so 1 less guy in the BP, and if you don’t get a lot of long starts it’s a good way to BO the BP faster.

Tolle is at his career high for innings, Bennet is over it, Sandoval is coming off of TJS, Gray is pushing 37.

What do you think happens to all these guys in Sept/Oct if they are beat up even more over the next 2 months?

If the goal is to go deep in Oct, you have to start thinking about these things now.

The deal is sitting there, the real one at least, and it’s ripe for the taking. Lindor

But it requires JH to do something he hasn’t done in years…. Close the spending gap to the big dogs. And take a player in his 30’s for probably a year or 2 longer than you really want him.

Lindor costs you Mayer, Duran, and a top 7-8 prospect. You want to compete with Yankees without crushing your farm? There is the move RIGHT THERE. Maybe throw 1 more top 10 prospect add weaver and Peralta.

Red Sox get: Lindor, Weaver, Peralta (maybe 20m)

Mets get: Duran, Mayer, Azocar, Delzine

This trade provides the Mets with surplus value of $68.50 million and the Sox with $8.50  Breslow should be chased out of town if he ever makes a deal like this.

The deal evens out when the Mets add in $80 million.  That turns Lindors contract into about $18.5 million per year. Still, I see Lindor moving to 2B sooner rather than later and we just traded for a guy who will play 2nd.

Mead may play 2b for a little while. I'm not sold he's the answer long term. More likely he ends up being a LF/DH guy.

Linear thinking….. can’t think so linear. First off positionally….

1. Mead a 2nd baseman? Can’t he be below avg in LF? Wouldn’t he be a best at DH?

2. Surplus? What the hell is surplus? I just saw Mead surplus jump $9 overnight. BTV is ok but it’s not real. It shows Anthony as a surplus 11….. You willing to trade him for +40 surplus?? No way. It’s shows O’Neill Cruz as a +22 surplus you think you can get him for anything less than + 70 surplus.

Logically I think Breslow has a better chance of keeping his job, making a deal like this, and keeping most of his prospect powder dry. Than going all in on CJ Abrams or Zach Neto for 3 years

Whatever models the worst MLB teams has, they are way better than BTV.

I get all that, but as I said it’s a good way to burn out the BP faster with 1 less pitcher in it. How many teams go with a 6 man rotation, or have one right now? I don’t care about how many innings a guy pitches, because they break down anyway at some point. They don’t make em like they used to. Also to pitch deep into Oct you have to get there first.

As they said the other night the Mets aren’t going into any rebuilding mode anyway, and I think there is a slimmer chance than none of this happening.

I’ve been public about my views on BTV. I think it does a good job on prospects. It struggles with bigger name players without a deviation for scarcity/ team roles.

I'm very much OFF the Lindo boat.  But if the Mets were to open up shop, their preference is to kick in a lot of money and get a better return.

Like I said from what was reported the other night the Mets aren’t going into not looking to unload, or rebuild.

It's been done, not terribly common but more so than you'd think.

I can't think of a team that has ever employed a 6 man rotation year round but there are a LOT of examples of teams who have done it for a stretch of 1-2 months including the Angels, Astros, Mariners, Nationals, and the Phillies.

It's not ideal, but it's probably easier to find bullpen arms ride the shuttle and ideally when you have an extra day of rest you can go an inning longer, partially negating the need for the bullpen.

I'm certainly not claiming that is the only way to go, but something will give if innings are not managed with our starters.  I'm open to suggestions to sway my opinion.

I've made it a habbit of plugging real trades into BTV, it's a lot closer than you'd think the vast majority of the time and that trade was a major major major overpay for the Sox.

I don't think the Mets go for that though, unless they were particularly high on Duran and Mayer.

I’m not saying it doesn’t sound good for the starters, and I haven’t heard the Red Sox say what the innings plan is for the starters.

He's been pretty terrible lately. I think he may need just more time in AAA just to get right.

He's had 64 PAs, this year. I know you count that as 640, but I don't.

I'll go as small as some here do:

1.000 last 3 games.

.699 after his first 3 games this season.

His .684 July OPS is almost a 100 better than Duran and 30 more than Siegler.

Most of the trade suggestions on here are to pawn off Red Sox players you don’t want like Duran, and Mayer. If you were a Met fan would you be high on them? That’s how I look at all these suggested trades if it sounds viable for Both teams.

The BTV values have a pretty good purpose but a player's value on the team is also listed there (before they deduct the salaries.) It shows a different picture on trades.

I think BTV is using surplus and how close in value they were when deciding when to accept or not.

Outliers exist, but it's really impressive how close it is on almost all real trades.

Ok....I mean I didn't really believe it either, but most trades match up very well or close to it on BTV.  The proof is in the pudding.

And remember this, a lot of you might be against all this analytic crap but we know for a fact that most front offices ARE NOT, so right or wrong we have an ideal of how they're evaluating players.  So......it's not so much about whether or not it is a lopsided trade if it is perceived as such you could of got something for less.

I think you're understimating how cheap the worse teams can be.

Burger king was notorious for not spending a dime on market research of where to put their stores, they just looked at where McDonalds was going and set up shop as close to them as they could.

Mayer is a very low risk shortstop.  If he doesn’t pan out, it’s not a big deal to replace him.  And his pedigree is good enough that his first 350 career PA are probably not definitive.  So yes, if I were a Mets fan and could trade Lindor from ages 33-38 for Mayer, I do it. Quickly.  And getting former All Star Duran, two prospects, plus over $100mill in payroll freed up?  What the f*** is there not to like for Mets’ fans?

Where I grew up it was the opposite.  We had a McDonalds for years at one end of town.  BK finally got a franchise and set up at the opposite side of town.  McDonald’s put up a second restaurant across the street from the new BK within a year.

And this town was not big enough for two McDonalds.  Still isn’t….

Oh wow. I operate on the same principles as my kids when doing dishes. Only one out of three of us actually gets the dishes clean.

BTV has a feature allowing people at certain subscription levels to override the rejections and post imbalanced trades…

You liking something is not even a good example of what a Mets fan fan would like to start with, and throw in reports the Mets aren’t interested in unloading, or rebuilding it’s nothing from nothing leaves nothing.🙈
