I'm having trouble deciding what's worse: the Padres' defense or the Padres' offense.

...now that I say that, they'll end up scoring 10 runs in the next inning.

And sure enough, it's 2 on with no outs.

No, it is not time for another thread. The Padres define "teh suck". Bases loaded, none out, they piss it away, running into an out even.

::white noise::

It's great to watch Joba get better and better with each start. It's becoming very clear that his stuff can translate to this new role and he can be effective over 100 pitches. With Wang gone until at least September, Joba is going to be an important part of this rotation. If he can continue to pitch like this, it's one less spot in the rotation the Yankees will have to worry about.

For his 4th start ever and his first without any real limitations' date=' I think he did pretty well.[/quote']

he did well enough but he was lucky to find himself facing the Pods when he pitched himself into a bases loaded, no out jam

I followed the game online since I was at work. He walked Tony Clark on 4 balls...was that an IBB?

I was at the game. The answer: No.

has a team ever had an easier interleague schedule than ny circa 2008?

this is their blessing

the top of the nl is getting pummeled

the iron of the a.l once again shreds the AAAA league and even the Yanks pitching looks good against these stiffs.

tampa swept chicago?

boston spanked philly

kc beat st louis

chisox beat pitt

tx beat atlanta

balt beat hous

and toronto scored 6 in the 9th and nearly caught milwaukee

arizona was the best nl team to win yesterday beating oakland 2-1

arizona,a team that i had suspected would be good this year and did get off to a good start but they have 0 pop, none.

i liked the dodgers out west, they continue to suck as well and now jc penny is on the shelf

the bats have been decent #s wise but their pitching is disappointing again

all in all its got to be embarrasing for the national league to get humbled like this every year.

How did they get SD on the schedule? The AL East is facing off with the NL Central this year. That one doesn't add up.

The Red Sox will be going up against an NL West team as well. You guys will be facing Arizona next week.

Both the Yankees and the Red Sox face Houston and Cincinnati. Additionally, each team plays these other teams:

Yankees: New York Mets (twice), San Diego, Pittsburgh

Red Sox: Milwaukee, Philadelphia, St Louis, Arizona

While this might not have looked like a huge difference preseason (excepting that the Yankees drew Pittsburgh), with the decline of the Padres and the Mets it's a big difference in the difficulty of the teams' schedules. A weighted average of these twelve games shows the Yankees facing .467 teams and Boston facing .553 teams, and considering the net effect of this difference to be worth about one game in the final standings is probably about right.

Horrible check swing call on Phillips, and the home ump called it himself without allowing the ump up the line to take it.

The ump has a large strikezone tonight. Volquez got a few questionable calls last inning. Unfortunately, the large strikezone is exactly what Mussina needs to have the full smoke and mirrors effect.
