  1. A bit of a "B" lineup , but good enough to win. Campbell and Narvaez available off the bench is OK. But AC usually sticks with the day off completely when he rests guys. Maybe he would make an exception for Campbell PH'ing
  2. Sox feasting at Fenway in a SSS. That is something that marked the past few seasons---losing record at home. This is a superior lineup over '23 & '24. Leading the league in fielding errors is surprising , especially Story and Bregman , but curable . The starting p[itching is much better with Crochet and Buehler rounding into form. One question but the answer will have to wait: Can these guys win in late August and September ?
  3. Weissert is another one of the hacks who cannot reliably throw strikes . Gets out of the 6th but not by being good. A MLB reliever who cannot throw strikes is simply not sustainable. Yes, batters like to hit strikes but the MLB BA is around .250 so 3 of 4 chances you will get an out from throwing strikes.
  4. Back to Bullpen Roulette , featuring Alex Cora as the man who cannot guess right on which dude to bring in with a 3 run lead. The middle BP guys are hacks . Bello was good enough tonight but starters on this team better get a full 7.
  5. Bregman up to 19 RBI's, with 3 tonight---But rest of Sox are 2 for 11 w/RISP through 5. Not that great.
  6. Bregman paying early dividends , hitting well with MoB. Piling RBI's. Can the BP hold onto this one?
  7. Not super efficient but then that is more typical of Bello . However he got a full 5 , allowing only the 1 run on a HR., so job done for Brayan today.
  8. Those that do it claim it is a timing technique and starter of the swing with more energy. I think it moves the head/eye line and unbalances the timing between a FB at 95+ and a breaking ball or change at below 90. To each their own. I wonder if there is a correlation factor of toe tappers and BA's or OPS
  9. OK, , he made a a great reach at 1B to get the DP although Story's rotational throw was well off line. Saved his own bacon that time.
  10. I think my question is answered. Bello cannot pitch into adversity. About to blow this game up unless he can get a DP quickly.
  11. Did not take long for Bello to give up the HR on a 1-2 count. I think there will need to be patience with Brayan to get up to MLB speed . Maybe 3 starts Looking for how he reacts to errors behind him or a couple hits , walks or HBP, or even umpire bad calls against him. Can he settle it down and stay effective ?
  12. The scoreless inning strings are notable ( 7 & 6) in the last 2 WS games. Seattle will bring a better team to Fenway , so we will see what the homeboys can do.
  13. Nice close by Slaten. That was a shutdown inning. Throw strikes with velocity/movement and a pitcher will succeed. 3 of 4 is fine, but hope we don't miss the eventual playoffs by 1 game.
  14. Telling you now, 4-2 isn't the final score in this one.
  15. This is what makes baseball interesting: Red Sox send up 5 batters in the 7th, 3 LH'ers and 2 RH'ers vs White Sox lefty Gilbert. All 3 Lh'ers K, 2 RH'ers get hits, Sox strand 2. Then we get to watch Bobby Dalbec vs Chapman, our LH ace, and se BD continue his major league string of K's. But the White Sox LH hitter, Benintendi homers off LH Chapman . SMH
  16. So Buehler gets to go the extra inning for a full 7 of very good pitching. Maybe AC should have done that yesterday, though Houck isn't the pitcher Buehler is now.
  17. So will Cora pull Buehler with 3 to go, as he did with Crochet and Houck ? Having a 4 run total , 3 run lead, vs the White Sox is a scary proposition this season. Why can't Boston add a couple right here ?
  18. You did an admirable job, Jad, getting the team over .500. They were smoking 420's after the 2nd inning and also in the BP too, thinking this one was a lock.
  19. You begin to see trends as to how teams wind up as .500 teams. BP issues, inconsistent hitting , fielding errors, baserunning mistakes , giveaway losses at home . Not just about today, but just seeing trends.
  20. Sox in a hurry to get back in the Clubhouse for the Easter buffet. Fitting that Cam Booser shuts them down in the 9th .
  21. May as well get all the crap out of your BP and let this game go. Win tomorrow and brag about how you took 3 of 4. Why give Bregman the error when Space Cadet should have picked that bounce and stopped the inning.
  22. Sabol, AAA catcher making $ 3,700 per game in Boston, swings at ball 4 when the Sox desperately need another base runner. Just another contribution, Blake, to your IRA
  23. You can certainly debate Venables decision to bunt with the bases loaded and no outs, as Merloni is pounding, but it looks like to me he got a run home, no DP, no K, and wound up with men on 2nd/3rd and 1 out, both of whom scored vs a drawn in infield . It was a clean hit in any case. It certainly worked out best for WS, and I'm not sold it was a bad tactic in any case. Especially for a weak hitting team. Red Sox take note.
