It's nice to hear Hideki is healing well. ESPN brought up August 15th as a possible return date, that's the first time I've heard a date.

I'm not surprised the Marlins are going to win this one. There's only 7000+ at the Stadium, they must feel like they're at home.

Giradi brings in his closer with a 5 run lead? Wow, he really did learn a lot from Torre.

By the time he gets his timing back it'll be Labor Day, and he probably nwon't recover his power stroke until ST 2007. With his diminished skill level, he'll be a step down from Melky.

2runs in 2games

theyre blessed they didnt get swept

wow

they need help

Uh, not really. One of those games was pitched by an ace (Dontrelle) and the Yankees, with or without their big bats, always are pathetic against rookies.

That's a shocker. I thought for sure when I saw it happen, he was done for the year.

Being pathetic against rookies? That's not a problem?

getting shut down at home against dontrelle willis and anibal sanchez?

willis is 4-7 with an era of 4 in the n.l,he has been coming on a bit

however

that doesnt translate well into the american league

sachez never pitched in the majors

check out the bullpen florida used in the nitecap

Anibal Sanchez (W 1-0) 5.2 7 0 0 0 2 0 96-63 0.00

Randy Messenger 1.1 0 0 0 1 0 0 24-13 3.25

Logan Kensing 1.0 0 0 0 1 1 0 14-7 3.38

Joe Borowski 1.0 0 0 0 0 1 0 10-6 3.45

the bottom 3 didnt allow a yankee hit for the last 3 1/3

How longs Cano out for?

I haven't heard anything more about it since last night. Hopefully not for long, he's been one of our team's strongest players in June.

It's a problem, of course, but it's one this team has had for awhile (even last year.) This isn't the first time they've made a rookie look like Roger Clemens, and it probably isn't the last.

Borowski is a veteran, Messenger pitched a bit last year, and Kensing is basically a rookie, appearing in 8 games combined over 2004 and 2005. Sanchez, of course, a Red Sox farmhand, made his Major League debut last night.

ya i know who they are coco

i just found it amazing that they can shut down a lineup that was supposed to score 1000 runs

The lineup with Matsui and Sheffield was supposed to score 1000 runs, not the one playing these days.

Posted
Yeah hopefully when those two return they will be rested and ready for the stretch. Like I've said before, as long as the Yanks keep it close once those guys come back they will be in serious contention to take first in the AL East.

So if Manny and Ortiz were both injured, and the Sox slipped to second place, you would concede that we just arent the same team anymore and we dont suck? Or would you take every opportunity to remind us you were ahead?

I love how Yankee fans think Sheff and Matsui will just hit the ground running when they return from their injuries. Both of them injured ligaments in their wrists. It is going to take awhile for their timing, feel, and even partial power to return. The current version of Milk-O-Mania in LF, the one hitting just over two-bits, will probably provide more offensive pop than either of them when they first get back.

In other news, Secretariat hits a 2-run shot to make it 2-0 in the 1st.

Its been reported now that the Brewers sent a scout to watch the Yankees' Philip Hughes, adding fuel to the rumor that Yankees are interested in acquiring Carlos Lee. Personally I feel it would be a bad move on Cashman's part. Hughes is looking like a bonafide pitching prospect that could be a #2 or 1 someday. Besides you guyys already have enough offense to carry the rest of the season

IMO thats some wishful thinking by a Brewers paper.

The AA team is were the bulk of the Yanks talent is right now so I think he was there to scout the whole team and not just Hughes

Cashman has already said he wont trade Hughes unless young pitching is coming back the Yankees way.

Plus I doubt the Yanks would trade there top pitching prospect for a player who is going to be a FA at the end of the year, is a OF, and is 30+ years old.

I think this is the Yankees covering there basis. I think BC is sick of dealing w/ Bowden and his demands so now he has switched to the Brewers and has told them to look over there minor League system and see if there is a deal that can be struck for Lee. In the end I would not be seriously dissapointed if the Yanks gave up what most consider to be a top 3 pitcher in all of the minor leagues for a 30 year old OF

Posted
It was 5-2 when he brought in Mo, Proctor gave up 2run homer in the 9th and then another hit.
I know, and I am so glad. I hope Joe uses him every day.

stranger things haver happened.

sometimes we (we being non-Yankee fans) get caught up thinking in terms of our own teams situations...i.e. the Sox wouldn't likely make such a move.

However the Yankees operate under different circumstances and with vastly greater resources and while such a deal may not immediately be about money, money enters into the equation at some point.

For example a minor league system can be somewhat restocked by accepting trades of older over-priced players (aka salary dump) assuming young pitching talent accompanies the albatross they accept.

as long as steinberger has had his hands on this organization theyve become

""group stupid""

they make moves just to spite the redsox such as the jeff weaver denny neagle deals

they grabbed up contreras after theo booked the entire resort he was staying in paying him 32/4 meanwhile his family was still in havana

they grabbed vasquez because they knew we were hot for him, same thing with arod

they traded a very affordable young player who was a 40/40 guy because steenberger knew we were hot for him

all the above moves were made to spite boston

not to improve the yankee lineup

that ********** gets exactly what he deserves

a 200M payroll that eagerly awaits the arrival of octavio dotel as its savior

Yankees used 5 pitchers agains tonight. Farnsworthless let the game get out of hand. He's not a very reliable late inning guy.

Edit: make that 6 players used.

He went from being an icon on the first place team to being just another player on the second place team.
