Gil gave up a bunch of bb's last time out and Sox didn't make him pay. Can't let the Yanks off the hook this time.

Season to date, most MLB team batting averages with RISP are below .250.  The Sox BA is .254.  Brewers are highest with .261.

Sox RISP OPS is .749, 4th highest in MLB.  I say that knowing I have steadily pinned the Sox with the "RISP disease" rap.

Sox are going with their 3 best starters against the Yankees--Giolito, Bello, and Crochet.

When the Sox took 3 of 4 at Yankee Stadium 3 weeks ago, Gil and Fried pitched well for the Yankees and Warren did not.  Bello and Crochet pitched well and Giolito gave up 3 ER in 4.2 IP.

Sox BA is 254. Sox have a 253 BA with RISP.

All I said was they need to make the Gil pay if he walks a lot of guys. Series is important and Sox need all the runs they can get. 🫠

I never disagreed about making Gil pay.  But I did point out something that surprised me, which is the Sox may be lousy with RISP, but 80% of MLB teams are worse than the Sox.

My assumption is that RISP #s somewhat follow all #s. If the Sox are towards the top in offensive categories, RISP would probably not be some weird aberration where they are bottom half. They are 5th in runs, but 13th in HR's. Most likely that's due to hitters getting RISP home at a very healthy clip.

Basically three failures to drive in runs in every four ABs is why we're all so stressed every game.

And I don't care if other clubs struggle, too. I need the Red Sox to deliver...

In my house, we're at the point when the Sox get a runner to third with less than two outs, we look at each other and say things like, "Well... we have a chance here..."

Someone can probably find some stats, but it always felt like Boston was in the driver's seat in those situations in the not-too-distant past: 2018, 2007, 2003 -- when eight Red Sox had 85 RBI or more.

Nowadays, we're in the rumble seat or (if you're not riding in a 1934 Cabriolet), the trunk.

But that’s baseball.

The difference between hitting .250 and hitting .300 is a one measly hit for every 20 at bats…

What’s with the injuries on this team? It’s ridiculous. 🤦‍♂️

It has reached absurd levels, this year for the Sox.

All year:

Sandoval, Crawford, Hendriks (Perales)

Almost all year:

Houck, Dobbins, Casas, Wink

Significant time:

Bregman, Anthony, Abreu, Slaten, Mayer, Fitts, Yoshida, Guerrero, Murphy, Kelly

Some time:

Bello, Gio, Narvaez, Refsnyder, Bernardino, Criswell, Burdi, Moran

I probably missed someone.

The list of no time or very little time missed for injury is:

Crochet, Chapman, Whitlock, Weissert & Wilson

Duran, Rafaela, Story, Romy & Wong

Another game on AppleTV but not on MLB. Getting ripped off paying for MLB.

I'm getting it on my ipad, but am in complete agreement with you.  It's infuriating.

Thorough as always.

Having this series always on the weekend attracts the dregs like ESPN, FOX and now APPLE.

Btw, getting ripped off is as American as apple pie and hotdogs.

Judge is just a monster!

He's over 100 points higher than the #2 guy, Ohtani.

He's about 150 points higher than #3-4-5, Springer, Schwarber & Soto.

Some context? 150 points is about the difference between Bregman and Rafaela.

Gil is serving up hittable pitches.  Sox can't hit them squarely.

Hard to hit a round ball with a round bat squarely., but they definitely have trouble hitting them solidly.
