The Twins pitcher, Blackbird was just literally knocked out of the box by an Abreu liner to his face. It was a glancing blow. He got up and left the field under his own power.

Hah! I am a Red Sox fan who lives in NY. I am pretty sure that I can take it. The question is how long will you be able to take what has been getting dished out to Yankee fans for the last 4 years. You could always become a soccer fan.

I'm a Jets fan and a Knicks fan. I'm more than accustomed to not only losing, but watching New England teams prosper.

My point is that vitriol towards the Red Sox during the Yankees 90s run was not nearly as pronounced as it was the other way around in '04 and '07. I get why it was like that, I'm just saying that our side has more incentive than we used to when it comes to gloating, etc.

The rivalry was "hammer and nail" up until 4 seasons ago. Now there's actually something to get fierce about. It'll be more entertaining.

Also, I do follow soccer. The winners of the EPL and Champions League in '08, Manchester United.

BS.

I worked with Yankees fans for decades. They were insufferable and arrogant, most especially, and increasingly, from 1996 to 2003, but even during 1986 through 1990, when all that they could do is accuse Boggs and Clemens of being chokers and talk about how Don Mattingly was destined for the Hall of Fame. The insults in the late 1970's approached those of the 1996-2003 timeframe.

But perhaps the worst thing, ARod2212, is that Yankees fans are still trash-talking the Red Sox. In my circle, it seems that it's all that they know how to do, and that they vacillate between continuing the trash talk ("Jeter rulz;" "Joba-Hughes-Kennedy;" "26 to 6") and whining ("Except for the midges;" "We're alwayz better over 162 games").

What I see is that, for the very first time in my moderately long life, a rival team of the Yankees has acquired a following that approaches the Yankees' huge fan base, and the Yankees have seemed incapable of prevailing for almost half of a decade. Now Yankees fans are getting back something approaching what they've dished out for decades, there's no good comeback, and, suddenly, it sucks being a Yankees fan.

So you revert to whining: "My point is that vitriol towards the Red Sox during the Yankees 90s run was not nearly as pronounced as it was the other way around in '04 and '07."

Yeah, right.

Given the strength of the Rays and the Blue Jays, let alone that of the Red Sox, you might want to adjust your expectations for a few years. The Yankees will continue to be one of MLB's elite teams, but there are four of those elite teams in the AL East right now.

I love how everything is BS to you. Say what you want, but he's right, you guys have dished it worse the past few years than we did during our championships. Yes, I'm sure there are some who were tormenting Red Sox fans, and as a collective fan-base we would get on the Red Sox; but typically only when we were playing them. Our being didn't revolve around hostility towards the Red Sox. If what you guys do is limited to when we play you that's one thing, but it's 24/7, 365 with you guys. Say what you want, call it BS, whatever...but YES analysts don't take jabs at the Red Sox while running their highlights, our newspaper reporters don't take daily shots at the Red Sox, and our front office isn't consumed with the Red Sox (Hank maybe, but he just doesnt know any better  ). I know considering my username I probably lack some credibility on this topic, but that was for fun, a way to show my colors. Was it the best choice, probably not; but in all honesty, I have never tormented an individual Red Sox fan at the Stadium, called them names, started fights, thrown beer, etc. Sure, I've participated in collective 1918 and Boston Sucks chants over the years, but that's about it. There was one other occasion where a group of drunk Sox fans were walking down Rupert Place next to the parking garage at Yankee Stadium and they were talking s*** because I think the Sox hd just beaten the Yanks, and they said something to me specifically so I lashed back and told them to go "Jerk each other off all the way back to Bahhhhston", but thats about it. My username, and the things I say on this website in response to Red Sox taunting are not a true representation of me as a person, or of the Yankee fan base as a whole. I know you guys like to jump on me because of my username and the things I say in defense when I take exception to something said, but you need to start realizing that Sox fans are now so cocky and full of themselves they've become worse than I, or any Yankee fan I personally know has ever been. I can certainly understand it, with all of that tension being built up and having to endure it for so long, but IMO some Sox fans just take it to another extreme sometimes. I don't need to get screamed at and have beer and trash thrown at me on Yawkey Way by some pussy ass abercrombie wearing "fans" before the game even started.

Nothing gets me more though than hearing Red Sox fans tell me how much the Yankees suck, and have this entire decade. Considering we've been in as many World Series, and made the playoffs and won more divisions than you guys in the past 8 years I can't help but chuckle.

and, suddenly, it sucks being a Yankees fan.

It doesn't suck at all. It's the greatest thing in the world. It may have sucked for you guys for so many years being fans of the Red Sox, but no matter what the situation, it never sucks being a fan of the New York Yankees.

Random thought for the day...do ya think Clemens favorite number is ate-teen?

Thank you! This post will be a wonderful source of quotes in the future--that's why I quoted the whole thing before you could edit.

I probably lack some credibility

Did you even rad it? I find it ironic how you make an effort to quote the whole thing "before I can edit," but you conveniently decide to quote a small defaming line from a sentence. Why not quote the whole sentence or statement. While to YOU GUYS it may seem I lack credibility because of my name, I was trying to establish an understanding of my character and how I am towards Sox fans personally. Way to completely disregard that altogether.

Unless you happen to be walking under a beam in Yankee Stadium

the combination of the yankee money, mickey rivers, reggie and that great aviator, thurmon munson made me hate them...before that in the early 70s i couldnt give a f*** less.

the 90s squad was difficult to dislike individually

collectively they played great baseball, hoad courage and dealt with adversity.

then the boss came back into play and once again they were easily hated.

from getting giambi sheffield mussina arod and before that, roger clemens,it was very easy to hate them and now theyre dealing with their worst case scenario which is complete indifference from the rest of the league.

nobody cares or takes them seriously this season and that must go up the old mans ass sideways...

in 04 when the yanks managed to gag up the pennant we had 20,000 sox fans standing on the sox dugout singing sweet caroline in yankee stadium.

the boss left the lights on for the sox fans and instead of liza minelli's version of NY NY they played the sinatra version which never happened after a yanks loss.

that was the end of the yankees owning us forever

he knew it ,we knew it

and it seems the only people who struggle with this concept are some of the ny fans who are dealing with mediocrity underachievement and a rudderless front office who dont know whether to s*** whistle or wind their watch.

its valhalla for many of us

He was one of the few MLB players who preferred playing on a skinned infield.

Mauer ties it up. Pettitte has coughed up 3 leads. Hey Andy, why the long face?
