    I wouldn't do that. I've preached patience with Duran, but I can easily see why fans wanted some change. This is not like some of the posts where fans turn on players for a bad week, or a bad outing. or in the case of Fred, two bad ABs in the 1st ST game. And I still like Duran, but there is almost no guarantee that he will continue his mini-streak, or conversely, go on an even bigger bender.

And the FP is very good. How do we know he lacks range?

    Not that he batting well, but his BABIP has something to do with his lowered numbers. Maybe .262? His earlier numbers might be overrated by the .340 BABIP he had thru 2025.

    Just my amateur opinion, but Money reminds me of X. Nothing special for sure, but the .978 fielding % counts for something.

    As I always said, the May trade wasn't a bad trade; it just didn't work out. That happens sometimes.

    Around here, every RS player is about a 5-game streak away from demands for an arrest, or demands for an extension. For one poster, I think his attention span is about two ABs before he makes a decision.

    That's the way it goes. If you sign them earlier, they are more risky but less expensive. And if you wait for them to have 1-2 big years, they are less risky but more expensive.

    There are so many variables to this. I think most Angel fans hate it, but I would've kept Ohtani and gone for it. But if I did trade Ohtani, it would have been 1.5 years earlier. And every Angel fan loved the Trout extension, until they didn't.

    Our current LF has a .671 OPS over his last 40 games with a slightly low .277 BABIP. And a current month OPS of .789 with a BABIP of .286. 4 HRs and a 3/1 SB/CS in 64 ABs.

    Whip doesn't account for FB/GB differentials. Weissert's WHIP is fine. It's the FB% that is killing him.

    His FB% is at 32.6%. That's dangerous.

    OPS (& FIP) is a better measure for an RP in the short-term, but career numbers usually reflect OPS over the long run.

    I think we've only had one BP game in the 2nd half, and that was during a doubleheader.

    Knowing how hot Arias is, and know how cold Story was, history still suggests Story will out-perform in the short run. And Story is an existential type of decision. If we go with Arias, then Story gets cut. If Arias hits .200, we won't have Story to fall back on.

    I wasn't going to respond, but since you did, it is worth noting (or notin?) that Weissert's ERA+ is 100 this year and 120 for his career.

    I don't see it. Is someone saying that the RS won't promote Arias because there might be a work stoppage in 2027? I don't get it.

    It's pretty interesting. At least in Newport, it's a nice beach town, and the mansions have held up. In NYC, they built some of those joints and tore them them down before they were even fully depreciated. I calculated that the Vanderbilts spent well in excess of $100M on mansions, at a time when $100M was real money.

    That's my fear. I won't go into my psyche101 psycho-babble, but what would the affect on team chemistry be if we simply released Story, held a team meeting (including IKF, Anthony, Crochet, etc.), and told them that this was their team, and that we are officially riding with you guys. With the usual qualifier that some injured guys replace healthy guys, and some major/minor league moves. But does it make a statement to know that this team is the 26/40?

    After accounting for BABIP, Duran was probably our best lead-off hitter with 9 HRs and a 8/0 SB in 184 ABs. Unfortunately, Ks also count. If Anthony can resume his career OBP, that would be a significant upgrade.

    Hard to believe that someone with a 109 career OPS+ could have a 111 CY OPS+.

    I've said this often enough, but I thought that was the biggest plus of the Schwarber addition. He swung at strikes, and he laid off balls. Sometimes that's catchy.

    I like to see that. Nothing fancy. Just take a pitch you can handle and loft it into the outfield. A few too many guys swing from the heels in that situation. I remember Ricky Henderson telling Canseco, 'do you know how many times Mattingly left me on 3rd? Never, not once'.

    So are demoting him, or extending him? I'm a little behind.

    I don't mind the K, but the challenge was awful. That early in the game, a 0-0 count, you should be right at least 95% of the time. That was closer to down-the-middle than a ball. Now we can't make any challenges for the next 6 innings.
