Weaver, Bednar and Williams all threw a lot of pitches last night in the Yankees win, so there's one little potential advantage for us...which will probably mean nothing. 😀

At this point in the season the Sox only have two advantages over the Yankems; Crochet and Chapman.

Giolito's stats actually look pretty good. Does that match the eye test?

Depends on the game.

Hard to say.  In August he was great at Fenway against Miami and Houston, but stunk @ San Diego.

But my real concern is that the Yankee bats have come alive.  Last night the Rays tied the game with 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, and the Yankees scored 3 runs in the top of the 10th with 2 dingers.

Yankee Stadium is a hitters ballpark, and the Yankees lead MLB in dingers with 20 more than the 2d place Dodgers.

The Yankees pitching is just so-so, but these days that's all it seems to take to shut down Red Sox anemic hitting.

I was thinking that, too. And we missed a perfect 6 innings pitched by some sh**ty pitcher, last night.

The Sox need to take one game at a time, but we don't...

Gio vs Gil 5.14 but 2.53 last 2 starts)

Bello v Fried 3.26 but 9.00 last 3 starts, 7.20 last 6 and 6.80 last 8 starts)

Crochet v Warren 4.25 but 1.61 last 4 GS

TBD (May or Buehler) v Rodon 3.25 and 4.09 last 4 starts

I guess we'll see what prevails this series then:

The Yanks' recent propensity to wilt during an important series, or the Sox recent suckage

Sox will definitely miss Abreu's lefty bat.  Hamilton an interesting choice at 2b, but that gives the Sox a good infield, a good outfield and a good defensive catcher.

All that remains is for the Sox to hit the freaking ball with RISP and the Yankees to be held to less that 9 dingers.

Farewell to Tor but you  needed to keep hitting .  You will likely be eligible. for a partial WS share for your contribution.

Looking forward to Lowe ripping a few.     Don't know if there has been any theories published as to why the FO ( Brez-slow) waited so long to pull this switch but patience did not have4 any rewards in this case

Great point.  I Iook forward to a sweep against the Yankees now that the lineup has been fixed.

I heard there were earlier trade talks, but Brez ended up getting him for next to nothing. Was it all about the money and not giving up a low level prospect?

After the incredibly bizarre Wednesday off-day yesterday, the Red Sox enter arguably their most crucial series of the season. The first AL Wild Card and second place in the AL East are both up for grabs.
