Not a fringe top 50 offensive guys vs righties and im pro platoon

How much do you pay to extend a platoon bat, even if it's the strong side platoon?

His .872 OPS vs RHPs is 12th in MLB since 2023 (His best sample size.)

He's 17th, if I drop the PA sample size to 500 and 19th at 300+ PAs.

That's damn good- no doubt.

BTW...

.827 Abreu

.796 Contreras

.795 Masa & .794 Casas

Yeah, instead of getting the greatest pitcher in the game, let's worry about extending a fringe top 50 offensive guy whose main tool is speed. 🤪

I agree on Duran, but the Red Sox have less of a chance landing Skubal than they did landing the Yam Man, which was 0%. Not a worry at all to me.🤫

Good to see a stated opinion.

"Extend the Butterfly Man," thus spoke Ole-red-a-thustra.

I wouldn’t even give the Butterfly Man a net let alone extend him.🤭

Okay, so you were just agreeing with the MVP sarcasm- a position nonetheless.

🤣

Who's worried about it? It's spring training. Not much else to talk about.

Does PIT have more ex Sox players than the Dodgers?

I see Yorke, E Valdez and Jh Garcia in today's game. They also added some Sox minor leaguers.

STL added Dobbins & Fitts and some minor leaguers, this winter.

MIL added DHam, Harrison & Drohan.

The Dodgers have Mookie & Kike.

The winner is the CWS who no longer have Moncada, but they have Teel, Meidroth, Hicks, Sandlin, Beni, Wikelman, Murphy, Newcomb, Paez plus Montgomery (not on the 40)

6 ex Sox pitchers on their 40.

3 everyday players.

Vibes are high.

Good to see the new veteran influence (instantly filling Bregman's leadership shoes) rubbing off on his impressionable young countryman. They get to bond even more in the WBC.

And Red won't even give Duran an extension pole with a net on the end of it.

Too funny!

I almost busted a gut!

I would not extend Duran, unless it's a team friendly deal,

To me, there are always reasons to pounce.  I doubt Duran is going to be a big-name FA.  He'll be 32 when he starts his next contract.  I don't see anyone offering him a 5-year contract.  But that can be an argument for signing him now.  I think guaranteeing his 3 remaining control years, plus one market-priced FA year, should be enough to have him give us an option year.

So, extend him 1 more year and buyout his last arb year?

I'm not sure. I can see both sides.

Great instagram post yesterday by Alex Bregman showing him, and Raffy shaking hands of course not in Red Sox uniforms, but don’t fret the Red Sox got the steal of the century in Durbin.🤫

Why give him a market price FA year? You only extend him if it's a team friendly deal.

Saw a podcast where a couple guys were talking about how Duran went from an all around great season in 2024- offense, defense, power & speed to being a possible platoon DH in 2026.

The only thing slowing that down is the Romy injury.

That should get him benched.  No more watching home runs:  It's narcissistic.  When God knocks it back into the playing field you suddenly are a loser.

They should have traded Abreu and not pushed so hard on unloading Duran!

Imagine if we traded Abreu for Paredes & King.

Traded Mayer & Tolle for KMarte.

L Anthony RF

S KMarte 2B

L Duran LF

R Contreras 1B

R Paredes 3B

L Masa DH/ R Romy DH

R Story SS

R Narvaez C

R Rafaela CF
