Joba's starting debut was unimpressive to be kind. He pretty much stunk. Yankee fans that are expecting him to win 12-15 games need to get a reality check.

BTW The pen looked great tonight.

Wow' date=' he went 2 2/3 innings in his first start, and people are cheering? 4 walks and people are cheering?[/quote']

It's not about how long he went, did you forget he was on a pitch count? Yeah he asnt amazing or anything, but he looked ok

All I know is that LaTroy Hawkins needs to be shot. I was tempted to wait around after the game by the players.press gate and beat his ass.

It is about how long he went. He was on a pitch count that would have let him go 5 innings if effective, 4 if decent. He had a bad inning followed by a good one, then was pulled after the leadoff walk before he could have another bad one. His command was off, and he threw too many pitches because he was generally ineffective. They are playing with fire having this kid start, I see no good coming from it, and the negatives far outweighing the positives.

It's nice having NESN and]/i] YES, all you wind up doing is hitting the "last channel" button. Oh, that plus hit the mute button pretty much whenever Michael Kay is speaking.

Julio Lugo continues to have a 20 point OBP lead over Jeter.

When he closes that 500 hit difference gap over the last 9 seasons, give me a call.

it was nice to see them spend 20 minutes interviewing his father.

how do you yankee fans do it?

i spend 10 minutes listening to that crew of masturbation addicts and i want to open a vein in my living room.

I thought he threw hard, hitting 99 a couple times but this is MLB,throw 4,99mph heaters in a row and the 4th will be hit 400 feet....

i still dont understand this move at this time

they have taken an effective tool in middle relief and turned it into a glaring weakness while f***ing up the starting rotation for the time being.

this will put more pressure on the yanks pen for the time being and hopefully it doesnt destroy the guys confidence.

The approach, IMHO, is completely wrong. You don't put him in for his first start, with a 70 pitch limit, against Roy Halladay and the Jays who are currently ahead of them in the standings. Joba should have been sent to AAA to build up his pitch count and then only started for the Yanks when he would not be restricted in pitch count. Basically, the Yanks are willing to throw away games because their s***** pen would have to be relied upon for 5 plus innings in each of Joba's first few starts.

While I agree that Pvt Pyle should be building up his stamina in the minors for a team that is trying to win games, I do question who makes starts while he's down there? The 4 guys in the rotation are Wang, Pettitte, Moose, and Rasner. Who's next, bat-shy Kennedy? Homesick Igawa? Perhaps they viewed these games as one's they had to punt anyway and let him go out there hoping for lightning in a bottle while he builds his pitchcount.

The timing is all wrong and not well thought out. You don't experiment in your own division when you are sitting in last place. Pitch him in games at the MLB level, if you must, with a pitch count against weaker teams. Play the shuttle game with AAA starters until Joba is ready.

Pvt Pyle's first start is going swimmingly.

nice! I guess the nickname is starting to stick a bit...it was last September when I first posted the following:

Was JOBA in Full Metal Jacket?

The private got himself into a pyle of s*** early yesterday, and there weren't even any bugs to blame it on.

When he closes that 500 hit difference gap over the last 9 seasons' date=' give me a call.[/quote']Who cares what he did over the last 10 years. All I am saying is that the iconic Jeter is barely producing as well offensively as Lugo. That's pretty sad. Don't you think so.

Yeah but it's Derek Jeter....I mean come on....DEREK JETER

at least he doesn't own a .216 BA with a .263 OBP and a pathetic .582 OPS....Robinson Cano is going to win a batting title one day

I think it is early June and when all is said and done, Lugo can't hold Jeter's jock when it comes to offensive production

Lugo is performing slightly better than a Jeter who's been dealing with injuries this season. Is this supposed to be surprising or impressing? Because it fails in both aspects.

Should be a tied game right now.

...thank you Kyle Farnsworth.<_>

AND THANK YOU JASON GIAMBI!!!

Yanks win on a Giambi pinch-hit 2 run HR

I played hooky from work to see the game. Good call.

To tell the truth, I had no real feel that Giambi would do that against BJ Ryan...especially on an 0-2 count.

he pinch hits giambi against ryan and comes out smelling sweet?

very fortunate

i had the yanks parlayed with the cards at 1pm

wrote it off after cabrerra dropped the fly ball

wrote it off when arod couldnt get the guys in from 2nd and 3rd and when damon got thrown out stealing by 20 feet

of course the fansworth run made the remote bounce a couple times too

blessed day but it wont last

Pinch hit Giambi for Molina. I don't see why anyone would disagree with that.
