No such luck, I'm afraid.

Scott Lauber ‏@ScottLauber Lovullo intends to play Betts, Hanley pretty much every day, which means JBJ/Castillo will rotate thru lineup, mostly in RF

They are determined to mismanage the season from beginning to end.

I am starting to believe that the intent is to trade JBJ for a starting pitcher this offseason. Who knows what groundwork and what kind of interest there was at the deadline.

We know that pitching is our biggest need for next season. So, perhaps despite JBJ. Betts, and Castillo being our best outfield alignment, we need to think in terms of what the best alignment is for the overall good of the team. If JBJ can help fetch us a top, cost-controlled starting pitcher, then it's a move that likely needs to be done. JBJ's stock has never been higher.

He had better keep tearing the cover off the ball if he is going to be a big part of any package to bring back a starting pitcher.

I could see this, but having the D in the outfield of Betts and JBJ would be great. JBJ hits at all he is a gold glove candidate every year.

If he could just produce league average OBP, he'd be an above average starting CF. I don't expect the guy we're seeing now to last - but he has the tools and approach to at least be acceptable given the D.

If the guy hits .250 he will win many gold gloves.

Last night it was reported that Hanley had refused to take ground balls at 1st. Can't say that I am surprised by this at all.

I can't stop thinking about this. Where did you hear that?

I wonder why he would do that.

If we want to keep him, he probably needs to hit .250 or .260, but with Betts and Castillo and Hanley, there is no room for Bradley. If we want him to bring back a top pitcher on a trade, we need him to rake for the rest of 2015. The fielding will not be enough. Top pitchers don't get traded for good glove men.

I don't think that anybody on this timothy maybe Ortiz should be buying property in the Boston area. How is Castillo's stock looking these days? 72 mil. is a hunk of $ but who is to say really that he is a safer bet than JBJ.

Yup. The Sox need to come to grips with the fact that this dumb idea has just failed. Every time they run him out there we see bad plays unnecessarily.

I say cut the lazy entitled f***. And I would refuse to pay his ass since he refuses to do as he is told. The CBA probably prevents this but it is what should be done in the real world.

Somehow the Sox need to unload both of the stiffs and eat about half the money.

Moving on will not be possible while these two stiffs drag the team down.

There's not a single report of this being true.

Think the Boston media would let a tidbit like that slide?

The coaching staff's defense of Hanley Ramirez does not make them look supportive. It makes them look stubbornly stupid. To say that he deserves more time in left field than either Castillo or JBJ is incredible. They would be more praise worthy if they just shut their mouths, put him somewhere else, or admitted that they might have made a mistake. He could be the major league's worst defender at any position. His bat just doesn't make up for his poor fielding.

Check the pay stubs. That's your answer.

Yea, that would be front page..... then the tar and feathers would be gotten out of storage...

JBJ is actually hitting and he's out of options. There is absolutely no reason why he isn't your starter in RF
Ego stroking. It would be an insult to Hanley to bench him if he's healthy. And its not right to do so either. I think we should either trade him asap and eat some money or just ride it out.

@TimBritton: The Red Sox have hired Dave Dombrowski as their president of baseball operations.

BAM....... That's it.......... Cherrington is done.....

The clowns on Comcast were discussing it last night.

Maybe they made it up but last night the guys on Comcast were talking about it.

I can only report what I have heard or read.

I did not make this s*** up. And true or not, it sounds very plausible.

If they want to dump his sorry ass, the FO will make sure that the story will get out there even they refuse to confirm it. That is just the way Red Sox management rolls.

Dombrowski could put his first stamp on the Sox by having Ramirez get some time at first as the Sox play out the season. HE CANNOT BE YOUR STARTING LF IN 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least you have a better idea if he can handle the position. I still think he is a DH that the Sox need to move and eat what ever $$$$$$ they have to.

I didn't say you made it up.

But... you ARE on some pretty good meds at the moment. ;)

And "plausible" or not, I prefer the truth, if I'm going to skewer a player.

Ben Cher didn't learn its THE PITCHING! The Sox have begun to hit to show that there is enough there for the Sox to be successful moving forward. This off season it has to be pitching - pitching - and more pitching.

He had no clue how to build a pitching staff, and that has been a huge organizational deficiency.

1ST base is absolutely the worst place to put Ramirez. Besides have you been watching how Travis Shaw is clobbering the ball. He needs the playing time to see if he is the real deal. Since the Sox are going nowhere and Ramirez may be a trade candidate it makes no sense to move him now if ever.

According to Sox Prospects, he has 2 options left.

If the Sox are trying to get rid of Hanley, why would they smear him while he's still on the team? If they are trying to get anything in return for a trade, reports like this would only bring his value down.

You're asking for logic where none exists.

The story will come out afterward. It always does.
