Aside from one year had some significant home/road FIP splits. Tampa and KC were pitchers parks with outstanding defenses behind him.

James Shields has been a great pitcher besides the park and the defense. He has shown for a loooong time that he could be easily a No 1 type pitcher for any team, not to mention he has been durable. For example, I would have preferred James Shields over Porcello in a heartbeat. Even an "old" James Shields is a better bet than anyone of our current roster. ZIPs for example, is projecting a 3.5 FIP for 2016. The park and the defense are not an issue as you are presenting. He has a career 3.6 SIERA/xfip after 10 Y of service sk. I think you are not giving him the credit that he deserves.

Unpopular Opinion Alert:

I'd take Price over Sheilds.

The best defenses in the league for the most part, but iortiz will never let facts get in the way of a good argument. Kind of like a Trump supporter.

The facts are there. He has been a good pitcher aside the park and defenses, go figure.

Trump supporter? What does it has to do with baseball? Do you want the start a fight... Again?

As I said before, of course aside Price.

No, it's a figure of speech. I'm saying Trump supporters ignore facts, not that you're a Trump supporter. Being Mexican, I would be appalled if you were a Trump supporter.

And you're clearly ignoring the fact that a significant part of Shields' value comes from playing in good ballparks and in front of elite defenses. But no one's saying he's not good, but he's not a top of the rotation pitcher anymore. You can scream that he is until you're blue in the face, but he's not.

As I said before, of course aside Price.

You didn't say it in your prior post, that's why he made the joke at your expense. It's meant to be funny.

Still, it doesn't has anything to do with baseball. I don't care about politics. All of them suck. Here and there. Everywhere.

Also, I don't think you understand how ERA estimators/WAR work, and I'm not saying that he is necessary a top of the rotation pitcher these days (and still I want to see him pitch this year, some projections are giving him good numbers this year). All I'm saying is that he is a better bet than any of our current staff... Oh, aside Price (as I said before). I think your reading comp. is not helping you.

When I said "before" it was not meant in my "prior" post, it was meant before that post, meaning: somwhere I said it. Also I was just clarifying it, not big deal to me.

Also, with you, you never know when it is a joke, look what happened with the "maricón" thing LOL. No offense ladies (it's a joke, of course)

I honestly didn't know if you liked Price better or if you had just forgotten to include him. Not a big deal to me.

Well, I just found it. In the post #438 of this thread I said that, but not big deal MVP.

Shields is probably a better bet than anyone besides Price to give us 200 innings, but I don't think he'd be a better bet for better quality of innings.

Well, we'll see Kim.

Didn't Shields get credited with 33 dingers last year?

Worry about politics in your own country.

Sepeaking for myself Spud, sure, he is likely in decline, but I think he still has gas in that tank to give you several quality stars and value while eating some innings even with his FB%/HR% issues.

But again, that's just me, we'll see though.

Sorry, I have to worry about Trump too. If he won and kept his promises, that's a whole lot of Dominicans coming back here that we'd rather you kept.

But this is exactly what he is, but that's not a top-of-the-rotation pitcher. We all agree, we're just arguing semantics.

I doubt that we will get a solid dependable starter like Shields for a bag of Panda.

A bag of Panda is like 1/4 of the entirety of Panda. The acccurate statement would be "for a crate of Panda".

So, he is right? LOL!! Let's keep politics off the board. Especially, in a crazy year like this.

It's a joke. Away from politics then. Don't worry, I think the exact same thing about Hillary Clinton, for the record.

I have come to despise everyone in the process -- the Dems, Republicans and the Press (including the mainstream press and MSNBC and Fox).

Edit: And at risk of sounding like a Bernie supporter, I hate the Big Corporations and Banks.

In my view, they all have the same goal -- keep us in our place and take our money.

On the bright side the DR would probably become a nuclear power.

Gotta take the good with the bad!

Not really. We'd just have more people riding in small motorcycles and donkeys, and not working.

In summation, I'm feeling the Bern!

This election cycle has been the worst/greatest reality show in history.

As a Brit with a keen interest in US politics, this year has been quite something so far.

Trump is marginally more dangerous than Hillary. To think it will likely come down to those two...sweet Jesus.

Bernie all the way!
