  1. Most all the guesses (opinions) that Cora would leave stem from the thought that JH wasn't going to spend on a manager in the $7-$8 million range ( now he has) and AC was going to test the FA market for more money, and maybe a powerhouse team, see LADodgers , when Roberts is fired for failing to win the WS. The opinions on AC leaving were reasonably fact based.
  2. Well Splendid, you did get to see Mr. Anderson who threw about 40 pitches and held Rockies to 6 runs ( only 5 earned) in that inning. A sloppy throw on a DP ball by the joker Gonzalez started the mess.
  3. Caleb's number is 800 000-0000 , which is also his ERA
  4. How is Bailey Horn in the Major Leagues, only in Boston. You literally cannot be that bad My ,my, that run differential that proves all assertions about a team is being reduced rapidly.
  5. That's a supportable assessment, but it also means you need to sell anyone who is not part of 2025: Jansen, O'Neill (?), Pivetta, Refsnyder ( probably) and get some value back now.
  6. Cora waits for Nick to get 2 on base becoming a 3 run HR before going to the pen. What was that point AC ? You needed to pull him at 2 on base Hold on the QO until he gets out of Colorado
  7. 8-1 in the 3rd. Let Pivetta throw about 150 pitches today. That should get him into the 5th inning
  8. Cora, who is supposedly negotiating a 3 year extension at @21.75 million ( ESPN), has the challenge of trying to hold this game close at 5-1 since the late inning Sox can sometimes hit their way out of trouble. BUT, he has little to go to in the pen who might put together 6 scoreless. With a day off before the Yankees series, maybe worth a gamble if Pivetta gets a baserunner or 2 in the 3rd. Or just concede that Quantrill is hot right now and will shut them down, let Pivetta take a bruising
  9. Based on today's action, Breslow should trade them all and O'Neill too just because he is not playing in a HR park.
  10. Pivetta is not enough of a punching bag today, but his outfield is determined to further sink him.
  11. If someone told you on March 31 that the starting infield for Boston today would be Dom Smith, Jamie Westbrook, David Hamilton and Romy Gonzalez, would you have assumed it was actually the WooSox or would you know that Story, Grissom, Casas were long term injured ?
  12. Pivetta made every mistake he could in the first: Leadoff HR allowed; 38 pitches( bullpen burner) , allows 2 out 2 strike , 2 run double. He is the example of inconsistency
  13. If someone had told you with certainty that BoSox would be 2 for 10 w/RISP and 11 LOB's , and O'Neill left 4 runners on base with 2 outs, what would you think the outcome was, 0-5 road trip ? If the same psychic told you that Criswell would throw a 7 inning shutout, would you bet on the Sox ? See , you just never know
  14. Not quite a perfect prediction or even wish, but Criswell got it done as did Bernardino and magically Weissert . All is forgiven fellows. Win the series tomnorrow
  15. Literally not one AAA pitcher ready to be called up. Mata and Campbell injured , all kinds of issues. At least 3 marginal guys, Weissart, Horn, Anderson on the big squad. Max would probably put Bernadino as a marginal guy now too.
  16. Agree with you and MVP's assessment on casas which I have been thinking for awhile. There needs to be a real point to bringing him back, not just to prove he's back. I think Triston will need a bunch of time to assure himself that he won't reinjure it and it could mess up his natural swing. Would not be the worst thing to give him the off season to fully heal. Dom Smith and/or a RH 1Bman aren't the future or even 2025, but Smith is playable for the present.
  17. It would be shocking, but actually very welcome for Criswell to throw a 9 inning, 80 pitch shutout, while the offense scores about a dozen. Realistically, if Criswell could throw 6 innings of 2 run ball, and the offense score 5 or more, I'd be happy. Those pesky 7-8-9 innings, I'm thinking Dom Smith.
  18. I think the last 4 games of both starters ( 5.+ ERA ) and relievers ( 7.+ ERA) are enough to give some pause, especially the utter lack of any competent depth in the BP. The 4 losses will not wreck the season but the results from the mound are not trending well as many of the pitchers are reaching career highs with 60 odd games to go. In LA, the hitters got leads multiple times. Same last night in Denver . Only to see the potential W trashed. Breslow should look beyond rentals ( Paxton ?) and continue building a team that can win from here on out but also next year.
  19. Rengifo was having great season when his wrist became inflamed in early July and he went on the 10 day list. Still there . Wrist injuries or even inflammation indicates a situation where swing the bat could be problematic, or it become chronic for the rest of the season. It would be a dice roll if Luis could be a big help to the Sox or not.
  20. Not one reliever has thrown a clean inning in 4 games. Anyone who takes the time to verify that , has too much time on their hands
  21. Our good fortune knows no bounds. Mark it down, the great turnaround starts tomorrow
  22. Basic answer is NFW
  23. Can anyone in that BP get 3 consecutive outs ??
  24. Key hit by Wilyer, good for him and the team
  25. Rafaela with a game saver, hopefully, on defense. now get some runs. McGuire's AB was all messed up
