Aviles was pretty terrible but it's a slight upgrade. Not really going to matter when Kinsler is the only healthy infielder.

With Hanley on Bereavement leave and Brentz sent down the Sox have called Hernandez and Marreno. When Hanley returns, I hope they keep Hernandez up. He adds defensive prowess and could give Bogaerts a rest.

That suggestion reminds me of an old joke, "One good way to make a small fortune out of a large fortune is to go into the thoroughbred horse business". I think the same applies in Baseball. John Henry is a good owner but he has been burned several times with the likes of Allen Craig, Rusney Castillo, Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Rameriz. Pull return on investment with that crowd. As an astute businessman, he has probably learned to question his baseball people when they come to him with a proposal for an aqeing ball player or one with stability problems. Puig reminds me of that kind of player and one that would not be an asset on the team.

It doesn't feel like we need Puig with the huge amount of outfielders we have. We have everything covered offensively in our outfield when everyone's healthy, and we're just going to shove Puig on the roster? We should be going after bullpen pitchers. Puig being on the cover of MLB '15 The Show is the main reason I didn't get that video game. He would likely grow on me if he became an everyday player or something but it seems like forcing the talent level up in a way that doesn't fit by squeezing him on the team, even if we lose someone to make room.

Moncada has struck out in 30% of his PAs in Portland. If they don't think he can hit big league pitching in a PH role, then if he comes up it's as a PR specialist (which I think is possible).

If they bring him up, they will play him. It is a little risky but only really from the defensive end. He may provide the shot in the arm that this team needs. I don't expect him to be used simply in a PH or PR role. I hope that they wouldn't expect a kid his age with his overall talent to flourish in those roles even if for just a short while.
