There use to be a guy in here that claimed all prospects were suspects, and that we should be trading our prospects for MLB players. Anyone remember his name?

I assumed that the opening bid would be Eyanson+. This '+' is more than I expected, but he wasn't coming much cheaper than what we gave up.

Hefty, but it makes a lot more sense than the previous rumor. If true, then I certainly hope he is an immediate contributor.

That's worth 2 years of Rutschman, imo. So even if he is out for another month, I'd still make the trade. Even if he was out for the year, I think we'd come out ahead. So long as it isn't chronic and something he'll have to deal with forever.

Probably not. But I think both offer more value to us as injury insurance than they would be as trade bait. I like Rutschman, but he's had injuries. -
Betterer, but at least some downside risk on Harper's arm.

I could do that. I wouldn't disrupt the team chemistry by adding a catcher, but Rutschman has great tools. He might be the best all-around catcher between him, Goodman, and Langeliers. Some injury concerns, but I wouldn't be surprised if emerged to be the AS catcher he was projected to be.

After the off-season, when he botched getting Contreras over Alonso, and Durbin over Bregman, FG says that Breslow is the all time leader in botched trades that were out perfectly.

I'm waiting to hear their new defensive alignment. Rumor has it that that Stott goes to 3B, Bohm goes to 1B, and Harper goes to RF. 4 possible defensive downgrades in one trade.

Ryan had a 4.89/5.01 in August & September last year. So I am really happy we didn't trade top-tier talent to get him.

I'm not sure I agree with the logic. His performance this year means he was likely a good target last year, even if he under-performed. He started off with three very good performances. No way of proving it, but I'd bet trade works out well the majority of the time.

We likely won't get it, nor should we, but having more certainty would help the trade outlook. Anthony in early September, and Crochet in late September, and I'd be inclined to ride with whom we have.

I like Holmes fine. My question is, 'who goes down if we acquire him?'. I like all 13 pitchers, a lot. Demoting some of the kids for 2 weeks at a time might work, so long as they understand we are saving them for October (hopefully). -

You can never tell about Duran, but I expect that there will be a market for him. We could probably go low-end right now and swap Duran for Adell, and Adell would be our #4 OF/platoon DH in 2027.

I agree. I'm still incredibly PO'd at him for demanding that he speak with the owner of the company because his boss got fired, even though Story was a big part of the reason that his boss was fired. But even putting that aside, he just didn't play well. His plate discipline was so bad that I'd fine a pitcher for throwing him any strikes.

I don't really see a compelling reason to choose Abrams over Mead at 2nd, if it requires trading good prospects and eating half of Yoshida's contract. It's basically choosing Abrams over Yoshida, paying an extra $9M or so, and losing Eyanson++. It's an upgrade, but we can get much better upgrades at that cost.
