  1. Not deemed serious is kind of relative, imo. If Story is out 2 weeks or 2 months, I don't care. Crochet, OTOH, ...........
  2. That is 100% what I had in mind. Our 7-8-9 inning guys have done really well. But some of the others just don't look like they are going to win games for us, though they might blow less games.
  3. Why would the Boston press do such a thing?
  4. Throw in the 9/1 K/W. He's most a wildcard right now, but he looks a lot better than some of the other guys we re-cycle thru.
  5. 1-I'd target Adames, but wouldn't pay full freight. My figuring is that SF paid $182M/7, or $26M per. They backloaded the contract, and since he is starting to age, SF shouldn't get the benefit of the backload. They kick in ~ $26M. In return, they get a real, but not premium prospect. 2-I like Garcia a lot, but I'd be shocked if KC traded him, unless it was a robbery.
  6. That's not completely unfair, but when we traded for Schwarber, he didn't have a single inning at 1st, and still gave it a shot. He was awful, but one of my favorite moments of that season was when he fielded a routine grounder at 1st, ran to 1st for the 3rd out, and started jumping up and down in a mock celebration. I think it made the team more relaxed and they appreciated the effort.
  7. It feels like we are hitting better, but these are the ERAs over the past 4 weeks from our SPs: Gray 2.00 Tolle 2.35 Suarez 3.80 Early 1.78 Bello 2.67 Total 2.50 The 10-3 is a bit misleading since Bello's opener might take a couple of losses in games where he cannot get a win, but that's pretty darn good. We need another RP. Winning every game with a Slaten-Whitlock-Chapman close-out is less than sustainable, unless we get about 80 appearances from them.
  8. Always good to hear people that believe in regressing to historical norms.
  9. 14/8 K/W in his last 11 games in AAA. Guerrero has a 9/1 K/W in the majors.
  10. I'm not seeing anything in his stats. Guerrero has been performing better.
  11. Small sample sizes, blah blah blah, reversion to the mean, blah blah blah. I mentioned this once before that in the RSN, and 0-4 means your career was over. And no one objected.
  12. That's not unusual in the US, but it is more common among RS fans. It's like you are either a star, or a bum.
  13. I expect him to revert to his his historical hitting numbers, mostly. But his career 1st half OPS is higher than his 2nd half.
  14. Why not? Are you saying you can't be friends with someone that exaggerates? I use to hang with a kid that came from a family of fine comedians. He'd start with a story about his girlfriend coming over, and five minutes later, he's talking about sneaking out of a bathroom window with nothing but a towel wrapped around, so he could use the neighbors phone to make a SB bet (he had some problems). You knew it was BS, but it didn't stop it from being pee-in-your-pants funny.
  15. Well, we also have more 2B and 3Bs than MIL, as well as more HRs. One-off samples don't do anything for me, but we are 10th in doubles and 5th in triples.
  16. I'm still a 5 year run(+). Never said anything about Casas. Even without the injury, he is buried on the depth chart. And I am still happy with the guys we got over Bregman, Alonso, Bichette, and Marte. And I still like Paredes.
  17. Slam dunk. I have no idea why some fans want him traded.
  18. There is no chance we are trading Duran for Adames, even if SF picked up the entire salary. Who suggested that?
  19. IKF has the same bWAR as Mayer, Story and Durban combined. Does the crowd still want to DFA him?
  20. If you want to pay full freight for Devers and his -0.1 bWAR, I'm guessing that SF would send him back tomorrow. I'd actually like to trade for Devers, but there is no chance I'd pay the full remaining $240M+ contract. Would anyone in here do so?
  21. Probably, but given the RS history of describing injuries as minor, and then losing guys for the season, I don't feel like giving any of them the benefit of the doubt. edit-Excellent comment.
  22. Neither, actually. He doesn't think, so he is neither dumb nor smart. My wife always questions me about one of my friends, asking if he thinks we are stupid enough to believe his BS. I tried to explain that he doesn't think that deeply. He just says things at random.
