I read today that Hanley's approach to the wall has been tempered by fear of reinjuring the shoulder, so perhaps a move to 3B would be less of a risk long term.

Agreed, it was our hitters that really cost us the Yankees series. And while Bucholz did not look good last night- our offense again looked awful. The thing about "power offenses" that frustrates me is that turning in tons of runs does not help win games when they come in bunches. Winning one game 100 to 1, doesn't help your record at all if you only score one run a game for the next 5 games- even though you could brag that your offense has scored more runs than anyone else that week. Scoring lots of runs is good... scoring decent amounts of runs on a consistent manner is more important.

For all of the talk of how bad our pitching is, as of now, I am far more frustrated and disappointed in our offense.

The offense has to start producing, it's as simple as that. The pitching is what it is. They will have their decent starts, and they will have their implosions. I expected that. The offense was supposed to be the best in the league. They are not holding up their end of the bargain. Scoring when they are down by 8 or more runs doesn't count. When our starting pitcher holds the opposition to 3 runs or fewer, we should win. especially against pitchers like CC and Eovaldi.

The announcers said on Sunday night that our 2-6 hitters were a combined .188 with RISP. What kind of crap is that? This is far too reminiscent of 2014, which is the reason why the FO focused on offense this offseason. Get your act together boys. Being swept by the Yankees at home when we missed their two best SPs and we got solid starts in 2 out of the 3 games is inexcusable.

Our recent swoon is on the offense, IMO, not the pitching.

Speaking of Castillo, what's the deal with him? I know he was injured in minors early in the season, is he back yet? We gonna call him up soon? We could definitely use another OF with Allen Craig being Allen Craig and now Hanley being injured.

Geez, what a bunch of Nancys...

The Sox have played like like absolute crap and are still just 2 games behind.

Playing in the worst division in the league gives them the luxury some other teams don't have, time.

And, if you look at the division records, there isn't a team in the division that hasn't had a tailspin like the Sox are experiencing now.

The Sox scored runs in bunches at the start of the season and I think they will again (providing Hanley is LF and not JBJ).

The rotation has shown flashes of competence. More consistency is needed from them, not an impossible task.

If the offense and defense are going to continue to take turns sucking, then, yeah, we're screwed.

But, I don't see the New York Needle Jumpers running away with anything yet.

^^ This.

They haven't been clutch.

But seriously, isn't hitting with RISP supposed to be one of those things that eventually returns to the norm?

Yes, it is. They will start hitting, and scoring runs like they're supposed to.

He used "you're" - I remain skeptical of the rest of the post

My bad, one word mistake. Does not change the content of my post.

The only people that don't like her are all mentally insane and need to be put in a home for their own good.

Then what happens to Sandoval?

Thank you VA. Patience is a prerequisite for becoming a teacher. I often think adults require more patience than kids do. LOL

Hearing right now on ESPNdeportes that the Sox are very interested in Papelbon.

I'd take Paps back for the Phillies eating half the contract and taking a C level prospect. That's my final offer.

As much as I like Nava, a guy in his position can't afford to get off to another terrible start like this.

Agree entirely. Alas, there are always underperforming veterans (like Craig or Johnny 'winning finds me' Gomes) to do the same thing at 10 times the cost.

Mujica DFAed, despite an excellent 5th and 6th inning last night.

Why DFA both Mujica and Varvaro a month into the season? Even if they do suck, that bullpen will need to eat some innings, and cutting your options -- especially ones that have performed well in the past -- is not good for the team.
