...and whoever's playing the Yankees - 2008 Game Thread

Chalk this up in the Girardi's inept file. He's running into outs like it's going out of the style tonight. They had success against SD largely due to the fact that Barrett sucks. Enter Cincinnatti, with Bako who's got a decent arm, and he continues the tactic with poor results. Does he really think Jeter and Damon are still speedy?

Moose will probably be getting the loss for this one, but got to love that he pitched deep into the game. The bullpen needs to be saved for tomorrow (who knows what we're going to get from Giese?).

Winning streak ends at 7...understandable considering who started for the Reds. Oh well, just gonna have to start a new streak tomorrow.

...and hopefully that ground out is enough to make Giambi shave that thing above his lip.

The bullpen needs to be saved for tomorrow (who knows what we're going to get from Giese?).[/quote']I love to see him go 8, throw 110 pitches and lose. I want to see lots innings and pitches in the first half of the season so that his arm is a limp noodle by August.

so if our starters go deep in games' date=' their arms will be limp noodles. If our relievers throw a lot of innings, they will be burned out. Which one is it?[/quote']

Little bit of both? :dunno:

Which one is it?[/quote']I want the good performers to get burned out regardless of being a starter or reliever. I don't care if Latroy Hawkin's or Farnsworth's arms fall off. It wouldn't make a difference. Moose has been going well, so I 'd like to see him tire a bit. The only guy in your bulpen that I would want to get burned out is Mo, and Yankee managers realize that he is the golden goose, so that will never happen. So, you ask which is it. The answer is that I'd like your starters to go limp from too many innings, because I believe that if you kill the head (i.e.the starters) that the body (i.e., the bullpen) will die too.

The Reds pitchers just pulled a rock by not covering first on a ball to the first baseman. It's first and third with no one out in the second inning and Thompson looks like he is about to s*** himself.

Whoah! After walking Giambi to load the bases with no one out and after a visit from Dusty Baker, the kid K'd Posada swining on a good change up. Cano foul popped to the catcher on the first pitch (big surprise). With two out he blew away Cabrera swinging with an explosive fastball.

Giese's error hurt. All of them unearned.
Who cares earned or unearned. He left the game on the L side of the ledger. That's really all that matters.

Votto forgets how many outs there are in the 8th inning. That's the 3rd Red in 2 days to forget the number of outs. It's no wonder that the Reds suck.

The Red Sox will be going up against an NL West team as well. You guys will be facing Arizona next week.

So the Yanks get the last place team and the Sox get the first. Fantastic.

So Giambi has worn a G-String and grown a mustache for superstitious reasons. What's next... sacrificing chickens?

if it means he continues his tear, I dont care. He has been on fire of late.

Since starting 12/73 with a .315OBP and a .411 SLG, he has hit .304/.399/.648, good for a 1.047OPS

Robertson's #s in AAA

2-0 1.82 29.2IP 17H 43K 16BB

The only issue is the walks.

But he has cut down on them in his last 10 games (he's only spent 18 games in AAA after his promotion)

1-0 1.08 16.2IP 9H 6BB 29K

Replacing Farnsworth with AAA fodder is robbing Peter to pay Paul.
The yankees should just bring up the whole AAA team. That would be the right thing to do. They should be able to help them win the 27th ring.
