And when it doesn't work out, are we allowed to complain that it was the wrong move, or is it still the right move because it was a Farrell decision?

You are allowed to complain whenever you want, right or wrong, whether it works out or not. Just as I am allowed to disagree with you. Isn't that the point of these forums?

I like the use of the word "right" because it underscores where we disagree. To me almost all managerial decisions are "right" because they have logic, experience, stats, and timely advice behind them regardless of the outcome.

The managers do have a lot more information at their disposal to make these decisions than we do. Most importantly, they are with these players day in and day out, and therefore, know these players better than any of the fans do. They also have way more major league experience than any of us do.

That doesn't mean that they're always right. They make mistakes, just like any human being does. But it is really a stretch for anyone here to think that they know better than the manager does or for anyone to think that the manager is clueless.

The point of the forums for some is to prove how much smarter they are than the the folks who play the game for a living.

Over and over and over....

Oh yes, that huge risk of the catcher getting injured in the 9th inning and not being able to continue which happens almost never. Of course you have to back off the "Leon has trouble catching Kimbrel argument" because we both know that that never entered into Farrell's thinking.
Leon had a terrible time catching Kimbrel on Tuesday. LOL! It was his first 1-2-3 inning on some time. Anyone who thinks that Farrell left Holiday into bat because of his superior defensive ability in catching Kimbrel is either disingenuous or is giving Farrell much too much credit.

And your point of being on the forums is to give it those people and act like a prick?

it certainly looks like Leon got the message that farrell was sending him by not replacing Haloday with him the day before. i expect him and kimbrel to go on a good run together now....

There are some who don't always seem to feel that way.

I know, but it's up to each individual to assert themselves and also not to take any of this s*** too seriously.

No no no... He was including himself in the "thinks they are smarter than the FO" considering his constant whining about Price.

Oh, I retract my remark and apologize.

Wrong newbie; the constant Price whiner is a different poster.

If you read enough of SNC, you'll see the whining too. I know he's not the main Price basher.

im ok with the whiner part. but not the constant. if there is any consistency to my "complaining" it is due to performance of Mr. Price. when he has been good and won i have given him credit each and every time. i am honest to god hoping he can go 8 and win 1-0 today.

You are far more reasonable than you appear at first glance.

I was matching the language from a post, but in fairness, I should have put constant in quotation marks. That's what happens when one posts during a boring teleconference.

As for the second part, I'd just as soon he go 9 and win 10-0 (much more fun, especiallly against Showalter). The O's have firepower though; Trumbo and Davis seem like they can break their bat and still hit it over the fence sometimes.

Of course that's the reason. They acquired Holaday for his defense, they had a lead in a close game, so of course you leave him in the game, especially when Benintendi and Pedroia were both going to have a shot at driving in the guys on 2d and 3d. Leaving Holaday in also gave Leon a full day off and a rest he no doubt needed.

Plus I thought Holaday was solid in the 9th. That lead off double to the opposite field was on a knuckle curve that was up a little. Walking Napoli was OK given he is their best power hitter this year. What I especially liked was that Kimbrel, with Holaday catching, kept his composure with men on first and second and no one out. That's why he was able to get the next three guys out.
