  1. Don't the pitch calls come from the dugout?
  2. I was told that the RS were not hitting in the first two games. There is no such thing as a SSS if 2 games is the stipulation.
  3. 5.5 rpg over the past two games. B-Ref doesn't list league leaders over two-day samples, but 5.5 rpg is a lot.
  4. Over the past 7 days, 3rd in OPS. Over the past 14 days, 1st in OPS. Over the past 28 days, 1st in OPS.
  5. That doesn't mean he controls where the pitch goes. If the pitcher throws it three inches outside, there is not a single thing in the world he can do about it. Unless you think he intentionally told the pitcher to throw balls instead of strikes.
  6. It's the ghost of every manager. I think a good manager should be able to tell you of a day off two weeks in advance.
  7. And therein lies the problem. Everyone gets hot and cold. And they general have decent rides in one of the other. With Duran, it's hard to know if he'll have 5 HRs in two weeks, or 5 hits in two weeks.
  8. He's a UIF. Guys that are UIF's play wherever there is a need. Neither the RS nor Mil necessarily likes him at any position.
  9. MLB-R this morning- He leads the league with 17 RBI in the ninth inning or later (h/t ESPN Insights on X). Obviously there is some luck to that, but still pretty impressive.
  10. LMK when they open up the bidding. I want a piece of this.
  11. Even up 4, I<'m> still <not> getting up to cash my ticket.
  12. -1.5 to the NYY and -5 to TB. It's such a funny game. We got hot, and I thought we had a chance to catch both, maybe. Then we lost 5 in a row and got down 10 games behind the Rays and 6 behind the Yankees, and I was figuring 'okay, things went sideways, but we're still a solid bet to be in the playoffs'. Which still would've been fine, but now we are back in it. But must focus on nothing but tomorrow night's game.
  13. Then, as a catcher, I object to Wong walking people.
  14. I just checked July + August, and it certainly does seem possible. We had a Py W/L of .710 over those two months, against an actual record of .745. So even if we were playing over our heads, we were still playing really well.
  15. I don't even think Wong should be pitching.
  16. Yup, I don't remember who said it, but someone asked "Are you like Fats Domino?" and the response was "No, I'm more like a Chubby Checker". And the Beatles were named after the Crickets, which was incredibly audacious at the time.
  17. It's fascinating to watch. Everyone in BB gets hot and cold. But for the RSN, when someone like Money gets hot, the fans think he's great, until he's not. Now it's Gaspar's time.
  18. The Caleb Williams era. Wake me up when it counts.
  19. Have not checked, but that sounds impossible.
  20. It feels like fans and writers all make the same mistake. It's like players are either stars, or they are bums. Hamilton is the same player he's always been. Either a low-end starter or a very high-end UIF. Much like Sogard, Seigler, and Money.
  21. I'm not sure MLB is intent on a cap. There are 5 super-cap team, plus 4 expensive teams. Why should 21 teams go on strike to help cap 9 teams? And those five top teams pay almost a half-billion in CBT. And the lower ten teams probably just want to share the top team's revenue. I think the owners want to make more money, but I think they will push a cap as long as they can, and then settle on winning several smaller battles.
  22. I'm very pro-review in its current format, but that's not a knock on the umpires. The chances of getting every pitch right is essentially -0-. If we can spend an extra 2 minutes a game (sponsored Draftkings) getting 6 important pitches right, I think it is a slam-dunk. And no one mentions it, but it has worked so well, that I wouldn't even bother using it fulltime.
  23. I've never seen it work. I've seen batters cut down, but then lose some of their aggressiveness. PCA has moved in a positive direction, maybe Ceddanne can follow. Even a marginal improvement each year would be big.
  24. I'm hoping that's the song they play when he enters the game. Even the non-musical part 'Eli's comiiiiiiing'. Unfortunately, we have no one the 40 for 'Jose's on his way'.
