Sam Travis in his first AB took a pitchers pitch down and away up the RF gap hard for a double. In his last AB he hit a laser (apologies to Pedey) to LF for a double. The kid has a fast bat and great pitch tracking. I realize that it is only 2 ABs ad they are facing a college, but his scouting reports look accurate. If he is as good as some think he is, it is very bad news for Shaw.

Haven't seen a lick of Sam Travis. Will be checking him out in Pawtucket this year.

What happened to this guy, it just all fell apart for him.

Craig looks terrible....does not even look like he has any wheels left.

I just bought MLB.TV but it isn't broadcasting Today's Sox games. Hopefully they transmit some SOX ST games there.

Btw Ted, Did you make the trip this year?

I will be meeting my brothers in Boca on Friday and traveling to Ft. Myers on Saturday for a week. It is our wives favorite week of the year. They stay home with the dogs. LOL!!

Farrell is insisting on Betts in RF. IMO, the wrong decision -- not a terrible decision, but Bradley's arm belongs in RF.

Even at Fenway's RF? I like his arm better in CF there.

Have read and heard nothing but great stuff about Travis for a while now. i think that there will still be a place for Shaw. Third base I hope someday. Have fun down south. Weather is great right now.

Shaw seems to be more focused on 1st at present. Just hope Shaw gets enough time to keep his bat warm and prove himself.

Joe Cronin #4 named MVP of today's game by Remy and O'Brien.

Wait, O'Brien's there? Can't believe ESPN would let him off. He's so great with Dick Vitale.

I think his primary gig is NESN.

You're probably right, I'm just a little shocked. He usually calls the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship Game, which is right around Opening Day. I guess his contract with WEEI was a little looser.

Hope he does to but I don't think that he will be at first unless Travis is traded. He might be traded but he has an explosive bat that maybe they should keep around.

You are right. But it has to be the Sox that are pushing Shaw at 1st. He would not do it on his own. Yet Sam is right there. I think it quite possible that the Sox do not trust Sam's power and that on that score, Shaw is catching him on the depth chart. If the Sox really had their way I suspect that Sam would be the 3rd base prospect and Shaw the 1st base prospect.

Wow - haven't heard about Sam playing third. What do you think they will do with Moncada? He is going to be ready well before anyone has expected. I think that he is close now. I know that there has been talk about moving him to the outfield. I would love to see them start working him out at third base. Shaw has also played some left field. I think that pretty soon they will get their best players on the field regardless of contract size. That will be very exciting.

Well what I posted is that I think they would wish that the situation was reversed and that Sam was the prospect for 3rd and Shaw the prospect for 1st because I think they don't trust Sam to have the power expected of a 1st base bat and are conversely more confident that Shaw does. But I see no effort on their part to actually bring something like that into being. Shaw does not seem to be getting much time at 3rd and Sam is getting no time at 3rd that I can identify. The other potential problem for Sam is just that.....Shaw gives them a guy that apparently could fill in at either position and Sam doesn't give them that.

Teams are carrying so many pitchers now that bench everyday players are being pushed off to the side. Any time a team can find a guy able to play multiple positions that seems to be a big plus these days.

Agree! They are going to have to sort a few things out eventually. Ramirez, Sandoval, Shaw, Travis, Swihart, Moncada, Benintendi, Castillo, JBJ. It is a great situation to be in for sure. Hope that the decisions that they ultimately make turn out to be the right ones. There are also a number of pitching prospects that need to get good lucks before it is too late also. Owens, Wright, Johnson, as well as Kelly.

A line drive off the bat of Hanley Ramirez hit the [usher] unsuspecting man in the back of the head, knocking him down and briefly unconscious.

He is just a disaster isn't he? ;)

Do Sox have any games that are on MLB network, ESPN, or anything else thats nationally televised? I'm in MD so finding a game anywhere is ridiculously hard in spring training and I'd like to watch a few if possible.

Tomorrow (Thursday) night, 7 pm on MLB Network. The Sox are playing the Twins. I am very much looking forward to it since I don't get many Sox ST games either.

I've been watching other games though, currently LAA @ SF. It's not the Sox, but it's baseball, which is better than no baseball.

Perfect, I'll definitely be tuning in to that, thanks for the heads up.

It absolutely depends on your location. MLBN might not show a Red Sox game LIVE if you live in Atlanta, you get a game from your regional team. Then TAPE DELAY are shown at a later time.
