  1. Correct. Gonzo and Devers provided no help. And the FO has known that Martin is likely a basket case for the duration, and Slaten has been out at least 2 full weeks. None of this is actually Weissert's fault. As you say he would normally be a #5/6 in a pen. Only thing I'll say is he palays defense with his butt, but gets the out which Gonzo and Raffy didn't do
  2. Who knew that Weissert was the answer to getting Verdugo out. Way to go
  3. Remind me again, Weissert is the answer to what need ?
  4. Westbrook could have done that and we would still have Smith available later
  5. I think the loss of Giolito should have rung the bell loudly that they were not fully staffed.. That was in late March.
  6. Too bad Refsnyder was not in LF last night. Too bad no one can shut down Verdugo who , like Machado, will be reviled in Boston. Too bad Houck was not ready for first inning. Too bad Refs and Wong's HRs were solo. Too bad that the Sox will have to come from behind late to win this, but they will.
  7. Another stat which seems to have little bearing on the actual outcome , except that it may be a low scoring game.
  8. Add his not infrequent K with man on 3rd and less than 2 outs , and you have nailed Mr. O'Neill pretty well.
  9. Still somewhat surprised he got paid so early in his career. Bello at least had some MLB experience and could become a valuable pitcher. Rafaela has huge potential, but needs experience and a sense of where the ball is going after leaving the pitcher's hand. The worry would be that he thinks he is Devers Jr.
  10. Very hard to watch O'Neill, Gonzalez and the Chaser with Devers on 3rd, no outs and Rodon on the ropes. But 2 solo HR's should be considered a win, I guess
  11. Tyler O'Neill making a serious case for being a DH with his fielding expertise And don't tell me about his GG's in prior seasons. They are playing the 2024 season now
  12. Hang on D, they usually show up in late innings, take the lead and then Cora is forced to play Bullpen Roulette
  13. Well you do have choices. It could be a Valdez call up and Dom Smith
  14. Red Sox pitchers showing that tendency of not being quite ready for the first inning. Always wondered about their pregame routine and bullpen session. Are they limiting the throwing before games to try and save arms ? If so, only a guess, it is not working. Always playing from behind until we get to the BP stage, then play from ahead ( for a short while)
  15. You would think they would find a way to pitch to Verdugo. He is hitting well after a long slump
  16. Still pretty much dumpster diving . Paxton is no guarantee other than he does show up to pitch, which took a long time to get around to in his first stint in Boston
  17. I would expect Anderson to clear waivers, but some team needing a #2 catcher could do worse than McGuire. Breslow couldn't get a heads up deal on him though, so DFA became a must
  18. For a former Gold Glover, Tyler is more concerned with protecting his Conan body than making a play at the wall. The HR's are no help when the team loses the game.
  19. You and your damnable negativity. Always jumping on the guy who messed up a little. You owe Crawford an apology
  20. Unlike yourself, I am not an athletic supporter. You keep posting responses that have nothing to do with the comment made which tend to be factual.
  21. Probably shouldn't try to trade O'Neill based on new information that he can bench press 450, and also hit multi-HR games. The BP again has a lead to protect and only 6 outs to get. Can they stop choking on the chicken bones ?
  22. This game is on 3 things: Crawford was ineffective to bad, 4.2 innings- 3 HR's , turned it into a bullpen game; Abreu's bad luck to not hold onto 2 very tough catches; Rafaela's nap at 3B.
  23. Winckowski is right on the edge, again, of puking this one up unless he gets a DP ball.
  24. O'Neill in LF is certainly no Swihart, you big pussy
  25. 1 run lead via O'Neill's hot streak of HRs with 12 outs to go ? Don't hold my beer quite yet. It would be really great if the BP could make this stand.
