Why does Kimbrel EVER throw a ball down low to a left handed hitter? Or any hitter for that matter?
In the words of the immortal Teddy Ballgame, "Pitchers are the dumbest animals created by God."

That was a solid win.......... I'm pretty sure the gods are on our side after that win.............. this game speaks turnaround coming.........

We have Buchholz and O'Sullivan pitching the next two days, so we'll need the Gods, but even the help of God might not be enough to make Buchholz pitch well..

For my sanity. Because...... before every start by Buchh I hope and think and deep down inside just really want him to have a great game......... and he's killed me this year every time.

I think he's going to pitch his best game of the year next start..........be the number 2 slot we need, go on a roll............... and then pitch the deciding game 6 world series

That's why I started this game thread. After we win tonight, I wanted to start the game thread when Buchholz starts.

We will either soar or go down in flames together.

Haven't you noticed the pattern of how players and managers exit Boston? Right before the axe drops the player or manager gets a lot of negative press which increases after they exit. It isn't a marching order or a formal cue or green light, but I think the Press picks up subtle signals around the organization regarding whether someone is out of favor. And when they are out of favor, it is open season on them.

Cafardo's story on the game suggests you're right. Headline: 'When it rains, it pours on Sox manager John Farrell.' First line: 'The black cloud above Red Sox manager John Farrell keeps hovering.'

I think I agree with that no interference call. For one, we didn't have a great look on where the ball initially hit the wall. And secondly, the fan who reached out & grabbed it wasn't really trying. It's not like he wen't out of his way to interfere with it or was leaning over the wall. He barely even left his seat. He just reacted like anyone would and extended his arm. We did get lucky though. What does anyone else here think about the actual call?

One can only hope... Get rid of Buchholz too.

The ball was obviously headed back onto the field when the kid grabbed it. To me the question was whether it had already left the field.

I was very surprised that the call was not overturned. I think we caught a break there. Check that, I know we caught a break there. I think that it was fan interference. However, I suppose it would be rather difficult for the review team to overturn that call with conclusive evidence.

:) What looked like was going to be a nice, relaxing win turned into one of the most stressful games this season. Thank goodness we held on.

We need all the positive Buchholz mojo we can get for tonight's game. People have already declared defeat for tonight. :(

I'm with you Emp. No one other than you has pointed out that we did not see the initial point of contact ( although I assume that it was on top of the wall ). And as you said, the kid just stuck his arm out and the ball was there ( apparently out of bounds if that matters ). It's not like the fan leaned over the wall and grabbed it from the field of play. There is as much evidence to suggest the ball was out of bounds when the fan snagged it as not. I'm no expert on these rules and am too f***ing lazy to research any further. I think they made the correct call.
