If you are a poker player, would the % say it's best to trade a young player right after his first successful season, knowing he probably won't repeat that year? Good example is Duran.

It depends on highly they are rated.  If a 10th rounder, with no minor league pedigree, catches fire, he likely won't repeat.  But more importantly, you also won't get anything special for him.  Real GMs won't over-weigh hot spells and cold spells.  Even most fantasy GMs look past short-term results.

Well, Cora was an analytics guy and a firm believer in scheduling days off weeks ahead, so I don't think he was just a robot.

As it should be.

What helped Bello more ?

A. Deferred start

B. Big lead , no pressure

C. Going home to wife/kids after tomorrow

A and is not even close. This guy for whatever reason has a legit and proven track record that he can’t handle the 1st inning.

It's also quite possible he was overdue for a decent performance.

Bob Gibson couldn't stay in a lot of games with these current rules.

Bob Gibson was probably not the best example of a sportsmanlike human being.  Most stories kind of portray him as a major *******…

Maybe tonight's true surprise win was to see that Durbin could actually hit including a flyball to left

Bob was a mean machine on the mound, but unlike Valdez, I don't remember Gibby ever hitting his own teammate with a baseball.

And the notion that any contract can be traded after a hot streak is pure fallacy, unless it’s a really, really extended hot streak.  Like 2 years long…

Yeah Valdez is a new breed of horrible.  Gibson is just another run-of-the-mill *******, like many other professional athletes only maybe a little more so.

I assumed Valdez’ anger issues contributed to his lack of interest this off-season.  But he got paid, so why learn?

“Fire Hinch. Fire Harris. Fire Ilitch into a den of rabid, ravenous pitbulls, badgers, and hyenas, and let nature take its course. Put Valdez in with him

You are embarrassing”

Can’t judge him at all. We’ve been there often this season.

Baseball was a different game back when most players were on one year contracts. Batters almost expected to get hit when the preceding hitter launched a HR.

I wonder where he thinks anyone can find just such a pit.  There can’t be too many of them…

Well 'fan' is just the shortened version of 'fanatic.'

At some point, it’s probably important to realize a major league fastball strikes with more force than a pellet fired from a riot gun.  You know, the weapon police use to subdue people that are out of control…

Looking at Gamboa’s family celebrating alone worth the whole game man.

Just one of the best things in the world.  No matter what else happens, your son played pro baseball.

Valdez is being interviewed and when asked about hitting Story, he replied it wasn't intentional. I was just trying to throw strikes.

And he said all that BS with straight face.
