  1. The bullpen has gone from being a concern to being a total mess in the games since the A-S break, ok I'll give the 6-0 massacre of the Rockies. Jansen cannot help you in these games Breslow either finds 2 relievers for whatever price, or you will see a slide that mimics the giant water mountain at Schlitterbahn
  2. I guess it is better to get beat by Judge than by Volpe. The bullpen roulette goes on and when it is back to back HR's you begin to find a trend that blots out all the ******** that it is only 4 losses ( before this one) ?
  3. Thayt's one guy I rarely think about because I'm limited in thinking in Spanish
  4. Bernardino, who was so good for a while, cannot throw a strike anymore or a pitch close enough to entice a swing/miss.
  5. Wong may homer here.....or not That 50-50 turned out to be the NOT, not even close
  6. Bello has not had many problems with run support this season , which is why he has 10 wins, but he won't be getting this one.
  7. 80 pitches , weak effort with a marginal BP
  8. Bello done after 5. That may or may not have been a good move by Cora. Booser immediately sets NYY up with 0 outs, 2nd/3rd. This game will take 8 runs to win
  9. The 3rd inning with men on 2nd/3rd where the 2 out hitter did not put the ball into fair territory. Foul outs and K looking. Smith was not awake yet to see the 2 cookie pitches from Kahnle
  10. Tied 3-3 but Sox still have 15 outs to get 8 runs. NYY has only 12 in regulation. Clearly, Red Sox have got this won.
  11. The Bello blow up starts with a play by Rafaela that he didn't need to rush. Nice spinorama, Cedanee
  12. Refsnyder makes it happen. Thought I would see Duran fly by Fox and try to score from first but Soto can throw. Wong is the second foul popper with runners on 2nd/3rd. Yoshi was the other.
  13. Looks like Red Sox pitching strategy is evolving a bit with Bello consistently pitching mid to high 90's fastballs, and he is being effective with it through 4. It seems to make sense---if you have command and control of it the FB will work well, setting up the change of speed or breaking balls. That sounds like pitching, not throwing. A positive change to see Bello on this track.
  14. Couldn't get Gonzalez in from 3rd with Westbrook and Duran. Bello needs a simple 3rdto get past the top of lineup. Do not let Verdugo get anywhere except back to the dugout
  15. A foul pop to 3B is the flip side of the bouncer to the right side. Needed a wall ball there by the Yosh-man
  16. Then AC should not have started Bello, who will struggle, not necessarily get beat, but will tend to go 4 to 5 innings, pressing the BP. Jansen doesn't really help unless the Sox have the lead in the 8th/9th.
  17. Thanks for the insights from Seattle perspective. I know nothing of the atmosphere in the Mariner's FO or ownership . Dipoto got sent away from LAA after a significant disagreement with Mike Scoscia over the introduction and use of analytics . LAA did win the AL West in the 2014 season, followed by getting booted out in mid 2015. He was the GM who signed Josh Hamilton to a 5 year, $125 million contract.
  18. Well why not--- Jamie Westbrook has the same chance of becoming a HoF'er as does Hamilton, Valdez, Gonzalez , or even the yet to be tested Grissom. Those guys would all have an equal shot, which is to say none at the HoF. That is not to say that they cannot be pieces of a well oiled machine that still has a chance at the MLB expanded playoff tourney to be held this October. Good luck to them all and the Red Sox
  19. Moon, it was an ironic reply to Notin's sarcasm. I dislike Grissom intensely and couldn't care if he ever comes back. Yes, the crew of Valdez, Hamilton, Gonzalez, and even Westbrook have shown up in many situations contributing to wins . They each have their shortcomings and are not likely future stars but they played above their AAA paygrade for large parts of the season to date. Grissom is a loser which will play itself out as he is slowly put back on the field to justify the trade of Sale.
  20. Granted the back end needs a new arm, but Pivetta can cover those situations where Cora needs to stop the bleeding in the 3rd-4th-5th-6th , you know, like when Pivetta pitched in Colorado this week.
  21. Damn good idea, or that former Brave now tearing up AAA for the Red Sox. Why don't they bring him up now, so we can see his ability ? Baby G will be competing with Westbrook, Hamilton, and Romy Gonzalez for playing time, the result of which will be Jamie W. back to WooSox
  22. One use of either Rich Hill or Paxton would be to throw extended BP to our hitters trying to cure the "Can't hit LH slop throwers" syndrome. They wouldn't even have to put Hill on the roster. Give him a million and he throw to our guys all day.
  23. So that moves Criswell up to a #4, and Pivetta to the BP ? In seriousness, Paxton is a better fill at #4 or #5 than what the Sox have had for the past 3 months. He will get hit by any team , not named Boston Red Sox, but if healthy will eat up about 60-65 more innings. Pivetta to the pen ?? It has been suggested by others and he did it before
  24. We should ask Harmony his opinion on Dipoto, but I'll wager he gets fired after the season if they do not make the playoffs . Hence, his motivation, unlike Breslow's, is short term not the future.
  25. Jerry Dipoto has been there enough years that he is the one on the hot seat for results. He can only worry about 2024 . He needs a hitter and now to spark his lineup. . Dipoto would definitely trade 1 pitcher a strong bat and a second capable bat. Try offering O'Neill and Gonzalez for starter and a reliever. See what Jerry says
