Sure, but if our 2027 Plan A (Red will let us know what that is) is to add an SP, then the 2027 anticipated cost must be deducted from the 2026 cost, to see what the marginal cost is. Gray was a fine trade, but still cost us 3 mediocre+ prospects.

For me, the beauty of the trade was that neither Harrison nor Drohan had a defined role. Both were going to be in the BP or in AAA. I always liked Hamilton, but he is mostly just a good UIF. Except for when he had a good game in Boston and the pitiful RS writers wanted to know why guys like Hamilton could become stars for teams like Mil.

So no more annual Devers debates? And most of the bickering, imho, is about fans using really small samples sizes for opinions. I'd make a substantial wager that there have been calls to get rid of at least half the team. IRT trades, I love to hear different opinions. If I had one minor critique, we have a lot of posts about players that will almost certainly not be available. -
OTOH, we might also want someone that will replace Gray next year.

It remains our weakest batting order slot. The 9 slots relative to MLB: Split sOPS+ Batting 1st 75 Batting 2nd 80 Batting 3rd 93 Batting 4th 123 Batting 5th 105 Batting 6th 107 Batting 7th 101 Batting 8th 104 Batting 9th 97 I know we are 29th in OBP at the 1-hole. I don't like messing with our mojo right now, but I'd guess half the team is feeling antsy with Duran around, and Springer has spent almost his entire career leading off.

The 600 AB projections total to 10.7 bWAR. Seigler is the lowest at 2.65. It's the type of production that enables us to spend some big money on FAs and more expensive trade targets.

I wouldn't worry about 2nd or SS. Monasterio, Seigler, Story, IKF, Romy, Sogard-Not great, but there is some production there.

I like Adell. A straight trade for Duran could solve a couple of problems.

Tied with Durbin. These are the questions I'd like to hear in the post-game presser. A #9 hitter with a .544 should be automatic.

It made no difference, but Narvaez should've been sacrificing.

Springer is not worth Mayer. Duran might just have to go, in which case, I'm not sure we are getting much more than a fill-in. But Duran/Springer is a decent bet for TO.

Split sOPS+ as C 84 as 1B 134 as 2B 78 as 3B 104 as SS 89 as LF 77 as CF 109 as RF 105 as DH 81 That's how we compare to the MLB. Monasterio and Yoshida have been hitting over the past 28 days, so it feels like SS and DH are accounted for. Catcher is a position I hesitate to change. Mead's injury hurt our chance to upgrade 2B, but between Story, Romy, IKF and Seigler, I think we can resolve this internally. LF is where need to use our resources, imho.

He has only $2.6M left on his contract. Unless we are hitting one of the caps, I see no reason to waive him.

I wouldn't object to Robert either. Again, a little low-end, but if he's playing today, I'd gamble that he can play for the next two months. Either way, it should be a small investment.

Basically, yes. I like him well enough, but I'd have more faith in Adell or Springer. And it is less about JJ being Duran's platoon partner. That would be fine. But if Duran needs to be demoted, I don't trust JJ to be our starting LF.

I'm not sure how he did it, but four months into his RS career, it feels like our first true leader since Papi.

What did he botch? Contreras instead of Alonso or Durbin instead of Bregman?

Buy low on Bieber. The last outing is, imo, an outlier. The downside is that he eats innings, which we need. The upside is a legit playoff pitcher.

Lo Siente. He had told me that Alonso was Breslow's Plan A, so I assumed he knew things.

About right. Great talent, but 22 wins in 3.7 seasons. Of course, I am always looking thru a gambler's lens and wondering if he becomes a buy-low candidate. I would no doubt listen, but I'd need a lot more information before even seriously discussing. -
I thought about that, but wasn't sure what his status was being in the league 6 years. But bringing in a legit RH LF and demoting him is certainly worth considering.
