  1. Its a business dependent on a good product winning, no? BTW Mookie was a Cherington acquisition.....just saying.
  2. I agree with this. Any success the Red Sox have will be a co-credit between DD and Cherington.
  3. I'm going to have to have proof on that one. If you're right I'll no longer stick up for Cherington because I thought he did a good job whos talent he drafted turned out to be good picks, including Shaw. I also don't think he was responsible for Panda or Hanley, but was pressured into it for lack of patience.
  4. Stickin up for Stork here. I agree, not just because of Price but the bad mentality of paying your way to a ring. Look at the freaking WS winners in the past decade or so for proof. I've said it before but we were on the right track until we won 2013 WS and just because we couldn't repeat....blow it all up.....fire, fire, fire....spend, spend spend.
  5. Zito had it when he signed his huge contract but definitely overcame it by being the best pitcher of the WS against rhe Tigers, with Sherzer and Verlander.
  6. I hope you're right and would gladly eat my words. I thought I was going to have to because of your said improvement but the Yankees game undid that. I know it must suck for him too but...he can buy the most expensive tissues in the world to cry into to get over it.
  7. Well he's supposed to do well at least sometimes. No doubt it was a much needed well done job by him. I also noticed that he had a look like "in your face doubters" look on his face when that's what he's supposed to do. Maybe he's more bullpen material. Maybe there's something about starting that gets to him psychologically. I remember Tim Lincecum coming through in the bullpen in the WS after he was looking pretty much washed up. Maybe Price is more sprinter than marathon runner
  8. How do you explain Prices outing then? He's got the talent right. Not saying he had to win but 6 runs? Should've been 1-0 game or 2-0, no more than 3-0. Should've been a pitcher's duel. I have a theory on chokers vs non chokers. Chokers feel as if they have to protect something, like an image or something. Non chokers are free
  9. And it's the media as well as those front office people who get intimidated by them into just spending money, that are the problem. I've been a proponent of what the Astros did and are doing since they ditched all their high priced talent and stayed with their farm system. We started doing that and DD just started spending and now we're stuck with Price. I'll be glad to be wrong about Price though, glad to be.
  10. Yankees sure looked happy and comfortable last night. Yanks kicked our butts the first night and awesomely we turned the tables...and then came game 3. That was just plain wrong any way you slice it. Screw the numbers
  11. Your achilles heal can't be the Yankees. I can't stand high priced players who do well against unimportant teams but not against rivals, giving them good stats but not winning. That shows hes got talent but not focus or confidence in the big games. It kicks the whole team in the nuts, excuse my french.
  12. 240 million dollar relief pitcher. That wasn't in the script. May be the only option.
  13. That's not what the stats say. He did well last year (and made a big deal out of it) but that's what he's supposed to do. Just like last night should've been a pitcher's duel. He doesn't have to win but come on. We could have just kept Lester. And the stats I looked at does not say he did well in the playoffs for Toronto with ERA of 7.20 and 5.40.
  14. Price stinks. It was a bad acquisition from the get go. In his prime with the Rays we used to get to him. When he was with Toronto the manager chose not to start him for the playoffs and he's stunk practically the whole time he's been here. We hear more drama about him than about good play with the Eckersely controversy and playing some game that's bad for his throwing arm. And now we have the highest payroll and Yankees are full of young talent, not even top 4 in payroll. No good.
  15. Meh. Hows his pitching? Other than that....shut the F up. This also has to do with what he said to Eckersley, sticking up for....someone else mind you. Making the most money makes him responsible for his fkng job not sticking up for other people, LOL.
  16. Actually I mistakenly thought JBJ, Betts and Bogaerts were drafted by Cherington but you still back up my point because he did stick with the farm system instead of trading them away and it has worked out. I give a pass to him on Panda and Hanley because of the sometime lack of patience there is and he caved (my theory of course). They were time buyers though, meant to appease until the youth movement took hold. As for DD, he hasnt completely went against Cherington but I look at Travis Shaws current success and see our first baseman (Morelands alright). I didnt want Price. I mean he stunk it up for Toronto in the playoffs and the manager didnt start him on his day to pitch! I also remember us always getting to him when he was with Rays.
  17. Uhh, this first place team practically IS Cheringtons. Including, now, Devers.
  18. Hes back with Giants but shouldve never left. He said he was disrespected in renegotiations, and maybe he was, but he took less money to play for Sox and he was beloved by fans and manager of SF. What can an owner say thats so bad that being in a perfect situation cant overcome. He says hes sorry and hes learned his lesson but those words ring hollow when you NEED a job. I wish him luck, but does he deserve it? After all hes taking the place of other players that are looking for their big chance too.
  19. I thought they got better to show support for Farrells leukemia. Bad play can be because of complacency too and Farrells illness was like a slap in the face.
  20. I believe in the 2013 version of Cherington and if we have success this year we can still thank him with XB, Betts, JBJ and much of the pitching that was finally starting to come together. So far what DD has done was needed. I dont like buying success but we needed an ace, bullpen help and another bat and hes done that. Lets not make any big dollar purchaces. I dont want to be the Nationals.
  21. Dont see much talk of Prices postseason failures. I think thats relevant. As much talk as there is about Greinkes mental problems he seems cool as a cucumber on the mound.
  22. Im good with the trade. Kimbrel alone has the power to turn our horrible bullpen into an excellent one. It was getting better at the end of the year anyways but now you have a still effective Uehara as a set up man. Now we need a quality starter and another bat.
  23. Hes still good, 2017.
  24. LA is no Boston but its still high pressure and he had an under 2 ERA for most of the year. I dont think his mental problems have anything to do with his baseball play. As a matter of fact baseball may be a sanctuary of sorts for his anxiety. Id like to see him as a Red Sok.
  25. If BCs moves turn out to be good it may be wise to take time off. Hell have more leverage.
