In less than four hours, the 2014 Major League Baseball season will officially begin with a two-game series between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks in Sydney, Australia, the land of "Everything Will Kill You If You Don't Pay Attention". This thread will be for all discussion pertaining to specific MLB games that don't involve the Red Sox or Yankees.

I am so excited for this first game. I know it's not the Sox and I know I'll still have to wait another week for the rest of baseball to start, but knowing this is an official game makes this awesome. Go baseball!

I'm surprised the Dodgers agreed to this game. When the Red Sox went to Japan in 2008, it ended up burning their team out early. I don't care if it is a week early, a 15 hour time zone difference is always going to linger longer than a week.

Edit: LA is 3 hours back, so we're actually looking at an 18 hour time zone difference. That's tricky.

It made my day when I woke up and saw that Puig went 0-5 with 3 K's. Of course, my man Pollock didn't do anything either.

But the Dodgers won and that ruined the evening.....errr morning! I wish the D'Backs get their s*** together and split the series tonight.

It's weird seeing the standings wide open again. I feel like the terrible teams are already stuck at the bottom, but they're not.

And the Astros and Yankees haven't even played yet.

Fox Saturday Baseball is now FoxSports1 Saturday Baseball, minus McCarver. Wish it could be on regular FOX. What is more important in the summer than baseball? NASCAR? No.

If you look closely, he only took the basepath once he caught the ball and that's allowed.

IMO, the catchers shouldn't be allowed the basepath regardless if they have the ball or not.

So annoyed with that rule.

Don Baylor, hitting coach for the Angels broke his leg catching a ceremonial first pitch from Vlad Guerrero on Opening Day. It was sad to see him getting helped to his feet and then buckling after getting up. As a player, Baylor's physique seemed as if it were carved out of granite. He was such a strong guy, and he was tough too. One of his specialties was getting hit by pitches. He would take the opposing pitcher's best heat off any part of his body without the slightest of a wince or flinch. You almost felt sorry for the baseball. It was sad to see him looking old, hurt and very mortal.

Very freaky Ted. It wasn't such a happy place at my house this morning. My team went down yesterday afternoon and my wife's team hit the skids badly in the evening after jumping out to an impressive 3-0 start. The Angels did a lot to try and fix their bullpen over the winter but it was two veterans of that bunch who gave it all up in a six run ninth for the Mariners. Robby Cano looked pretty good at the plate going two for four and I think he might give Mike Trout and Miguel Cabrera a run for their money in the AL Batting Title chase. No matter how you slice or dice it, the guy can hit.

There seems to be something missing from the Yankees offence.

Oh yeah, he went to Seattle.

Because the Yankees couldn't afford him. :D

So the Astros and White Sox are undefeated, and the Marlins are 2-1. Wow.

Why "wow". They've played at most three games. This makes no sense.

FFS, this new home plate collision rules is seriously f***ed.

Navarro blocked the plate without the ball but yet they STILL called him out.

get it right FFS!
