  1. ROTFLMAO! Still in ST, but you are in regular season form. I got to find a way to use that line in conversations. It also feels like we should give Samaniego more of a look.
  2. I try not to get my hopes up, but he was consistently throwing 4 good pitches. And had just enough heat to get some tough strikes when he needed them.
  3. Just busting chops. I had to do bank counts there as a kid. Half the branches were in areas that it wasn't safe to walk around. The same areas are now too expensive for me to walk around.
  4. If you don't mind me asking, how did you arrive at your user name? And Brooklyn is a slum. Best reagrds, A Bronx native
  5. Or they have to make Venezuela the 51st state.
  6. I agree 100% on everything. A WBC title means more to them than it does to us. And I loved the dude they interviewed that kept saying 'God is great'. That sheer outpouring of emotion was great to see.
  7. A lot of minor league hitters in the lineup, but those numbers are impressive against anyone.
  8. I wouldn't try to massage too much of a message from the small sample. LF (1 GS), CF (7), DH (1), RF (0), SS (0), and 2B (54). That looks to me like he was their primary 2B, who filled in in the OF to give players a little rest. If I had to draw a conclusion, it looks like all of KC's starts in CF put Ceddanne on the bench. In every game KC played CF, Hamilton played 2B. In all those games, we faced a righty SP. So Cora was playing L/R matchups between Ceddanne & Hamilton.
  9. But wouldn't that be offset by the fact that Yoshida bats cleanup for the mighty Japan? edit: I feel more concerned about Gray's location today than about the WBC results.
  10. I have a friend who knows 'real' baseball inside and out. And he thinks KC can eventually play 2nd. That's good enough for me. And just recent RS history, two years ago, Romy was absolutely Brady-esque at 2nd. One year later, he's still weak, but good enough that his bat makes his glove acceptable.
  11. I didn't notice. But of all the guys that I worry about, he's at the bottom of the list.
  12. "Great" can be an elusive, and expensive, goal.
  13. The 600/650 split is not precise on the individual level. Nor is my preference in using 600. Close enough either way.
  14. Very sad. I knew I was missing someone, but tbh, when I originally was thinking this through, I had IKF on the bench. I guess that against the really tough LHs, we could start IKF in the IF and Durbin at DH.
  15. Probably 100% correct. Lots of poor fielders get starting gigs because they have a bat, and the team has no better alternatives.
  16. Contreras was also a catcher. Over the past 7 seasons, he's averaged 29.8/600 ABs.
  17. Sounds right. They can start 7 position players v lefties: C-Narvaez 1B-Conteras 2B-Monasterio SS-Story 3B-IKF LF- CF-Ceddanne RF-RA (good splits) I'm not at all concerned with having to start Duran & Abreu against lefties.
  18. So was I? I'm getting a bad feeling that I need more caffeine.
  19. I'd like to see at least a semi-dominant performance from Gray tonight. It doesn't count for much, but I'd like to see some momentum from our pitchers.
  20. Every team has a construct where there is something they are not good at. The Brewers finished 22nd in HRs (but 1st in OBP), Cincy 21st (but 15th in OBP), and the Padres 28th (but 9th in OBP). It's the totality of the numbers that count.
  21. Just circling back on this (Durbin), there are very few reasons to not lock him up, even at his advanced age. There are guys that we can be reasonably sure we will give a number of chances to. So let's say we offer to lock in Durbin for three years for $3M. That represents an excess over his minimum salary for about $750k ($3M - $750k*3). The $750k represents our risk. In return, he gives us 4th, 5th, and 6th year options for $2M, $4M, and $6M. So if the upside of his performance is that he can earn $3M, $6M and $9M, then our risk is the $750k v the reward of $6M. If this was real life, I'd discount both the $750k and $6M to reflect what I expect by way of under- and over-production. And I'd use McNeil as his comp.
  22. At this point, I'd be leaning towards taking advantage of the fact that Wong has options and Thaiss does not. Demote Wong, and if Thaiss struggles, cut him and bring Wong back.
  23. Pedro and Crochet were both trade-and-extend guys. The whole 'elite' thing means that there are very few of them.
  24. If I have 9 2.5 WAR guys at $1M, then I will eventually have Skubal, Skenes, Crochet, Yamamoto and Brown. We'd have $250M to spend. I could probably do without one of those SPs, and add another $50M position player.
