    Then, IMO, it is better to say he got hit by a pitch and missed the season, than to say he was a flop.

    I know some posters don't like to consider money, but you can't have a serious conversation if one does not want to consider the alternative uses of the cash. And that's only one consideration. Bregman is a fine player, but I'd wager that Durbin will be better in 2029-2030.

    I think that's a huge question to be answered. Just taking a look at the OPSa for Tolle, Bennet & Suarez, it looks like Gaspar out-performed Wong. And I don't hate Wong, but if Gasper can be a BUC, that lightens up a crowded DH situation considerably. But that's just my accounting-level review.

    Not that it would've made a difference, but using Miller as the first guy in seemed like an odd decision in the playoffs.

    I still think that neither Emmitt Smith (while playing) and Myles Garrett are obese.

    According to the FO, Sandoval had 17% body fat. If he was that skinny, I think you can be too.

    I'm still amazed by how many RS hate the guy. He went from an outstanding 5.74 bWAR/650 PAs, to a good 3.35, and they turned on him. He only has a 3.02/650 with Mil, and now they love him. He's a top-tier super-sub, but doesn't hit 40 HRs.

    I kid and I snark and all, but this is incredibly cool.

    They also do a lot more than say 'pull the ball in the air'. The RS have added a lot of bat speed to some of their kids. A lot of what they do is bio-mechanics.

    Durbin is definitely a starter. Seigler and Money only got the ABs they did because of injuries, but they are fine as bench pieces. On the rest of it, I agree. I most definitely think OBP works, but we just didn't do a good job of it.

    I think both sides have to start with the data. One simply has to accept things like L/R splits. OTOH, the 3rd time thru the lineup is a little more grey. A lot of times, you need to see how the pitcher is performing, and that takes a trained eye.

    I've noticed that as well. I do believe that some players are better in the clutch, but mostly that is a random calculation.

    You're overweight, but not obese. I think doctors only use BMI to justify medical procedures.

    Emmitt Smith was more obese than Rutschman (and me) with a BMI of 32.6. Myles Garrett should be kicked out of FB for having a BMI of 33.1. I'm not sure I can trust a calculation that tells me that I am in better shape than Smith and Garrett. But Rut should lose 20 pounds if he wants to be taken seriously as a future FA.

    I don't see Abrams at all. DLC is a star, and a clear-cut SS for us. Abrams has already played himself off of SS. If we acquired him, it's a toss-up between him and Mead at 2, with the loser going to DH. If the return is cheap enough, then anything is good. But imo, the cost to acquire will be more than he is worth. And while I don't hold a person's past against him, the casino issue has to be considered.

    Gaspar is a guy that I'd really like to keep. But to do so, that really requires a position for him. And if he is a strong-side platoon at DH, then we aren't adding anyone else at DH.

    IMO, it will be at least one more year. And it is very possible he becomes a low-end trade chip. He needs to demonstrate health and hitting, and won't bring the return he would've 3 years ago, but such is life. I think someone will be looking for a LH 1B, even as a throw-in on a larger deal.

    They're beautifully put together. They can literally use all 26 of their players. Kind of funny, but like a year ago, all I heard was 'get rid of Hamilton'. I haven't heard a peep lately.

    C'mon, that is complete nonsense. He got hit by a pitch and was out for the season. That's like saying my Ferrari sucks because it just got pancaked by a meteor. Besides, "but 11 ip is hardly a sample to assess" something-something-something.
