Worst Red Sox team ever! I wanted Hammels in the offseason. He stinks so now I don't want Hamels. They need legit 3 SP's and 6 RP's.

I finally come home and turn on the game and it isn't a score fest. Looked like the Sox did good. It almost looks like a normal baseball line score... wow.

 

OK, one more step closer to the World Series!!

Optioned back to AAA, Tommy Layne called up, Varvaro DFA'd, and a Cuban reliever called up. Didn't catch his name.

 

WTF was point of calling him up at all? Seriously what are the Sox doing right now with roster moves? I also think they gave on Varvaro a little too quickly, I'd rather have him than Mujica.

 

Anyway, missed the game, but nice to see Porcello with a good outing and man Hanley is killing the ball. I've wanted him in Boston for the longest time and I'm glad he's finally here and playing fantastic.

Didn't get to see the game but by the sounds of it the Sox played well as a hole team. Haven't seen that much this year yet. Do I dare say...... build confidence and get a streak going :)

If I could, I'd give Porcello a standing ovation until the start of Friday's game.

 

Kudos to Porcello. For one, he did not implode when he had bases loaded early. For two, he went deep into the game despite the early high pitch count. Nice pitching all around.

This was their best played game so far this year. Real treat to see Porcello look so good.

 

No. Best game of the year was Opening Day.

I wondered if I was watching a mirage---we actually had a very well pitched game tonight----seven strong innings by Porcello and two good relief innings from Taz and Koji even though Taz scared me a little. I tuned in during the fourth inning and there we were ahead 3-1. Since f***hholz was nowhere to be found we got the chance to win the rubber game and finish the series on a solid note. I just wish we can start getting these kinds of pitched games a little more often, like say this weekend against our friends from New York.

How many times have Sox batters been thrown out on the bases this season? It seems like it's happening a lot, but it could just feel that way.

 

Not counting tonight's game, the Sox have 5 outs on the basepaths (OOB). This stat does not include caught stealing. The league average is 7.

Those were 6 minutes well spent...

 

They didn't challenge the out itself, they challenged based on the new "blocking" rule for catchers and runners. The catcher blocked the basepath with his leg without having control of the ball, which is supposed to be illegal now. They really should have overturned it.

Yes! While they did beat the Phillies soundly that day, I thought overall they played a better game tonight against a better ball club than Philly.

I know there was a discussion about what team you like the least when I first showed up to this board. And there was some Tampa votes, and some Baltimore votes.......

 

But I tell ya, if you don't want more than anything else, but to put a big hurt and total ass kicking on the Yankees coming to town. Then you need to see a New England psychiatrist that will set your priorities straight.

 

I don't want to even consider losing this series as it might give me nightmares.

 

Masterson, Miley and Kelly.......................get this s*** done.

 

I like the matchups, we can take 'em........

A very enjoyable game for a change-- well pitched and good defense. Thatks how the game is played. Porcello has continued to strike ouit more men then he has in the past, and yesterday he was able to do it without elevating his pitches and having the hitters turn them into home runs. That is what he will need to do to be a top of the rotation guy-- miss more bats and keep the ball in the ballpark.
