Basically everyone but Bello is available.  Gutsy move keeping Chapman on the bench last night.  Had Moran blown the lead, this site would be awash with threads demanding Tracy's firing.

7 games cleared in the loss column to the Guardians and the Orioles for the final playoff spot. Go Sox.

Our five starting pitchers have kept us in the ball games forever it seems.

Moran could not find home plate if he hired a licensed surveyor on his first few batters.

The WS wild singers bailed him out by chasing ridiculous pitches. Or maybe Moran was just teasing us and prevailed  because of his throws shape and speed.. Nice job by Wong to keep the ball in play

It is nice now to look at the game lineup , pitching matches, BP readiness and expect to win, not worrying about who will blow it.

Now it is more like who will get the key hit or big play in the field

Moran has been a gem. Another off-the-radar Brez trade (for Gasper- LOL, as we got Gasper back for nothing.)

When we made the trade, I mentioned that he has an excellent 2022 season with 12K/9 and a 1.78 FIP. He kinda sucked in 2023, missed 2024 and spent 2025 trying to find a groove.

While his 3.78 FIP with the Sox is not great, the 1.100 WHIP is nice. He's brought his BB/9 down from 5.1 to 4.1 but needs to keep that going.

Yeah I'm not understanding the hate, Moran's numbers this season are pretty good.  And Weisert has had a number of strong outings recently.  With the new addition I like our pen a lot.

Many thought Moran was a DFA candidate over the off-season…

Do we have anyone at all in the pen who sucks?

This might shock some...

PAs Against in Late & Close situations ...

132 Chapman and 109 Whitlock (understandable)

83 Slaten (expected)

42 Weissert, 40 T Guerrero, 31 Moran (had to earn it)

OPS Against Late & Close:

.411 Moran

.454 Whitlock

.555 Chapman

.727 Weissert

.795 Slaten

.825 Guerrero

Not liking this, for a few reasons.

1. Bad dad jokes are my providence out here.

2. It’s dated.  Do kids today even get those references? GPS has ruined strike zone jokes!  Might as well use punchlines about cave paintings and telegraph machines.

I propose some new, more current ones.  For the kids. Gotta keep it fresh for the kids.

”Moran couldn’t find the strike zone if it swiped his pic right on Tinder.”

“Moran couldn’t find the strike zone if it was the first match Google.”  (Still might be outdated.)

”Moran couldn’t find the strike zone if he just watched something similar on Netflix .”

“Moran couldn’t find the strike zone if Siri announced it as his destination.”

Thoughts? Except for those negative ones..

Not really.

We just dumped our PAs Against season leader in Watson (240 and a .752 OPSA.) Check out the rest. Only Slaten is over .691 and only Slaten and Weissert are over .588!!!!

.692 Weissert in 185 PAs Against

.502 Moran (167)

.524 Whitlock (160)

.588 Chapman (158)

.464 Bello (157 in relief)

,723 Slaten (123)

.575 Guerrero (114)

.000 Miller (1)

KAH-POW-ZAH!!!!

I guess that’s why this is the best bullpen in the game. Not a single lemon.

Moran wouldn't have blown the lead because Chapman  would have been in after the third batter if at least two were on.

The minor league depth might be a bit shaky: Gamboa, Rivera, Samaniego & La Sorsa (IL,) but the 60 Day IL reserves could be special:

Crochet, Houck, Crawford, Oviedo & Kelly

Note: Kelly was at .614 in 71 PAs Against before getting injured.

Going 30-5 has happened 26 times since the WS era beginning in 1903.

Going 31-5 has happened once since the WS era beginning in 1903.

At least according to some talking head on YouTube.

Ranger nibbling and White Sox hitters are showing good plate discipline. Then Ranger grooves one to ex-Red Sox Meidroth. Dang it.

Ranger needs to miss closer to the plate to get them to chase. He's not doing that and they are laying off the balls.
