As an accountant, I've always believed we should always be the calmest one on the room.  But I also don't think we need to be calm 100% of the time.  But if I need to speak with the president, I probably won't pick a time right after I screwed up.

Speak softly and carry a big 10 key.

His offense is a big part.  In the last 20 games, he has a .481 OPS and 1 RBI.  Hes one of three major non-contributors to tjis offense, alongside Duran and Durbin.  Duran has at least picked it up lately, and Durbin should be on the hot seat as well, but at least unlike Story, he has played elite defense.

Story has stayed cold and can’t field.  Time for some time off..

Those 3 are among the 10 worst hitters in MLB right now. To have them all in the same lineup is a large part of why this team has been unsuccessful.

Apparently, then did not want Duran and bello then. They won't now.

Marte is not exactly lighting the world on fire this year himself. his bWAR right now is less than Wong, Durbin and Duran.

Except for Con Man, and Abrreu hitting HR even when others do hit they get LOB, which has contributed also.

Duran is warming up, and Durbin, imo, is still an investment.  It doesn't get mentioned much, but if Romy was still here, Mayer might have already moved to SS.

Marte has a better wRC+ than every Sox IFer except for Contreras. His 234 BABIP is 70 points below his career norm. If you look at his Statcast page, he's really just been unlucky.

Romy is still there. He's hanging out with Roman in the North End every night.

I still expect Marte to be a decent player, but I question whether or not he will produce enough to be worth $102M, let alone be worth any serious prospects.

I don’t believe Romy not being here has prevented Mayer from moving to SS. 3B maybe, but not SS.

The trade request was too much for an aging player with a big contract. They aren't getting Mayer plus Tolle or Early for him. If there's a team out there that will do that, they are much closer to a WS window than this team is.

Maybe Joe thinks Story would get benched and Romy is the fulltime 2B?

I certainly hope so.  Romy was a big hitter last year.  SSS and all, but he could provide a decent improvement on offense.

I get that from one perspective, but I'd have preferred to have Story say "It was my fault that Cora was fired".  In addition, I don't really get why Devers attitude got him traded, but Story's attitude doesn't get him fired.

In my opinion, the suit screaming do what we pay you is the one who needs to get fired....Even if it wasnt Breslow. Thats bad.  Story has every right to ask.  If I was whitlock i would nver pitch for this team again.

Id love a manager to scream at  me like you want.  Catch a middle finger and a chuckle as you watch top talent walk out the door.

wow, the president.  omgeeeee.

Story is a famous professional athlete who led the team in homeruns last year.

Lick Breslows boots, he need not do.

What do you mean "still want?" They wanted Mayer and Tolle/Early.

I think I read somewhere in the offseason they wanted Duran and Bello. I can't remember where tbh. Either way, at the time, maybe Arizona would have accepted Duran and Bello. Both had an attractive pedigree entering the season but I don't think Breslow would have traded them for Marte anyways. Unfortunately both have lost value, especially Bello.

Not in my experience.  As a disclaimer, you can play it either way.  But it my last job, the boss had a reputation for being hot-headed, and he had people that disliked him.  But I never had a problem with him.  He didn't go off unless he had a valid reason.  Things have to be done a certain way.

He got me in his sights once or twice. but even before he started in, I knew exactly what he was going to say, and why, and I knew he was right.

Probably one of my posts.  I never said Arizona wanted that combo, but I certainly proposed it and it was deemed fair on BTV.

At the time, Arizona still had Blaze Alexander and hadn’t moved Lawlor to the OF yet, so Duran appeared a decent fit on the surface, plus he was significantly cheaper and had only one less year of control and was much younger than Marte.

Bello just seemed like an additional enticement….

I just posted the same.  Story's defense is nothing to write home about, but we could easily handle his glove if he reverted back to his .741 OPS from last year.

IMO Story doesn't have the range to be a everyday SS anymore, and this season he has been sloppy too. He also can't hit at all, but what is more worrisome, he looks clearly lost at the plate. As I said before, DFA his ass or let him know he is going to be a role player moving forward. Try with Monasterio/Mayer/Durbin/farm in the infield. They wanted to go young all the way anyways.

You can keep sticking up for Story, but he is part of the problem, and pretty likely the biggest part of the problem.  He should be focusing on his own problems.  Not to mention the fact that Cora hasn't done anything to validate his parking either.

And, FWIW, I've probably stuck up for Story more than anyone in here.  And I've stuck up for Cora more than a lot of other fans.  But production counts.  And neither one of them have done enough recently that they get any special treatment.

"Dad, I think we need about my allowance"

"Son, I'd love to talk to you, but maybe first explain why you're flunking half your classes despite me paying $23M for your tuition"

$23 million for tuition?  College is expensive, but where is this kid going?  Berkshire Hathaway U, home of the Fightin’ Bitcoin?

Story is top talent? And if top talent actually did that, I think this board would have a meltdown.

With the season the team is having, they shouldn't keep cleaning up, should fire the GM and do a real rejuvenation, get rid of Story, and trade those who are harmful to this team.

Breslow has a 5 year contract. I think he's here through 2027 no matter what.

They traded for Arenado on 1/13.  At that point, there was probably no possibility of a Duran trade.

I haven't heard that reported anywhere. I think AZ wants to go with a youth movement and save cash. Duran and Bello don't help with that. With their value in the tank, they'd want to to that trade even less now.

Lawlar was moved to the OF back in October in the Dominican Winter League. They weren't happy with his defense and had benched him in the regular season for it. It was clear to me back then that he was being moved to CF and that they didn't want Duran.

I think they just DFAed Tomas. If Duran had an interesting value, maybe this trade would work. But again, if that were the case I wouldn't see Breslow trading him anyways. e.i. we are cooked.

Said all that, the "it's still early" cliche has reached Breslow. It's not early anymore and we still suck, and more likely keep sucking.
