I hope Theo doesn't actually go after the Mariners guy. Honestly, we should just throw w/e it takes at Ubaldo. He could shine on the Red Sox. We need pitching. This year we have a huuuge chance the WS. Sox vs Giants 2011!!

Stay away from Ubaldo. He's a great pitcher, but he's a Pyrrhic victory.

My ideal trade target is Mark Buehrle or Hiroki Kuroda.

Hopefully' date=' losing 2 games at home to KC is awake up call for Theo. If not, then I must say,[b'] WAKE UP, THEO[/b]!!!!

Why, so he can overpay for someone else ;) ?

SOS! Buchz has something beyond than a simple injury that can heal with some time. We can't live with all this incertitude around this kid, this team has great chances to make the WS, and we won't go anywhere with Lackey and Miller/Weiland/Wake as the 3-4-5 of the rotation.

We need to make everything in our hands to bring the best starter pitcher available in the market.

Theo: pilas!

I'd love to see Bedard on the team. We can probably get him for cheap relative to his abilities, and he's played a lot of games in the AL East and done reasonably well. He'd give us more depth which we need and could potentially help us out a lot long term. Granted I'd rather see Guthrie, but I'd rather see Bedard than Buerhle or Kuroda. Or even Jimenez, but that's solely based on how expensive he'd be.

Buchholz might not pitch again this season in the ML! -- Let's keep our thought positive for him though b/c he could come back strong, he has the potential to come back this season -- However, we need to bring in a high-caliber pitcher right NOW. We're looking for a consistent 3.30-4.00 ERA to be our #4/5. C'mon Tito. Get someone! Sunday is the deadline! --

Patriots are getting down on the other side of the board.

maybe Guthrie, but I doubt the O's either deal him, or deal to us.

Ubaldo could be a solid long shot. He's 27.

Buehrle and Kuroda are 32 and 36 respectively. Buehrle is not that old but his best years have gone, regardless he has been solid this year.

I would go once and for all for a long shot bet, we need it anyway.

I wouldn't part with Lavarnway or Middlebrooks, and without those two the deal breaks down.

Either Middlebrooks or Lavarnway, or possibly both, could be on the roster next year depending on what happens with Mr. Kevin "always-getting-dinged-in-the-field" Youkilis, as well as Ortiz and Tek. If they decide to DH Youk to keep his bat in the lineup, Middlebrooks is the logical replacement, with perhaps Lowrie or Navarro as a stopgap until he's ready. If they decide to play Youk in the field, Lavarnway could play DH and backup catcher. As things stand, both are viable injury insurance and could come up big next year.

In Dojji's fantasyland, all Sox will be 27 and under.

Sorry, but a SP is more important than Middlebrooks.

Yup...The SP is the Aquilles' heel not just for the next 3 months but for the mid/long term.

I agree. I love that the Sox stopped trading away the farm system for veterans. If that cycle had not been broken, we would never have seen the likes of Pedroia, Youk, Buch, etc.

I think we should go with what we have if upgrading would be too expensive.

I like what we are developing in the farm system.

Go to the Buch's thread... There are rumors, ... at this point considering all those flights in order to see the best specialists and that the pain still there, it wouldn't surprise me at all that Buch might not pitch anymore this season.

Ubaldo is 27.

There is not other way to get a caliber like him... And we need him now... And then!.

Theo isn't going to pay that kind of talent for Jimenez. We've already blown up the farm system twice in the last 2 years. He believes in building from the farm, he's not going to do that indefinitely.

If Theo thinks Bedard is healthy and we can get him for a reasonable package that does not involve Middlebrooks, Ranaudo, Lavarnway, Kalish, or Iggy, I'd pull the trigger on that over a deal that involves one of the big name prospects for Ubaldo, and I'll tell you why. You get Bedard in here, he's a low to mid 3 ERA pitcher, high k/9 lefty, and you save your farm.

This offseason, when Felix comes available, you mortgage the farm for him. Theo has had as much of a love fest for Felix as he did for Gonzo, and when Theo wants a player, he goes out and gets him. Felix will most definitely become available. Jack Z is smart not to sell him now. He'll get just as much of a haul this offseason, and he'll fill up his stadium for another 2 months this year and generate some extra revenues with him on the mound. Next year, Felix's salary bumps up by $10mm to around $20mm. He's got a no trade clause, so the Sox will have to shell out the money for him, so what. You get Felix and you have a rotation of Felix - Lester - Beckett - Buchholz - Lackey.

I think Theo will go all out for Felix and will not be outbid by the Yankees like he was on Tex. A little revenge, I already smell it.

Apparently Colorado wants what we offered for King Felix.

Screw that. That was 3 former first round picks, including Dan Bard, plus Reddick and Doubront. No.

Sure, I see hard that this happens and mostly since the damn NYY have their noses there among others, but if Buch comes with fatal news (like he won't come back), I would see the light there and probably they'll do everything in their hands in order to bring him. We'll see.

The move that the Sox make will make their opinion on Buch's health very very transparent.

Teams are waiting until the last minute before dealing some of these guys, to see who offers the most value. Nobody is pulling the string early. On top of that, you have contenders like the Red Sox and the Yankees watching each other carefully--what one does may well depend on what the other does.

There really is very little new information out there in the media, traderumors.com, etc. There will probably be deals made for players the media hasn't mentioned. That's how it usually is. Just a lot of hype until a trade actually happens. The teams are pretty good at hiding what they are really doing.

If Theo is cooking that scenaio, I would name him Theo "the Godfather" Epstain ... :D
