Yup, it's definitely the offseason, bring out those fighting gloves.

RS305, off season or in season there will be controversy on this board whether it is between my pal 700 Hitter and BS07 or between SCM Gullibilinovich and me. You were one who questioned by Red Sox loyalty and we finally put an end to that but that other guy hasn't so I did something I hate to do---go after a fellow colleague poster. The clamor will q uiet down but it would do us all well if the team started making some serious moves, either retooling for 2013 or going all out in a rebuilding mode. The problem I think is that Henry, Lucchino and Cherington are still in the dark about which road to take.

The Sox always struggle with whether they are rebuilding or not or more specifically what we think they are doing. But this year, it may just not even matter that much.

If the decisions are Ichiro vs Kalish.....why even consider Ichiro. What is he going to do for you that is more relevant for one year than finally finding out what you have in Kalish.

If the choice is moving Salty or moving Lavs, why would you keep Salty?....cause he might give you a little bit more in the short run than Lavs....

This team is not going from the cellar to the penthouse in one year.....if there is one thing you can bet the mortgage on it is that.

Not that Riddick is that great a player but who is to say that Riddick has had some degree of success in Oakland cause he was not always looking over his shoulder at who might replace him if he had a bad week. Lets the young guys play in 2013. If there ever was a year to let the young guys play it is 2013.

Well obviously, it just gets worse during the offseason. During the regular season people are fighting cause they're not on the same page on a baseball topic or because we're doing really bad. Offseason has that plus really supid arguments because there is nothing else to talk about, it keeps the board interesting.

Lets get back to your facebook pages ladies. ... Pop a couple of cherry bombs and see how you feel.

Back to business

Swisher sucks...Youker is better career wise and probably could shag balls in LF for 4 mil less. The only thing the ownership likes is trying to stick it to the Yanks. The Sox better hope they sign Hamilton.

Quoting yourself? Is this the internet version of talking in the 3rd person?

Don't act like you don't have connections and if you do don't piss down my back... I'm not your mother

According to Heyman, the Sox are targeting Napoli, Swisher, and Cody Ross, and look to be able to get all 3.

That'd be a crazy good clubhouse, and a very solid lineup, especially at home and especially against LHP.

I like these moves. It also seems that the Sox are almost certainly going to pursue pitching via the trade market, as they haven't targeted any free agent SP yet, at least not publicly.

All three seems silly. The most likely scenario is that you would have an outfield of Swisher/Ross/Gomes/Ellsbury. Who do you platoon? Who will play center when Ellsbury gets hurt?

The other scenario is that Swisher plays 1B, but then Napoli has to share catching duties with Lavarnway/D-Ross/Salty, and when interleague play comes for 30 games and Ortiz is sitting on the bench, it gets even crazier.

Since you blocked me perhaps someone else will let you know what I think of you. You are a very smart person and I really respect you. I am sorry too .

I don't think Napoli will end up in Boston. Swisher maybe although I hate that prima dona. Should have had a pinstriped tutu for a uni last year. Ross...I guess maybe. I would sooner believe that the Sox are going to make a legit run at Hamilton than that they would make legit runs at all three of Napoli, Swisher and Ross.

I agree about Swisher. I can't take the guy's ridiculous antics.

Just say no to the Swish! Don't need his lame act in Boston. You read every where that he can play 1B and the OF, but he is below average with the glove at both positions. He is a streaky hitter that disappears when the games are big (Look at his playoff stats).

Stop the presses! We have some common ground for once...

He is a schlub! They get offended wearing khakis and then they try throwing the ball on the table to the guy wearing sox with sandles. When all along they came up with the suit commericals and got offended for wearing khakis.

I got the schlub part (As Swisher surely is), but I'm a little slow so could you translate for us dim witted folk with the rest of it.

I see B.J. Upton has signed with the Braves.

I kind of had that somewhat pegged that BJ would either end up in Atlanta or Washington and pretty sure Bourne will end up in Philly or DC. I hope that we start with some big signings pretty soon, and, BTW, since you live in the general area, what do you think of this "proposed" trade for Will Myers for John Lester. Is Myers really that good?

I've come to the realization that maybe we should retool and start preparing for 2014 and let the kids play. As soon as Brentz, Bradley and Boegarts are ready, bring them up. The fly in the soup though is Lucchino. Rebuilding is not what he's about and is always looking to make a big splash. Maybe someone should just throw him in the pool.

So you're saying I have connections...

I'm on Gulliblini's ignore list too MVP but if you want to play my conscience in this, well OK. Personally I don't like attacking any fellow poster but he crossed the line questioning my Red Sox loyalty and dragging up some crap that occurred over five years ago and was false and pejorative in the first place. I have little use for people who are willing to be used and swallow whatever someone tells them. I w on't rehash it because old times here know the whole sordid story. Suffice to say, two of those jerks who make those accusations are, surprisingly enough, now good friends of mine. The other two will always be jerks. Any kuddos to you for trying to keep the peace.

The argument against Fred's Red Sox loyalty should be pretty much over. He's said on many occasions that it took him a few years of jumping to different teams, and it finally stuck. Since he's been behind the Red Sox through 2011/2012, I believe that it will continue to stick... assuming that Ben stops napping:lol:

Interesting about the varied takes on Swisher as a clubhouse guy. Some folks think he has been a good clubhouse guy. I guess others think less of him.

I could easily see how he would rub guys the wrong way.
