  1. I claimed we wouldn’t add another QUALITY IF (which we didn’t) But we did. We added the #10 3B from 2025. If you want to insist on someone with an .820 OPS, go ahead. But everyone else will recognize that a top-10 3B is a quality player. and you proposed a wager that claimed we would add SOMEBODY But I didn't. My bet was an offer of an infielder that either had a 2025 2.5 WAR, or someone predicted to have a 2026 2.5 WAR.
  2. 90 wins should be a playoff team. It's close, so no guarantee
  3. I'd go so far as to say he is more important to us than other teams. We have an injury-prone Story & Mayer, an unproven Mayer, and a second year Durbin. I'd be a little surprised of IKF doesn't get 250-300 ABs.
  4. The spirit of the debate was that he said we wouldn't add another infielder. When I offered a wager that we'd add a 2.5 WAR IF, he changed it to the near- impossible .820 infielder.
  5. Not under the new format, and not in either league.
  6. There are the OBP/HR rankings for our 4 recent WS teams. Small sample size and all, but the disparity is incredible. We finished 1st in scoring in three of those seasons. OBP HR 2004 1 5 2007 2 18 2013 1 6 2018 1 9
  7. I'd make a modest wager that Breslow knew that Romy had a good chance of not starting the season and asked for Monasterio. That's why the news about Romy came out so late.
  8. I barely even look at these guys. IMHO, you're either a guy I think can break into the rotation (15-20%) of you're a 5-6-7th inning guy, maybe.
  9. He was huge when he came out of HS. And this was back when Sweet Lou Carnesecca could land NYC HS stars.
  10. The top 3 HR teams were collectively under .500 in extras. The top-3 OBP teams were well over .500 in extras.
  11. So are you going to be the only one in here to not post a win total?
  12. Cease came to mind immediately. Given the amount that SPs subsequently signed for, $30M * 7 seems like an awful lot.
  13. The QO is devastating to the lower ranked players. When you sign Tucker, the QO is barely a rounding mistake. When you sign someone like Bregman, who stayed only one year, the draft picks become painful.
  14. Let's hear what your win total is and we can discuss it. I am eagerly looking forward to your non-response.
  15. I mentioned last year that we had a good team, but a wild amount of variance. I feel a lot better this year. My wildcards: Catcher-We should be okay, but Narvaez is a sophomore, ended the year hurt, and Wong was bad. Chapman-Almost impossible for him to be as good, and is 38. Whitlock is one of my favorite players, but I am not sure he is a closer. Mayer just a little. He should be good, and even if he is just mediocre, we have IKF. But he can't bomb completely either. I like IKF a lot in his UIF role, but less so as a FT starter.
  16. Similar here, but I just wanted a quality 1B and 2B. BR ranked us as #21 and #19, respectively. Contreras and Durbin should put put us in the top-15 in each. On the pitching side, I wanted a #2, and argued for a #4 in addition. Suarez and Gray cover that easily. I also argued that we needed to trade Duran to make this happen. By being to make the additions, without giving up Duran, means we have no loss from trading Devers.
  17. Thank you for the link. That article, along with the TS article, have made for great reading this morning.
  18. For the folks from NY, that's a whole different Felipe Lopez. Our Felipe was arguably the #1 HS player in the country when he came out.
  19. 2011 was the last time Fred was right about something. He said that Buchholz injury was such that he could have returned in September, had they treated it right. But I believe the RS crack medical staff said 'we don't MRI boo-boos'.
  20. 92. And, if we win the division, we go to the WS.
  21. I'm not sure how out-bidding everyone else for Suarez rates an A-, but overall, we've had a good off-season.
  22. I like the first, though I don't think it makes too much difference. But I do like Durbin behind Story since Story likes to run, and Durbin usually makes contact.
  23. I try to get to the gym every day, but cannot imagine catching for 15 minutes, let alone 90.
  24. There is seldom any reason to rest a player at DH. Most of your best fielders don't hit enough to warrant them DH'ing. As you mention, if you think a player needs day off, just line it up so he avoids a pitcher that he has problems with.
  25. I almost posted, after IKF, that Fred should've wagered. I'd have conceded that IKF is not a 2.5 player without arbitration. Fortunately, they added Durbin, and my 20 year undefeated streak against Fred remains intact.
