  1. Story annoys me on several levels, but I felt good for him tonight. Even beyond a big win, I'm happy to see something go right for him. And I think he felt the same way; seemed to be relishing the moment.
  2. For a guy that can't play 1st, he looked okay. I'd obviously prefer Contreras, but Gaspar did okay.
  3. IMVHO, if we can skip Gray, we can skip Suarez. At this point, we'd have to play really bad to not make the playoffs, or play really well to catch the NYY. I'd probably skip one start for our top 3-4 SPs.
  4. I'd bet on a top-10 offense and wouldn't think twice about it. I'd bet on a .700+ from the top 8 hitters, and Story has a decent shot at a .700 as well.
  5. Romy has a stronger major history and the quality of the ABs count more than the OPS. Most of KC's stats derive from one game. If you want to exclude yesterday's game, then he has 1 HR and 27 Ks in 26 games. That won't hold up in the pros.
  6. I'm thinking in terms of what we have today, and what our projections are going forward. We just lost Contreras and I'd still bet on an above-average OPS in September,
  7. Before yesterday, he had a 27/15 K/W with 1 HR in 88 ABs. I'd need real info before making a decision, like EV, barrel %, etc., but those numbers need to be a lot more compelling. He's had only glimpses of even being a AAA hitter: 5/6-7/22 -0- HRs and 61 Ks in 154 ABs 7/25-8/30 1 HR and 27 Ks 88 ABs He's been really, really, really bad this year.
  8. KC is a mirage, until he proves otherwise. If he makes the 2027 team out of ST, I'll be very happy.
  9. That happens to every team. But Mead and Anthony should be substantially better than those they are replacing.
  10. Romy has looked better, with a 3/6 K/W and 2 HRs in his last 8 games.
  11. The offense is already okay. We are 9th in OPS. We might be 4th with Mead and Anthony.
  12. There is not a chance that anyone will know. I could've sworn I heard complaints about the RS being unable to score in the past few days. This is like lighting a Roman Candle and trying to predict where it will land.
  13. Yup, both him and Crochet. Both guys are legit, big talents. The rest of the rehabbing guys range from fringy to 'okay'. Maybe Slaten and Mead, but both are too far away.
  14. This could be something as simple as creating a roster based on today's lineup.
  15. Most of those 'clutch' numbers are a mirage. He's done well in the 9th because he has guys on base and because his BABIP is .480. His career 9th inning numbers are 2 HRs in 200 ABs, with a 66/18 K/W. Combine that with his results against lefties, then he is not a very good bet in that situation.
  16. Those were great. Back when I was barely making above minimum wage, I'd stop by YS for a DH and sit in the bleachers. It was so cheap, I wouldn't care if the first game was halfway done, and I could leave the 2nd game early if I wanted to, and still get my 9 innings.
  17. Fans need to appreciate the fight. It was their #1, probably CY winner, against out #5, at their stadium. We were a substantial dog in the game.
  18. I don't think we have much of a concern there. On offense, Contreras is over-achieving and Duran is under-achieving. Everyone else looks like within ~ 5% of their expectations. On the pitching side, Gray is over-achieving, maybe Bennett mostly because we don't know what to expect. And imo, Suarez & Bello are under-achieving. I see nothing out of the ordinary.
  19. A borderline talent, that missed a year due to injury, is very unlikely to be penciled in for a rotation slot. I think Houck probably has as good a chance coming out of ST as Oviedo, or possibly Crawford .
  20. Well, Sandy did his job. Now the lineup needs to support that effort.
  21. In a game with Sandy v Schlittler, at YS, down 1-0 after 5 is still okay. 3.2 IPs left to get to him or get to the BP.
  22. While that's usually true, with this team, and in this season, I'm not sure anything means anything. I think we can beat anyone, and I think we can lose to anyone.
