  1. Probably nothing, but looked better than I thought. Might be a good depth piece or a lottery ticket in a trade.
  2. I only saw one game in ST, and I watched that game while trying to watch Painter at the same time. But I like pitchers that can keep giving the hitters new looks. But just as important, he can throw a FB with enough authority that he can use it when behind 2-0, 3-1, etc., without getting hurt.
  3. Most pitchers with more than two pitches get a shot starting. Nothing unusual. In fact, I think it would be more unusual to not give him a shot.
  4. i think of it as a W/W/W. A bit more seasoning, regular work, innings controlled, and the extra season never hurts. That said, while I think Early is about who he is, I think Tolle can improve. I also don't want any interruptions. This can't be controlled, but if/when they are called up, I am hoping that they are told that the starting gig is theirs and there is no going back.
  5. When one employs the use of sarcasm, it is best to keep it brief. Nick wrote a small book.
  6. They use to have a Bob Villa type show called Restore America, iirc. There was an episode where some guy buys a brownstone in Brownsville in Brooklyn. It wasn't a nice area at the time. The dude said he loved doing woodwork. The brownstone had been boarded into an SRO. This guy took everything apart. He tore down some drywall and found a marble fireplace behind it. He removed probably 50 years of paint from a staircase and found out everything underneath was pristine mahogany, both the walls and stair case. The thing was a palace when he finished. I still remember that from 20 years ago.
  7. I'm interested. But how often would this be? I'm not sure I have enough original thoughts to manage much more than once a week. In any case, I wrote a quick write-up of my interests of the day. LMK what you think. Stuff I Think About 3.19.26.docx
  8. Would an Alex Jackson trade make sense. He has the bona fides, but was pretty much awful before last year, but had a pretty decent year, in a very small sample. Demote Wong, and give Jackson 6-8 weeks of backup duty.
  9. ROTFLMAO! Still in ST, but you are in regular season form. I got to find a way to use that line in conversations. It also feels like we should give Samaniego more of a look.
  10. I try not to get my hopes up, but he was consistently throwing 4 good pitches. And had just enough heat to get some tough strikes when he needed them.
  11. Just busting chops. I had to do bank counts there as a kid. Half the branches were in areas that it wasn't safe to walk around. The same areas are now too expensive for me to walk around.
  12. If you don't mind me asking, how did you arrive at your user name? And Brooklyn is a slum. Best reagrds, A Bronx native
  13. Or they have to make Venezuela the 51st state.
  14. I agree 100% on everything. A WBC title means more to them than it does to us. And I loved the dude they interviewed that kept saying 'God is great'. That sheer outpouring of emotion was great to see.
  15. A lot of minor league hitters in the lineup, but those numbers are impressive against anyone.
  16. I wouldn't try to massage too much of a message from the small sample. LF (1 GS), CF (7), DH (1), RF (0), SS (0), and 2B (54). That looks to me like he was their primary 2B, who filled in in the OF to give players a little rest. If I had to draw a conclusion, it looks like all of KC's starts in CF put Ceddanne on the bench. In every game KC played CF, Hamilton played 2B. In all those games, we faced a righty SP. So Cora was playing L/R matchups between Ceddanne & Hamilton.
  17. But wouldn't that be offset by the fact that Yoshida bats cleanup for the mighty Japan? edit: I feel more concerned about Gray's location today than about the WBC results.
  18. I have a friend who knows 'real' baseball inside and out. And he thinks KC can eventually play 2nd. That's good enough for me. And just recent RS history, two years ago, Romy was absolutely Brady-esque at 2nd. One year later, he's still weak, but good enough that his bat makes his glove acceptable.
  19. I didn't notice. But of all the guys that I worry about, he's at the bottom of the list.
  20. "Great" can be an elusive, and expensive, goal.
  21. The 600/650 split is not precise on the individual level. Nor is my preference in using 600. Close enough either way.
  22. Very sad. I knew I was missing someone, but tbh, when I originally was thinking this through, I had IKF on the bench. I guess that against the really tough LHs, we could start IKF in the IF and Durbin at DH.
  23. Probably 100% correct. Lots of poor fielders get starting gigs because they have a bat, and the team has no better alternatives.
  24. Contreras was also a catcher. Over the past 7 seasons, he's averaged 29.8/600 ABs.
