    I remember the NYY doing that with Joba in 2009-pitching him 3 IPs per start. Innings limits are tricky stuff.

    I think T is a good comp. I looked at his Statcast page and it is saturated with deep red, except, of course, the deep blue BB%. I think it's a pretty good package; just kind of a shock to the system.

    Age catches up, even if the player is a star. I'm not writing him or the other guys off, but: Betts due $203M thru age 39. Bogaerts due $170M thru age 40 Devers due $225M thru age 36 That's roughly $90M per, thru a pretty old age.

    Funny, there was a guy in another thread that didn't seem pleased that we traded suspects for a very good established player. I don't remember his name.

    Two separate trades. Ryan would've been a blockbuster. May was small potatoes trying to add a marginal #5 for 10 GS. It should've worked better, but that's the nature of these marginal trades.

    I also wouldn't sleep on Gutierrez. He seems like a poor man's Abreu. 9 HRs in 299 ABs, in A+, good K/W, and some speed. And I always get the impression that Mexican prospects are on the low-end of the scouting focus compared to the DR, Venezuela, etc.

    It's a shocking fall from grace. I was perfectly fine with getting rid of him. But I thought someone else would've topped this offer.

    White seems okay to me. I'm just not sure what this does to the 26-man roster.

    2) If the season is canceled, which I doubt, I'd be shocked if owners gave any service time to the players. 3) There is no monetary reason not to spend on Rutschman. We'll have $154M in cap space. That doesn't mean we'll like AR well enough to extend him, but money is certainly not an issue.

    Amazing. We were 15.5 games back of the NYY on 6/24. That was 40 days ago.

    There were moves I'd like to have made, such as Spring, Gausman, maybe Bieber, Adell, etc. But the RS have all the insider information about Anthony and Crochet. If they feel both will be available in September, then none of the guys I liked meant anything, and maybe they preferred to ride with what got us here, other than a big move at catcher.

    Someone said we paid more for Rutschman than the Dodgers paid for Skubal. I was explaining that the return that Detroit received was higher than the RS package. What were you talking about?

    NP, I don't get too deep into the minutiae. Given that Skubal's talent probably offsets Rutschman's extra year, the difference in talent is immaterial. I think we needed a catcher more than two month's of an ace.

    These are not 'calculations speculations'. From MLB: Tigers got Hope (55), River (55), and Smith (45) BA got Eyanson (55), Witherspoon (50) and Azocar (45) Those are the existing FV values. Eyanson could be a HOF or a washout, but today's FV values are today's FV values.

    The walk rates are obscene, but his GB% is outstanding. Pure guess is that Breslow sees something fixable.

    Assuming that Rutschman returns quickly, I am also on board with this trade.

    I appreciate seeing someone who maintains their opinion. I might disagree with you, but at least you have an opinion that is not based on what the RS do.

    No. The FV rankings of the LA prospects were higher. And Rutschman should have a good bit higher WAR in his 1.3 years than Skubal will have in his 0.3 years. Two playoff runs v one playoff run. Plus a draft pick if we do not re-sign him.

    I thought so as well, but Red was right, until he changed his mind, again. Eyanson was literally just drafted. He was drafted #87, threw 68.1 innings, and now RS fans have him on a pedestal. I think he has some talent, but his AA stats have a 4.3 BB9. I thought Witherspoon was a nice pick, but again, a 4.1 BB9 in A+. The shelf life on prospect rankings are like months between being loved and being ignored.

    Of course you should have your opinion. I just wanted to find his name to congratulate him. After hundreds of posts castigating our prospects, calling them suspects, and giving clever little nicknames, I figured he'd be delighted that we traded some of them. Assuming, of course, that he didn't suddenly change his mind for no reason.

    They also traded a pitcher named Slocomb if you got 'em, and got Tek and Lowe. I'm not sure what the point is other than some trades work and some don't.
