  1. Not just that, but over the past 12 games, the Red Sox have the best record in the ALE,
  2. Bregman figured to be a pretty big bat. And I'd make a decent sized wager that Ranger+Durbin out-performs Bregman.
  3. It's early imo. You seldom have any sure things, but Duran has a 121/132/116 OPS+ over the past three years. That's pretty consistent.
  4. I'm not sure that even substituting schwarber's .882 OPS for Yoshida's .889 OPS is that much of an improvement. Especially if it came at the price of not signing Suarez.
  5. 1-How did thy drop the ball on not signing him? You have to put a number on a player and be willing to walk away. 2-And while I did not agree on Bregman, I don't see how making him #1 on their list constitutes a failure. Someone has to be #1 on your list.
  6. Sure. If we had Paredes -0.1 bWAR instead of Durbin's 0.0, then we'd be much better off, assuming one believes that a worse bWAR is better than a better bWAR. Not to mention Paredes would've cost us Abreu, our best player. Some of the takes in here are embarrassing.
  7. The real Raffy had a 4.7 bWAR last year.
  8. The NYY have 4 regulars with a .180, .164, .130 and .167.
  9. I thought it was because he struck out his first AB in spring training?
  10. I wouldn't do that over a longer period, or I'd lose my accounting card. But when the sample starts off very, very small, it sometimes makes sense to make the sample even smaller. Relative to the talent base, I am more comfortable with Durbin reaching his projections than I am with Anthony.
  11. At 24, it became easier to indulge my worser instincts. At 18, I was working at a beer distributor. I didn't make any real money, but the environment was surprisingly a lot healthier than when I started working in an office.
  12. It almost feels like you are suggesting that young players come in and improve as they gain experience.
  13. He's been fine over the past 12 games.
  14. I don't mind gambling on the R5 guys, but this is as far as I'll go. It feels like we have better guys available.
  15. I'm pretty happy where I am, but occasionally miss being 18 again.
  16. Some of the truest sports words ever. No one is ever as good as they look when they are going well. And no one is ever as bad as they look when they are going poorly. The BJs, Phillies, Mariners and Mets are unlikely to finished as badly as they are playing.
  17. While that could certainly be true, the vast majority of our under-production is due to the guys we came in with. Our regular lineup was always going to be: Narvaez -.277 1B 2B/3B Story -.219 Mayer RA -.185 Raffy Abreu Duran -.255 We weren't replacing Narvaez, Story, Anthony or Duran. But if those four guys were hitting the same as they did in 2025, our team OPS would be .737, good for #6. One could go to the next step and make the assumption that there was no one out (as of today) that would've been a better acquisition than Contreras. That would leave only Durbin as someone to upgrade. And adding Bichette (.538), Bregman (.623), Marte (.663) or Paredes (.565), instead of Durbin (.495), scarcely qualifies as an upgrade, particularly considering the alternative use of the money (Suarez).
  18. I feel the grind. From 5 GG yesterday "I just wanted to sit down on a Saturday afternoon with a beer and watch the ballgame... " Just change that the 'Saturday' to 'Sunday', and my work here is finished.
  19. Playing hold'em at the Tropicana in LV. Had an AK, and the flop came down AKT. 4 other players had huge hands. A made straight, a set of 10s, a nut flush draw, and two pair. Always interesting when you move all-in a and four players call you. I wanted the pot, but the RS win was a nice consolation prize.
  20. That's a generic statement true for every team. If the RS, BJs, Mariners, NYM. Phillies and the Cubs continue to play badly, they will all miss the playoffs.
  21. Who was the main piece?
  22. He'll get a lot of time. He has a 3/4 K/W over the past 10 games. IMVHO, one cheap Fenway HR will get him going. It's worth noting he had a .501 OPS in '25 thru his first 89 ABs, and a .776 the remainder of the season.
  23. I made a note yesterday to my NLE friends about the NYM OBP. 6 guys under .300, 2 guys over, plus Menendez who only had 4 ABs going in. Lots of teams without hitting.
  24. I see that a lot. The dude with the 6.14 going against the guy with the 2.22 and you'd think the odds would be off the table.
  25. Nice analysis. Now we need everyone in the rotation to put together 2-3 of their good starts, and not the one on/one off stuff we've been seeing.
