  1. One of my co-workers told me his brother use to prepare accounting reports for someone in the Forex department. They got along well, so the forex guy asked him if he wanted to change jobs. He went from being an $80k accountant to being a $300k currency trader. Back when that was real money.
  2. From The Rolling Stone Yet perhaps most remarkable was the speed at which the matter was seemingly resolved. Acting with uncharacteristic swiftness, the federal government issued a scathing criminal complaint against Mizuhara just three weeks later — on April 11 — that supported Ohtani’s narrative. The Feds usually move at a snails pace.
  3. You haven't checked your account in 30 years? Just imho, that's not something I'd recommend. I don't check my account every day, but I update my spreadsheets once a week. It keeps me apprised of how I'm doing, as well giving me a chance of catch anything unusual. How do you even know how much you have in the account? Or what you are invested in?
  4. Yeah, but NY is where QBs go to disappear, only to re-emerge elsewhere as a star.
  5. Nice write-up. BP has him #82. That's pretty good for someone you rank #7.
  6. There are an easy dozen stories that are almost impossible to explain away. How does an interpreter, making $200k/year, get a multi-million $$$ line of credit. How does an interpreter manage to swindle banks out of $16M+++? How does Bowers get a one-year jail sentence for taking maybe $100M worth of bets? Ippie tells Ohtani's accountants/financial team that they aren't allowed to examine an account with $16M+ in it, and no one thinks to ask Ohtani to confirm it? The scam goes on for maybe 26 months, and in all that time, Ohtani does not look at one single bank statement? All this is impossible in the real world.
  7. I know Fred is the only one that believes in ST numbers, but for those that do: Alonso OPS is .792 and Contreras is at 1.563. Schwarber is at .833 while Duran is at 2.167.
  8. That's one that they should've talked about.
  9. K/W is up to 9/1, often against minor league pitchers. This is worrisome.
  10. The cash was $6.7M higher in exchange for 2 extra years of service. The PV average was a fair bit lower.
  11. FWIW, while Ohtani got away with it, his interpreter was still part of it. He either stole the money, or he made the transfers on behalf of Ohtani. Both are crimes. That said, I'm pretty sure his interpreter will be taken care of.
  12. The RS offer, from what I heard, was $300M/10. The LAD present value offer was $306.7M/12. The RS offer, if true, was more lucrative. Covid probably impacted that, but that's impossible to calculate.
  13. Right now, this is all for fun. But there should be some natural association with a country before you can play for them. The whole idea is to root for players that had their roots in your country. Me playing for Ireland is fine. But I don't see how Italy inviting a bunch of Irish guys to play for Italy gives Italians a rooting interest.
  14. IMO, Lester was far worse. I think Betts always intended on leaving, but Lester said 'you're going to have to rip this jersey off my back'.
  15. I like what little I saw of Bennett.
  16. I think that the right approach. Too many people try to see how we will replace Bregman & Casas, without considering how how much we will pick up at 1st & 2nd.
  17. I'm not sure of the long-term timing, but if we got Romy back by July, I'd be happy.
  18. That summarizes it perfectly for me. With Casas & Romy on the IL, and KC completely unproven, we'll be lucky to have visibility by June. I see no reason to be in a hurry to make any decisions.
  19. I think that has to be taken in context. The weakest spot is relative to your PAs or IPs.
  20. I agree with that. If Yoshida is the last guy on the bench, over Eaton, the loss is marginal at worst. If you need a starting caliber player, Yoshida is much better than Eaton, imo.
  21. Let's re-visit this in June. Casas has to prove he is healthy and has to prove he can still hit. I still like him, but there is no chance he is on the roster on OD. KC starts in the minors. Again, I haven't given up on him, but has also shown nothing. If we released Eaton, he might pass through waivers. Every team has someone like that. I don't see how Yoshida blocks anyone.
  22. KC likely starts in the minors, Casas starts off on the IL, and Eaton and Ward are barely in the league. We won't lose much if these guys aren't on the team.
  23. That was an issue for me. I am nowhere near giving up on him, but I expected more from him after the demotion. Even in ST, he has a 6/0 K/W.
  24. I think we are in agreement. The internet doesn't always space things the way I like, so I don't put too much effort into spacing. If I deem it important, like a sequence of numbers, I will use Excel and copy it over. Now that we have resolved this important issue, now we can work on trading our Yoshida for someone else's RH Yoshida.
