

I am not confident Pablo will show any improvement on defense, but I do think there is a sliver of hope he can/will.

I'm fine with sticking with Rutledge for a few more games, but as of now, I'm not ready to piss away Pablo's contract.

I also see a possibility that HRam might play 1B next year, and Pablo could DH vs RHPs, assuming he shows some life this year at the plate. That is probably a big assumption,

but I'd like to see him get another chance.

We could see this next year:

1B: HRam vs most RHPs/Tavis vs LHPs and some RHPs

DH: Pablo vs most RHPs/ HRam vs LHPs and some RHPs

3B: Devers vs most RHPs and all LHPs/ Pablo vs a few RHPs

This keeps Pablo off the feild on defense.

There are different ways to win.

BTW, we have 5 with 8 or more HRs. The Yanks have 6.

Yes, Cashman did a very good job of constructing the club with a mix of veterans and high performances younger players. I don't think he is done with moves as yet either and due to their trades the Yankees have some good young talent who could come up in August. If their pitching holds they will be very difficult to pass for the pennant.

The red Sox on the other hand have been saddled with those big money acquisitions which have not panned out well and I believe have stopped them from getting some much needed power injected into the lineup. We do have some good young pieces with Beni, Betts, Bogaers, Bradley and Vasquez but as others have said we don't have a single player with double digits homeruns. The Moreland acquisition has proven to have been a good one, but we still are in need of help at 3rd.

Yes the Yankees are a very improved team.

Can you come up with an observation that is even more obvious?

Oye. Moon you are simply too kind to Pablow. Under no circumstances should you be planning on his plumtitude being on the Sox roster next year. He can not make plays at 3rd, is a shell of his slap hitting self at the plate, and is not exactly Lou Brock on the base paths.

Now if by Devine Intervention Pablow starts pounding the ball with XBH galore and a high OBP I would consider keeping him on the roster through this year.

The guy is done. It will be further embarrassment for the Sox FO to discharge this lump of goo and eat his $60. mil or so. But that will only be temporary. His presence is hurting this team. Keeping him is just f***ing stupid business.

I say give him until the end of June to start playing well and producing. When he fails, cut him free.

Cashman did what I had hoped the Sox had done during the great purge.

As it turned out, we won a ring in 2013, so it's hard for me to say I was right.

Cashman was smart signing lights out Relievers, knowing the return these guys bring, especially at the July 31 Deadline. He'll probably do it again with Chapman, not this year, but his value will be high again next 2 years.
