  1. I think IKF gets all the RH IF ABs, even assuming they occasionally platoon Mayer. I think Romy becomes a platoon DH/emergency IF.
  2. IMHO, it starts with: Chapman Whitlock Weissert (no particular order) Slaten Kelly, probably Sandoval (at some point) Crawford ("") Moran or a prospect I could understand acquiring another RP, but I wouldn't go out of my way.
  3. They wouldn't get either guy straight-up, let alone another prospect. They might've overplayed their hand.
  4. I think our team is complete now. If Paredes came cheap, he'd be worth looking at. But I see no way of us constructing a Duran or Abreu for Paredes+ trade.
  5. The other off-speed pitches work well off of his FB. No one is going to be like Gooden.
  6. The dude is a rookie, he's not allowed to make that decision.
  7. He has to develop, but there was kind of a low-level Gooden vibe, imvho. The FB comes in strong, with the extension. It forces the batter to speed up his decision-making a fraction. That makes the off-speed stuff very difficult to hit.
  8. They didn't really try to make him into a super-utility. He only had 8 outfield starts, as opposed to 54 starts at 2nd. I think they thought his bat was ready, that they needed a 2B, and that most of his time in the minors was spent at 2nd. They were probably just shocked at how poorly he transitioned to the pros.
  9. I'm still okay with him, but it is worth noting he has a 4/0 K/W in 14 ST ABs. I think it would not be in our best interest to bring the kid up until we were close to certain he was not going back down again.
  10. He might not be a good player, but he might still be a great hitter.
  11. Well, since that is just what I posted, I agree with me.
  12. With the usual small sample disclaimer, at a level of 800 PAs from 2022-2024, Casas ranked #36 in wRC+, tied with Schwarber & Ketel Marte, and slightly higher than Bregman & Paredes.
  13. Over his first three seasons, Casas has a 126 OPS+. Over his past three seasons, Alonso has a 129 OPS+. Alonso is obviously a more 'sure-thing', but those numbers are very close.
  14. It was still 644 ABs. That's a pretty good sample size to suggest he could play.
  15. No chance I'd cut him. All it takes is one injury to any of our 4 outfielders to make Masa a decent DH. Eaton has 2 career HRs and a .610 OPS.
  16. After his first season with us, his career stats (644 ABS, ~ one season) included 20 HRs, so he had some power, 112/53 K/W, so he made contact, 8/2 SB/CS, 20 DRS, so he could field. 2nd round pick. Top-35 prospect ranking. He was a real player. You're right on the work ethic, and that did him in. But there was no reason to think he didn't have the skills.
  17. It's not. It's only February 30th.
  18. I thought it was a fine deal. Verdugo was a real player. He looked like a great extension candidate. After his first year with us, he had a career 5.2 bWAR in 644 ABs. I'm shocked that he failed.
  19. There is a contingent of RS fans that criticize every move. Darwinzon, and the rioting in the streets over letting Thaddeus Ward go.
  20. Writers looking for clicks. An article titled "Song unlikely to stick with Phils". Every organization has guys like this, and usually better. If you hide the name and the Navy story, it sounds like "DD picks up 26 year old former 4th rounder from A-, who hasn't pitched in 4 years, and is on the IL".
  21. I understand trading kids away, but long-term success is built on development. And if I were to trade away highly-ranked prospects, I'd prefer it to be for a black swan SP like Crochet.
  22. Most teams had already passed on him. If he has any trade value, the Nats, Rox, etc., would've claimed him and traded him.
  23. He had to keep Song on the roster for the entire season. Song had 17 IPs in A-, hadn't pitched in 3 years, and was on the IL. He wasn't going to take a slot in the Phillies BP.
