Rachel Madow is no genius. I don't care is she is your relative. :)

No. She is bright, though.

She is my doghouse for her handling of the Patriots hategate story.

We need a new separate thread for people to jibber-jabber about other posters. All you need is a 'cover title' that gets the ball rolling.

Like 'Are you an optimistic fan or a pessimistic fan?' Then sit back and watch all hell break loose.

Are you an American or American adjace?

I don't understand this one. Sure, the Red Sox are low on lefthanders, but Ranaudo looked like someone who could fill in spot starts and give solid #4/5 value. You don't trade that for a middle reliever with less team control.

He didn't look all that good when he came up last year. Straight fastball without pinpoint control or overwhelming power. He's basically Calvin Schiraldi. Still, they have more than enough high level starting pitcher prospects that they can always deal from strength.

Ross was decent in 2012-13.

Ross is a lefty reliever, only. He sucked in the rotation. I think Ranaudo is a heavy price to pay as I thought he could end up being a pretty good starter, but they sold a guy who probably isn't ready for a guy who is going to be your primary left handed reliever. It is definitely a move for now

I have the same feeling Pal.

My recollection is that Schiraldi threw harder than Ranaudo. The 86 post season destroyed Schiraldi.

This Ranaudo trade is a head scratcher. This is a guy the Red Sox paid over the salary pool for which they drafted him. I saw him pitch on the Cape and really liked him. Sad to see him go. Texas got good value here.

How would that help break the chain of misery?

The only thing that can break the chain is for people to keep personal insults out of their posts. It's actually not that hard to do. But face it, UN, some guys like to scrap. They want to get the better of that other guy who pisses them off. That's why this stuff never ends.

Adjace? Well, we're pretty adjacent to New England here. If Quebec had split from Canada I might be an American now.

An absolutely true statement. When I first started posting, I was surprised with the nastiness that seemed to accompany numerous posts from just a few posters. I struggle with this. Everyone has the right to express themselves. If there are people that think that their imagined intelligence gives them the right to little tolerance for opinions that they don't agree with, that is very sad. I've taken the bait myself a few times and I am not proud of that. I do not like people like this and would have no problem telling them that to their face. I would not do it on a forum board. Little man copout and that's it.

potential=potential I guess. I don't like the trade myself. A young potential talent traded away. A starting pitcher nontheless. Renaudo is another one who might have needed a little more time.

Ah, sound logic Bellhorn. This is why i like you.

In Brooklyn, NY people would call you a Mensch. This is a Yiddish term which means a man of integrity and that term worked it's way into the Brooklyn vernacular beyond the Jewish community.

At the end of the day, UN has more s*** talked about him than anyone else on here and no one on here would ever say it to his face because he's a f***ing juggernaut.

Can we move on and talk about baseball or are we all just going to be swinging our dicks around until April?

I am a f***ing juggernaut. Also, a malcontent. And don't you forget it.

I'm still stuck on the Robbie Ross trade. The Red Sox gave up a player with 6 years of control for a player with 3 arbitration years left. Ranaudo had a 2.67 ERA in Pawtucket over the last two years, was the Red Sox minor league pitcher of the year in 2014, was considered the top pitcher in the draft in 2010...

All for a guy who should be a sell-low candidate in Robbie Ross who has been injured, and hasn't been effective since May of 2013.

This is the move that you question? Ranaudo is a RIch Gale type pitcher -- a big guys who throws soft. He might be a #4 or 5 for a couple of years, and that would be his ceiling. No big loss.

The Red Sox have a history of trading away controllable back-end starters for quality talent with less control. Wade Miley and VMart come to mind. The problem is that they really didn't get a whole lot of anything back here.

I just don't see how you could be questioning them on a transaction that is so insignificant in the sheme of things when you are on record as such a staunch supporter of the FO. Baffling.

I think the best way to do this is to put whoever rubs you the wrong way on ignore. It saves stress and angst and allows a poster to deal with colleagues that treat each other with dignity instead of acting like know-it-alls. When I'm attacked I get my Italian up and almost by instinct want to strike back, but I'm trying like hell to try and turn that page but it's not easy. In time I hope the clamor dies down and we all can get on with Red Sox baseball and find common ground. We are, after all, all in this together.
