  1. There is no sense arguing with people that don't believe in data.
  2. It's always better to try to measure something than to trust in the spirits. I can no longer even hit a softball, but if I was hitting in Fenway, I'd have at least a .900 OPS.
  3. I was just being snarky, which is what I do when the RS win. And when they lose.
  4. We got a little lucky there. They had Raffy at 1-2. He swung at a pitch that was eye-high (or worse), checked his swing on another eye-high FB, then fouled off a pitch maybe neck high. He couldn't lay off of them and couldn't hit them. Someone calls for a pitch in the zone in what was a horrible, horrible call. He still had to hit it, but the call should've been for shoulder/neck high FBs until he popped up. Maybe Duran still wins it for us, but Raffy should never have had the opportunity to put us ahead. So is this 2 in a row for the first time this year?
  5. He doesn't look fat-fat. A bit like Schwarber. He's got some muscle.
  6. But the point remains. The Red Sox are not looking to get rid of him. If they fall out of contention, then they will be open to moving 10-15 guys. But they aren't looking to get rid of him.
  7. It's a moot point anyway. At best, he was our #7 SP. Had we not made the trade, and kept him in the minors, the same people screaming that we traded him away, would be screaming that never should've traded for him. And that's almost 100% guarantee. Heck, it's only been a couple of weeks since the very same people were complaining that we traded Devers away for NOTHING.
  8. 7-1 with a 3.20 and you're you're not digging it?
  9. Wouldn't the better question be, if you can steal a star like Harrison, why not do so?
  10. But all his numbers are down. His career road OPS is .825 and this year it is .704. K/W is much worse. Even his numbers at Oracle are down, by almost the same amount that his road numbers are down (104). I don't see how someone can reasonably say that Devers has hit worse everywhere in the world, but if he got back to Fenway, he'd be great.
  11. There's also no guarantee that we won't get just as good an offer at the trade deadline. It's kind of an interesting psychological study here. There were a lot of people that wanted to go all-in during the off-season, because they thought the future was now and didn't want to wait. Two months later, and it is white flag time?
  12. Mayer progressed just about like he should have. He had 9 HRs in 170 ABs in AAA, with a 38/20 K/W, with a good glove. He had a .678 OPS in the pros. There was -0- reason not to make him part of the opening lineup.
  13. I cannot tell you how often fans say that the RS overrate their prospects.
  14. But they are still promoting and playing their prospects. There are some in here that think that is an uncommon practice. My point being that, even if it doesn't work out as well as a team would like, there is/was nothing wrong with promoting Mayer.
  15. Being a good player doesn't mean the RS want to get rid of him.
  16. But I think that, if they thought he was a real SS, they'd have given him the 3B job.
  17. He was and he should be a good hitter. Just not a great hitter. But to suggest that this is all related to SF is a step too far. I always focus on road stats because that's about as level a playing field as you can get. To suggest that Bregman, Bichette, Marte, Devers, etc., would be great, if only they played at Fenway, just ignores reality.
  18. It's actually worse than that. There are people in here that think the Red Sox are the ones making up the top-100 lists for BA, MLB, FG, and BP.
  19. This is just more of the same insanity as suggesting that the RS should've drafted Schlittler in the 1st round.
  20. They did exactly what they were supposed to do-promote a top prospect. Every team does this, as in 100% of them. How did Dominguez and Spencer Jones work out for the NYY? Jackson Holliday for the Orioles? Keaschell for the Twins. Crawford, Painter, Crews, House, Frelick, Turang, PCA.... Give me a team, and I can find at least 2-3 prospects that either never worked out, or that took 1-2 years before they worked out.
  21. ROTFLMAO! at some of these comments. My ideal is to join the biggest money fantasy league in the country, but I have to be able to draft my players AFTER THE SEASON IS OVER.
  22. I thought we should've traded Duran for some combination of Vientos, Baty or Tong. In retrospect, I was 100% correct. Why? Because all three *might've* great in Fenway Park. And, FWIW, I've advocated for bringing him back to Fenway. But not his salary.
  23. Over the 3 previous seasons, Devers averaged 1 2B per home 15.125 AB. This season he is averaging 1 per 13.25 AB. So he is averaging more 2B in SF than in Fenway. Want I should do HRs? He's doing better in SF for that as well.
