The Rays are going with Jax, who I assume will be in an opener role. It will be interesting to see if Tampa tries to stretch him a little. And opposing him is Bennett; what do you expect from him after his MLB debut?

The last two times Jax opened, Scholtens followed for bulk innings. Another guy in the long list of "who the hell is that" the Rays have thrown out there and gotten quality innings from.

I’ve seen Scholtens before.  He’s been a <gasp> injury reclamation project the Rays latched on to after the White Sox released him.

The Rays are probably my least favorite team to play, going back to their emergence as a real pain in the butt in 2008.  You don't get many easy games against them.  They are like Revenge of the Nerds, Major League Baseball version.

I think they've been as big of a rival as the Yankees since then as well.

The Rays have always been frusrating because of their consistent relative success over a long period with a dump of a ballpark and a very low budget.   Then the Sox tried Bloom and there was no magic. Must have been Kevin Cash

But, they always have a pitcher to run out there.  Finally with Bennett, Tolle and Early, the Red Sox may be matching them

Just as a side, I enjoy reading about the Sox now that Cora is gone. I want managers in the background. Don't try to be the star. I really didn't care what Cora had to say. Same old, same old. I've heard it all before.

When the Rays have guys like B Lowe just about killing the Sox way more than any other team, our chances at winning diminished.

20 Hrs is 233 ABs!

50 RBIs in 277 PAs.

It was probably like Xmas morning before each Sox series for Lowe.

We can only hope! Rays ALWAYS have pitching! Sox won yesterday with their defense. If the ball hit to Abreau gets by him it is 3-0 Detroit and a different game. All that extra pitching the Sox had in January is gone. If the kids (Bennett, Tolle, and Early) don't come through its going to be a long summer.

The inevitable happens with Anthony getting a 10 day vacation  , followed by time to get back up to speed. All on a check swing.

I assume that when his bobblehead comes out , it will be a Hummel .

Few days ago I said that my major concern was his durability. Seems like this kid is made of glass. He gets injured a lot and he’s young.

We were told this kid throws a lot of strikes. Well, it didn’t happen in the second inning but seems like he settled in the last 2 innings. Kid has legit potential.
