Of the four major sports franchises in New England the FLOPS are BY FAR the worst. Even in the so called rebuilding years for the Bruins and Celtics they still put a respectable team on display and are in the playoffs. The Patriots took a couple of years and were in the Superbowl this year.

The FLOPS have consistently sucked for years. The product they put out there  is an embarrassment. The fans deserve better.

That won't happen, but the rest of your post is spot on.👍

I know it won’t happen. But it should. Real fans should be not support Henry’s debacle.

Like I posted a week ago, since after the 2018 season, JH has been using the Sox as a cash grab. Nothing will change until the Sox get new ownership.

I’ve been posting that here for a long time too. No more rings as long as the Cheapskate owns the team.

Thing is baseball is viewed like an entertainment rather than a sport these days especially in Fenway. It’s actually closer to what your regular “circus” offers.

Most “fans” these days in Boston are pink hats, unfortunately. They just go to socialize, get drunk, flirt, sing Sweet Caroline and take the selfie while spending a ridiculous amount of money for second-hand tickets, s***** food and draft beer. If you think about it, it’s sad if you like the sport.

How was his velocity?

He was like a mile down in every pitch and his command really awful. He really looked way off today. My guess he’s injured.

Do you go to games?

You live further from Fenway than I do, and I’m exactly 1,040 miles away (per Google Maps.)

Let’s not pick on the people actually financing the team. If Fenway tickets only went to diehard fans, the team would never draw 10,000 fans ever again.  The Baseball Junkies Crowd isn’t as large as represented on these forums, especially among people close enough to attend games.

Stop the “pink hats” from going and you reduce the Sox revenue even more and give ownership even more reasons to cut payroll. Or to sell the team to someone who now has legit business reasons NOT to invest in the payroll to the satisfaction of diehard fans.  If you look at the type of people who own MLB franchises, most of them spend much less than Henry already.

Spending on payroll isn’t the panacea fans think it is.  Only 4 of the top ten payrolls are over .500, and only 3 are more than 1 game over.  And all of this fuss is because the Sox didn’t add Pete Alonso, who has a .581 OPS, 1 HR, and 5 RBI…

Quietly Narvaez is also regressing badly. He was key last year. Maybe Wong will retake the job.

Ignoring catcher was my second biggest gripe about Breslow’s off-season, after ignoring the bullpen.  And my prediction of Duran/Dalton Rushing trade never materialized.   The biggest obstacle was probably that the Dodgers were heavily targeting Kyle Tucker…

Btw when are they going to accept that Story doesn’t have the range at SS anymore? He has to go to second man ASAP.

This I also agree with.  Of course the Sox manager is too much of a wimp to ask a player to change positions simply because he just can’t play his old one anymore…

My opinion for what little it’s worth, he (or Narvaez) was tipping pitches.  Twins really looked like they knew exactly what was coming.  The hits that scored the 7 runs in the second inning totaled a span of 8 pitches (and that included 2 outs).

Yeah, his velocity was done about 1 mph, but I don’t think that was the issue.  He’s had that happen before and been able to pitch around it.

That does make sense.

Last year, Philadelphia’s Jesus Luzardo had an issue tipping pitches.  In back-to-back outings, he totaled 20 earned runs in just 5.2 IP, looking a lot like Crochet tonight.

Once he realized what was happening, he stopped doing it and resumed his dominant season…

Did Crochet think this was another spring training game last night?🤮

Yes, training Twins to sprint 360 feet.

4 bases X 90 feet = 360...

... dang yo, I just figured out why running around a diamond is called "Circling the bases."

Query for math brains: when  a good baserunner properly cuts the inside corner of the bags with his left foot and leans towards the mound, how many degrees is the shortest route, home to home? Don't forget to account for the wider first "leg" from home to 1st, when a smart runner veers into foul territory before the coach's box to reduce the angle turning to 2nd...

Would a protractor help here? Amateur tractor?

Seems pretty obvious by now.

So your assignment for the rest of the week now that you’ve explained why it’s called “circling the bases”””, is to explain how a hitter can “square up” a round bat vs a round ball.  And for extra credit, explain why they call it a “diamond” when it is clearly a square. ..

It was obvious with Devers by 2022, and technically Cora still hasn’t tackled that one yet…

Not to genderflect, but consider the pals of ancient philosphers. The sayings "diamonds are a girl's best friend" and "a dog is a man's best friend" can only be attributed back to baseball.

At least, I know several women who love the fact that their men are obsessed with watching baseball while they pursue interests of their own. Meanwhile, nobody but a loyal dog can keep a guy company when the staff ace is getting shelled off the mound by the 2nd inning.

I'm not allowed to talk about that player without getting yelled at by half of the board.

Are we sure it's square? They're going to move the 2b bag up in one of the lower MiLB divisions this season. Will that turn it into a rhombus?

Would you rather have Raffy at 3B right now for the Red Sox, or Dubin?
